Anyways i do use bi4bi as shorthand for the orientations of james and mary even if it isn't an entirely correct assessment of their relationship. james knows for a FACT that he loves other men but has been punished for it and has stayed very firmly in the closet. he also doesn't have the verbiage for what he feels either... and mary just. like. doesn't know. for as proud as she is of being a self-sufficient woman, i think she has a tendency to prioritize male attention and affection over that of her female peers bcs the patriarchy demands such of women and she's been inundated with that. i think if she never got sick and the #SunderlandDivorce came and went, she'd re-evaluate how she feels about men vs. women and all else and come to realize that in a lot of ways she was playing gay chicken with a lot of her girl friends and never thought anything of it LMAOOOO
