Mitzi. 30something trans woman. Not up to much. My girlfriends are in jail on false terrorism charges after a protest at an ICE facility so I will post about that. You can also guess my politics from that fact

For now Meagan and Autumn Hill are at Johnson County Jail, as the state of Texas is trying to double-jeopardy them. If you want to send mail to them, use these mailing addresses:

for Meagan:

Bradford Morris 202502011

Johnson County Jail PO Box 247 Phoenix, MD 21131

For Autumn Hill:

Cameron Arnold 202502023

Johnson County Jail PO Box 247 Phoenix, MD 21131

Books have to be ordered through Barnes and Noble, they go to the same names and booking numbers, but to the physical address of the jail:

[Deadname / booking number] Johnson County Jail 1800 Ridgemar Drive Cleburne, TX 76031

You can also contact them via the GTL app, though it requires registration and costs 25 cents a message. To get to them in the facility lookup , you would select Texas > Johnson County > booking number (for Meagan 202502011 , for Autumn Hill 202502023). You will need to put funds in the "my messaging" account. The upside is that you can send immediate messages and pictures to them.

If you want to send them commissary, you have to go through the Connectnetwork website at https://web.connectnetwork.com/ . Like with GTL you have to look them up by Texas > Johnson County > booking number.

Anyway. I want to say thank you to everyone who's been supporting Meagan and Autumn through this awful time, and that they've really benefited from everyone's support: the letters, commissary, phone calls, everything that helps them keep a hold of their community outside. One day they will be free, but until then thank you all for supporting them <3

"why we build the wall" from hadestown is really gonna trip up future media analysis students. they'll be like "ah a piece of media from the 2010s referencing building a wall to keep out the poor, clearly this is a reference to the president of the united states from 2016-2020", and then their professor will have to be like "actually the concept album for this musical came out in 2010"

how i hope this conversation goes from there is like:

"actually the concept album for this musical came out in 2010 and the original song was written in 2006"

"so she knew about the wall 10 years before Trump proposed it be built?"

"well, let's talk about that...

...but that wasn't when the wall was first built...

...this shift in the '90s marked the start of an enforcement philosophy called Prevention Through Deterrence, which basically says that if crossing is made more deadly, fewer people will cross (fact check: it just means that more people die on the journey). From the start, the purpose of the wall was not to physically to stop people from crossing -- it was to make it more deadly to do so.

...and we can also look at the song metaphorically and expansively, as a reference to the policing of migration, to company towns, to gated communities, and the physical and metaphorical walls that throughout history have kept people in and out and defined who does and don't belong.

Sources: 1 & 2 / 3 / 4"

"...how did you just say a hyperlink?"

"why worry about that when you can use this show as an entry-point into a deeper understanding of capitalism's investment in coercive control over human migration, and its long history in the United States?"

"so the song only seems prophetic because the long history of policing and militarizing the border has been ignored, and treated as an outsider position by Trump rather than the continuation of bi-partisan policy dating back decades? and it can be seen to reflect larger patterns of capital controlling people's movement in order to extract land, labor, wealth, and ultimately life from them?"

"and the song slaps"

"....and the song slaps"

thank you so much for this well-researched response tho because, as a texan, the very concept that trump invented the idea of the border wall made me kinda. reboot. not mad at op! just surprised at the difference in our life experiences

A 19-year-old black trans girl was shot to death this month, and there has been absolutely no media reporting on it - despite extensive reporting on almost identical incidents in the same part of Florida, at the same time. The police, as usual, misgendered her in the police report and have done nothing to find her killer. Her name was Jayla Mcgee. Black trans people deserve to grow old.

A 25-year-old U.S. citizen was deported to Mexico by ICE after a traffic stop in Texas. His attorney says he had a U.S. birth certificate, Social Security card, and hospital records proving his citizenship, but agents refused to review them before deporting him.

meagan update, from a message she sent me today:

"What the FUCK apparently some of the visitation phones are grounded improperly and if you touch the wire or the windowsill you get shocked and burnt real bad!"

"One of the guys showed me a burn clear through the top layer of skin!"

Johnson County Jail had someone die in segregation yesterday. :(

phone zap request from the DFW Support Committee

What's Happening: Zachary Evetts and Benjamin "Champagne" Song are still being held in Segregation and future phone zaps may be necessary. Rowan Gibson is being held in an infirmary cell with snitches and urgently needs to be moved to gen pop.

Today we are focusing on the situation faced by Maricela Rueda, who was threatened by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Joy White after asserting her right to counsel. This is unacceptable, and has lead to Maricela suffering repeated strip searches, leg and hand shackles when leaving her cell, limited phone and tablet access, and the violent and alienating isolation of Segregation.

A Pattern of Abuse: Lt. Gross, the cop who was allegedly shot in the Prairieland Case, was sued in 2021 for stripping down an incarcerated man and holding him naked in a refrigerated suicide cell to make him talk without his lawyer present. This coercive, violent, humiliating behavior is normalized in Johnson County. After returning from sentencing, Maricela was interviewed by mental health coordinator, LCSW Joy White who started asking intrusive questions about the defendants plans for appeal. . Maricela asked if she could call her lawyer. White responded: “You’re not going to be calling anyone. You’re going to be naked in a padded cell for 4 days”.

if you plan on calling, please look at this form first and get an idea of how to make the most of the call: https://cryptpad.fr/form/#/2/form/view/OmLcDPdhvabZSp0f72gz2ob7YTWsRXSpJ+bEe6VfMFA/

Keep calm, don't say or imply anything illegal, but don't back down. We have to get results for Mari!

Call Script: Hello, I’m calling on behalf of people incarcerated at Johnson County who are facing horrendous conditions. All of the Prairieland defendants need to be moved to general population immediately.

Holding people in administrative seg violates due process. Are you aware of that? (Wait for response). Maricela Rueda is being held in administrative seg yet she has no disciplinaries against her and was in gen pop with co-defendants for months pre-trial. Why can't she be housed in gen pop now? (Wait for response) Are you aware that jail staff, LCSW Joy White, threatened Maricela with being placed naked in a suicide watch cell when she asserted her right to have legal counsel present for an interview? (wait for response) Threats in response to Maricela asserting her legal rights are highly inappropriate, and she needs to be placed in general population immediately.

Due to the threats against her, we also demand that Licensed Clinical Social Worker White not be allowed contact with Maricela.

Maricela also urgently needs to see her state lawyer, George Lobb, who has been turned away by the jail. She is being denied legal counsel and is being threatened by staff. Move her to gen pop immediately and assure her access to legal counsel.

Thank you for all your help. I appreciate you looking into these issues. I will keep calling until everyone has been moved to general population.

Support the Prairieland Defendants

(cw: incarceration)

hi everyone, i wanted to ask you to please consider supporting the prairieland defendants by donating to their legal fund and/or writing letters to those incarcerated. they're innocent folks who've just been given terrible, long prison sentences for simply being at an anti-ice protest/having anarchist zines in their possession. it was my birthday so if you want to get me anything for my birthday, please contribute to this:

i'm not going to shut up about this. we can't afford to let this slip by.
