like bow's inanimate answers episode makes me sad... probably sadder than with apple's if you can believe it. shes very outwards expressive about her hyping up ghost life and being a freaky ghost of the undead and such but she easily falters into saying how lonely it all feels to be on another realm incapable of interacting and communicating much like a living object. shes spent a long time in solitude looming over the fact that the life of attention and "stardom" is gone. just like that. the only real friend shes had prior to that also gone and upon seeing her with someone whom she thought she hated also mightve been fucked up on her end too

and i like that apple notes bow being jealous (jelly-jelly) of her and marsh, not just cuz bow just told apple straight up how she felt but cuz of how obvious it is when you point it out.

fast forward to inanimate answers where, theyre all on good terms theyre all living in peace and joy with one another, and bow even with her loved ones by her side no longer alone in an empty mansion... still harbours resentment for her form. and you cant blame her, anyone would. shes gotten the right kind of people in her life to keep her afloat and yet the barrier of the living and the dead prevents her from indulging in frivolities. shes learned to deal with it sure, but that inanimate answers episode has her at any chance she can to convince someone to join her on the other side. she wants apple to die and join her, a scrapped tweet during the takeover event has her wishinf marsh had died and turned ghost, and at the end of that video shes just bitter and upset on that the host can just be alive again. whereas bow is stuck like that forever. she feels unwanted, she feels irrelevant, she feels alone in the world, she feels like her time is already over and it isnt fair. for as much as she loves to talk about all the cool shit there is with being a ghost, it doesnt erase her sullen temperment towards it all

even so, im sure having marshmallow, apple, dough, etc makes it all the worthwile. shes got folks that deeply care for her, quirks and resentment and all. the host of inanimate answers says it himself, shes still wanted, dead or alive

theres so much nuance in the situation with taco soap and mic because like nobody in this situation is wrong for feeling the way they feel. obviously from soap's perspective her best friend that she was with First is ditching her for the random gross woman she found in the woods that broke her heart that one time. and she never really got to spend any time with mic in the competition so now she has that chance she's pissed that her attention is being stolen by this forest freak she doesn't even fully trust yet.

but from mic's perspective, this is probably the most taco has been up and about smiling and happy since season 2 concluded. it makes sense that mic would focus her attention more on her friend who's probably been depressed for who knows how long before this and currently seeming to be recovering. she'd want to encourage that! we haven't seen what taco was like immediately after s2 but it Probably wasn't good!!!

and from TACO'S perspective she's probably trying SO hard to make friends with soap too and just isn't understanding what she's doing wrong. she's already not very good at understanding people's feelings but she'd be even worse at it when they're irrational feelings. and i think she knows in some way that soap doesn't like her but she can't figure out why.

idk these girls are just so interesting. a conversation could solve all of this but 2/3 of them don't recognize a problem and the one that does won't say shit until she explodes. so.

Sooo do the contestants have bones in their limbs or no? I assume they don't have any in their body, as you don't see any in the transparent objects and when some objects get killed, but do they have any in their limbs?

They seem to be able to do some cartoony stuff that wouldn't be possible with bones (take Cherries using one of his legs to stretch and get over the rock wall as an example), and none of them having bones but still being able to control their limbs wouldn't be too far of a stretch considering they're made out of shimmer energy.

Fan splicing Mephone clips to have him say "good job Fan" parallels Mephone ripping Ballpoint Pen's "you can't do this forever" note into saying "you can do this" in the iii finale. Both of them are taking the words of someone they look up to—words that were either in criticism of them or not even about them—and spinning it into a positive/inspirational message for them.

In Mephone's case, BP's original message was telling Mephone that he can't keep making new seasons while avoiding his problems, and by the end of iii, Mephone accepts this and is ready to go back to s2. The modified message is in line with BP's original advice, and Mephone uses this as motivation to do what he knows is right.

In Fan's case, the "good job" wasn't even directed at him, and the "Fan" was spoken during Fan's elimination. There was nothing personal about it. There's no emotional weight behind it and it feels hollow, just an artificial positive motivater for something Fan isn't even sure about. BP's note was personal and came from wanting the best for Mephone, while to Mephone Fan was just another contestant.

These differences are also reflected in their reactions to the message. Wheras Mephone looks comforted by the words, Fan still looks uneasy, and it doesn't seem like the message really worked for him.
