I'm watching The Fall Guy

thanks to PHM fans on Tumblr and their Ryan Gosling crossover obsession, and I am LOVING it. It's so goofy and clever and parodying/hat tipping to so many movie tropes. It reminds me of Date Night in the way it escalates from kinda plausible to crazy shit. And the action stuff is more plausible because he's a stunt guy--he CAN jump from one moving car to another, it's his day job.

Finished the movie. Genuinely one of the most fun movies I've seen in a while, and I saw the new Spider-Man last week. It was very well-written and just FUN. Some of the info from earlier in the movie comes back at key moments, there's split screen while two characters are on the phone talking about split-screens, there's freakin' Dune-esque music happening in the movie-within-a-movie space western moments, there's a fight scene on moving vehicles going past the karaoke bar where other stuff is happening but no one sees, the whole stunt crew gets to play a role in saving the day on set . . . Really well thought through!

Was not anticipating Jason Mamoa cameo near the end.
