ID: a tweet by @_AshJOY on 01 Jan 26. Asexuality and aromanticism have an incredible amount of political value that deserves to be acknowledged. With the way that amatonormativity is woven throughout various social structure, our experiences provided much needed perspective surrounding the nuance of connection. End ID

what is it about things being gender neutral having to also be ‘masculine’. like, why can you wear a suit and tie and call it gender neutral but not a dress cause that’s feminine. why can you call people dude or guy as a gender neutral term but not girl cause that’s feminine. short hair is neutral but long hair is feminine. i mean i know why this is fully a rhetorical question but let’s think about that

Oh you're aroace? You should watch Blimpus and Jumbie it has an aroace character! Their name is Splonky and they're introduced in season 3 they're in six episodes, have a total 25 minutes of screentime and an average of three lines per episode. They're absolutely groundbreaking aroace representation, the show's creator confirmed it on twitter when he posted a doodle of Splonky holding an asexual flag. Oh that's not your cup of tea? Here's a list of aroace books they're all about high schoolers discovering that they're aroace after trying to find a significant other and it ends with the message that you can just make up for being a terminal virgin by third wheeling the gay couple you're friends with

You go into the splonky blimpus and jumbie tag and there's like a handful of cute fanart and appreciation for Splonky, and then every other post is people drawing Splonky making out with a variety of other characters from the show and the rest is people writing mini-essays yelling at people who ship Splonky with anyone as if that killed their grandma

What is Blimpus and Jumbie even about? Who the fuck cares? There's an aroace character who was introduced in season 3, is in six episodes, has a total 25 minutes of screen time and an average of three lines per episode, the creator confirmed it on twitter when he posted a doodle of them holding an asexual flag! You're aroace, you'll love Blimpus and Jumbie, it has aroace representation! Btw the target demographic for Blimpus and Jumbie is 10-14 year olds.

sex ed needs to mention aromanticism and asexuality in depth or else it sucks as sex ed

no one off mentions. i mean IN DEPTH. discuss amatonormativity, compulsory sexuality, non romantic and non sexual intimacy, love being morally neutral

stop giving kids sex and romance as their only possible way to be social and intimate as well as assuming they all want and prioritize only that, these babies are too lonely for that

bringing back my too woke opinion that you should be allowed to change labels without the previous one being incorrect

i think you should be allowed to identify as trans without retroactively saying you were also trans in the past. i think the "born this way" rhetoric is limiting and you should be able say stuff like "i was fully a girl when i was a kid and now im a boy" without it invalidating your current identity but maybe that's just me

This poll was inspired by the previously reblogged post (OP @teaboot) It is objectively silly but I want to see what, if any, correlation there is between being asexual and owning or not owning a waffle maker. And I’m not saying being asexual is why I don’t have a waffle maker, correlation isn’t causation, blah, blah, but also, this is funny.

Anonymous asked:

Hello, I am asexual, but I frequently draw NSFW while not wanting sex myself. If I do experience sexual thoughts, it is ONLY in the perspective of my OCs, never myself or anyone that I know. How... would you define this?

An asexual who likes shipping? Sex averse? ¯\_( ' - ' )_/¯

I'm gonna be honest, anon, I can't label you. I just can't. I don't know what it's like to be you, and frankly it's not my place to label you. Only you can decide which labels best describe you. Not because I don't want to help (I get it, trying to figure out labels can be a long process), but because no matter how much you tell me about your experience, I can never know exactly what labels will resonate with you because there's so much that goes into it.

trans bears are literally stronger than any US marine

How on earth would they be able to tell that a bear is trans. I’m not saying they can’t be but how would they communicate that.

this is so fucking funny

we the jury find the defendant not guilty your honor

In like 1998 my very femme lesbian friend went to Pride in London and was all excited at the “teddy bears picnic” happening in one of the city parks. She took along a picnic hamper and her cuddly teddy bear. Needless to say, the large hairy gay men all thought she was adorable and she had a great time

Berlin Pride

Our hearts go out to those affected, injured, killed, in the horrific attack during Berlin Pride yesterday. It's a horrendous tragedy, and more reason for why we NEED Pride events. Sending hugs and love and condolences to everyone struggling right now. ♥

For those of you wondering if you’re ace

If identifying as asexual makes you breathe a little easier...

If it feels like a weight being lifted off your chest and shoulders...

If it feels like it just makes sense somehow...

If it makes you happy...

If it sounds right in your head...

Then use it. Claim it. Make it your own. Even if only for a day. A week. A month. A couple years.

Labels aren’t tattoos. They don’t have to be permanent or perfect.
