Placeholder Title: The Invisible Girl

Genre: Historical Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

Current Status: Second draft

POV: Third person

Themes: Found Family, Heists, Magic versus Machines, Self Discovery, Adventure, Loneliness

Synopsis: When Velia Greene accepts her newest job, she thinks nothing of it. A three day train ride, a secret piece of cargo--simple enough for a thief who can slip right past any security. After all, Velia’s never been caught. How could she be, when nobody can see her?

It’s lonely, being invisible to everyone until they care for you. But it does give you an excellent advantage at sneaking.

But on the train, everything starts to go wrong. Four passengers overhear her and discover her presence. A strange man somehow sees her immediately. The cargo is more precious than she could’ve imagined, and there’s someone aboard who will stop at nothing to get it before the train arrives...

Placeholder Title: Stars and Ships

Genre: Sci fi

Current Status: Zero draft, plotting

POV: Third person, multiple narrators

Themes: Found Family, Heists, Adventure, Treasure hunt, Maybe the real treasure was the friends we found along the way, Criminals on the run

Synopsis: Jax Castle is the best junker this side of the Milky Way. That’s probably cause the junker business is just a front for his real skills: smuggling. Together with his team Aaliyah the mercenary and little brother Quin the pilot, there isn’t any job they can’t do!

It’s a dangerous life, always hiding from the authorities, always staying below the radar, but like previously stated, there isn’t anything they can’t do.

Unfortunately, once they meet Sepia Windsor along with his crazy scheme, the authorities start cropping up everywhere. The crew didn’t even agree to help the kid, but before they know it, they’re recruiting other dubious help, landing themselves in the biggest prison in the galaxy, and becoming the top wanted criminals in the whole universe. And the so called treasure may not even be real. They are NOT getting paid enough for this; if they survive, Jax is going to kill that Sepia kid. Or maybe himself. He’s not particular.

This tag is from the beloved @eccaiia -- thank you, kai! I'm looking for PORTAL.

P. Perhaps he is being overly cautious, but to be discovered now is a headache he doesn’t want to deal with for a single minute.

O. Once he understands Quintus means what he’s saying, he drops his head, his hair brushing Quintus’s sternum, and then he moves away.

R. Resting on his own stomach, Nikolaos’s fingers twitch. “I’m so tired,” he whispers.

T. Time stretches and stretches further, and then it’s over, faster than Quintus wished.

A. At this point, there’s not much point in mentioning it, but habits linger, so Miriam puts her foot in her mouth and says, “Quintus, why do you feed him like that?”

L. Lifting his head up after a while, Quintus squints a crooked smile Nikolaos’s direction. He is different like this, made young and happy by first waking.

jumping on @oh-no-another-idea’s open tag for: a line about winter, a line featuring a bite, a line with the colour green, and a line of yelled dialogue

~

about winter:

It was snowing the day of Fiyavu Ozast's funeral. Big, fluffy white flakes that muffled the world and turned the landscape fresh and clean and bright.

It should have made Daanah happy, or at least calm. Instead it only made her angry. Fiyavu Ozast's death should leave a big, loud, violent stain on the world that couldn't be covered up or muffled or washed away.

~

featuring a bite:

Then she was grabbed from behind, an arm around her neck and a hand clamped tightly over her mouth.

Daanah's extra teeth had not receded, and as spurs of bone shot from her spine, she bit. Clamped on hard and sank all those extra divine teeth into flesh. The familiar iron tang of blood spilled into her mouth. No one could deny that she was a screamer, but she was good for more than just screaming.

~

with green:

"Grass people," Jue said softly. "They are fairies. Maybe there is an opening somewhere near here, or there used to be. We are very lucky to see them."

Carrying a speckled pebble between the three of them, the grass people approached Mkera. Jue sat frozen in awe as they placed the pebble on o-mēs skirts.

Mkera put o-mēs hands over o-mēs mouth. Jue thought ze saw tears shining in o-mēs eyes.

Jue returned to hir senses and reached up to take out one of hir lighter earrings. It was polite to give the grass people a gift, especially if they brought something to you, and ze was pretty sure it would be rude to give them something they could not carry.

After a lot of frustration, ze asked the interpreter for help, and of course then it came out easily.

Ze set the stud flat in hir hand for the grass people to take.

They considered it. One of them took it, and they all seemed to fawn over the small green gem on the end.

~

yelled dialogue:

“Why do you even care?"

"Because you're my friend!" Zhe'ārani felt like she was about to explode. "I don't like seeing my friends hurt!"

"Well, maybe I deserve to be hurt!" said Kaelía. "Everyone knows you need a whip to keep me in line! I break rules, I yell at people- just like I'm doing both right now! I wouldn't learn or obey if they didn't make me because I'm broken like that and I can't just listen to my superiors!"

from @oh-no-another-idea <3 my lines are a line about winter, a line featuring a bite, a line with the color green, and a line of yelled dialogue. digging around all over the cycle as i try to get inspired to write again

a line about winter (the knight of lacuna lake)

“Keys,” Birdie says, tugging on his sleeve. “I want you to throw me in!” “It’s too cold for that, duckling,” he says, prying her off his sleeve. She clings to his leg instead and he sighs. “You’ll catch something.” “No I won’t,” she says with a pout. “Yes, you will,” he laughs. “You’ll freeze your braids off.” He tugs on them affectionately as he speaks and Maura smirks at him from her seat on the bench. “And after Maura put in so much hard work doing them for you.”

a line featuring a bite (the thieves of morbhard)

Arthur laughs, the tension in him draining out. He picks up his spoon and examines the food Meja brought out. It’s some kind of fish stew over rice, but he’s only ever smelled the spices in the market. Steam is still rising off it, the smell wafting up with and making Arthur’s mouth water. He takes a bite and closes his eyes. The savory flavor is perfectly balanced by salt and and earthy spices, all in a creamy sauce that seems to soothe his whole throat on the way down. He opens his eyes and sees Meja watching him, her brow furrowed a bit. He quickly smiles at her. “It’s delicious,” he says. She smiles back at him, patting his cheek again, and goes back to shelling nuts into a bowl.

a line with the color green (the witch of the west)

The sun's reflection on the water gives his eyes a soft green glow, and with him surrounded by the flowers and leaves, she can almost forget all the blood on his hands. He gives her a soft, sad smile. She curls her fingers against the smooth stone of the statue.

a line of yelled dialogue (the witch of the west)

“We’re all worried about Birdie,” Jack says, grim-faced. “You can’t go running off and putting her in danger—” “She’s already in danger!” Fabin shouts, feathers falling from his hair. “How do you know?” Jack shouts back. “Because I can feel her!” Fabin screams, his eyes glowing green. Jack pulls up short and Fabin clutches his chest, his claws digging into his shirt. “Alright? I can feel her, I know she’s in danger—just—get the fuck out of my way!”

leaving an open tag for anyone who wants to find a line about laughter, a line about a smile, a line about a frown, and a line about anger <3

Last Line / Out of Context Line Tag

I was tagged by the amazing @oh-no-another-idea. I don't have any fresh actual writing to share, but I really really just want to share a line from the last session of Morana's campaign because I'm so obsessed with it.

Morana comes back to the present, eyes focusing as she shakes off the last fragments of the vision. Staring at the place she'd seen the glimmer of the arcane eye, she smiles. "Hello, Kaelen. It's good to finally put a face to a name."

I'm going to tag @thegreatobsesso @akindofmagictoo and OPEN TAG.

I’m writing Jue’s part of the epilogue right now which means I am very close to having a completed draft for the first time ever (!!!!!) and this is the last line/paragraph I wrote:

~

[Jue] was getting a little worried about how no one had made Sei sign anything, but ze did not say anything to Talí about that. It was a big change, and she didn't do well with even little changes. She just needed time.
