I just realized I never posted all of these together
Top surgery consultation parts 1-5
CW: dysphoria
A couple weeks ago I had the follow-up appointment with my surgeon, and she took the "after" pictures. There was a very noticeable difference between these two appointments- from being so uncomfortable that I had to distract myself to "oh, it's just a normal doctor's appointment, no big deal."
Oh btw

Thank you all! I didn't excpect this would yet such a reaction :)
This is something ive really been looking forward to for quite some time, I'm really glad so many of you stuck with me through this journey!
As many of you have probably noiticed, trans comics are no longer my speciality, and this is probably how it'll stay. I don't want my gender identity to defy me. I'll still be posting art tho, and maybe some comics every now and then :)
Misadventures of Spidey and Pals - Siren’s Desire
One of my friends gave me this idea and I went a bit overboard with the execution lol, but I do love making comics in this layout, even when it takes a few weeks to finish. Anyways, Spidey has his priorities straight, he’s still a bit bitter Wolverine pulled him out of the water.
(btw the muscular guy in the end is Cyrus, I have more things planned for him :D)
Hi, everyone! Okay, so, my name is Minty, and I'm a transmasc who has been in various stages of transitioning publicly for about a decade now, but!! I have never been able to get a job with insurance that covers top surgery! Only HRT! Right now, I'm on state Medicaid, which also only covers HRT, no surgery, and I'm about at the point where I really need to get my top surgery done, like, this year.
I am on year three of applying to the Point of Pride surgery grant, but if I once again fail to cross the bar, I need to be able to have a back up.
So, here is my top surgery GoFundMe, if you don't mind sharing it around.
I also have a mastectomy recovery Amazon wishlist that can be directly shared between mutuals, so if we're friends, you can request I send it to you, if you'd like to gift more material items, ie Vitamin E oil or shower wipes, which are the absolute 'mandatory' things I have left, or less important things, like a chair to sleep in before transferring to my bed after healing up more.
But, the GoFundMe is the major guy!! So! Please give my GoFundMe a look, if you could! Thank you very much <3 Even $5 can build up over time.
Okay so I really hate that I had to make this update, but Medicaid requirements updated so that there is a requirement that recipients work at least one month in a year. I am entirely unable to work at this point. I cannot leave the house without binding; it's extremely unsafe for me. But I have been binding for a decade now and my body can no longer take it. It's extremely painful for me, regardless of how well a binder fits.
It's no exaggeration when I say that I am entirely reliant on whether or not I get my surgery to get a job. Work from home is no longer an option, and it does not solve the root cause. This means I may in fact lose my insurance. I desperately need this surgery at this point. Please, I'm at the end of my rope. If I can't get my surgery done this year I will have nothing left. Please, even if you can't donate, share. I don't have the social media clout to raise money. My ONLY way of raising sufficient funds is basically metaphysics at this point. So, please share.
friendly reminder that surgery scars are ATTRACTIVE AF

Top Surgery Journal #4: plus considering the cocktail of painkillers I had coursing through my veins to start I actually was in less physical pain than normal
[Not personal medical advice obviously, please ask your care team!]
-Results can take up to 18 months to settle. Please be kind to yourself and your team and do not worry about revisions etc until then. If after 18 months you're still unhappy, then go down the revision pathway.
-Zaps are normal, its the nerves finding each other and holding hands again :)
-You absolutely should be sent home with roughly 2 days worth of strong pain relief, with instructions on over the counter pain meds for after that. If they don't it's ok to say you won't discharge until they do. You are also allowed to ask for a med like a PPI to protect your stomach lining if you get reflux etc, and anti nausea medication.
-You only heal once. Chronic fatigue from overdoing it early is real. Listen to your body, give yourself time, go for nice slow walks. Fuel your body right. Drink water. Make sure you poop.
-A compression garment does a lot of things: it improves blood flow, helps avoid raised scars, helps avoid blood clots, and helps squish everything into shape so it heals right. It's essential, but it also shouldn't be cutting you to pieces. You can ask if you can wear a thin shirt underneath, and use things like medicated ointments to ease chaffing. Sometimes just popping a comfy (clean) sock between you and the binder along a particularly sore edge can do the trick. The garment should sit straight on top of, and not be dragging on, your nipple grafts.
-Drains rarely hurt to come out. Taking the tape off often stings the skin a bit and that's worst part. They will remove the suction, ask you to breath in, then as you breath out it usually just flops out as they gently pull. Don't stress about it and ask for pain relief and anti nausea meds before it if you're squeamish.
-If you don't understand something or are worried about something your nurse is doing, its very ok to ask them to explain it. A good nurse will be very happy to and probably yap your ear off about it.
-If you have great nurses, you can absolutely make their month by remembering their names and writing an email to the facility later to compliment them. Nursing can be a thankless job and you would not believe the difference specific, named compliments make to a nurses career. Most of us keep them forever to read back on on the bad days and it help so much when going for new positions. On that note, a box of Cadbury Favourites is generally most nursing stations preferred chocolates: individually wrapped, lots of variety and don't have the funny taste of Lindt or Roses (Australia) :)
