Download our 2026/27 Schools PosterDon’t see what you’re looking for? There’s plenty we can offer as long as there’s something relevant in the museum (no Ancient Greeks, though) so email schools@tullie.org.uk and we’ll see what can do.
Fancy becoming regular visitors? Our school membership scheme could be for you. With it you get:
- £30 discount on all workshops

Secondary Schools
We offer free self-guided visits for under-18s (teachers too!). This gives access to galleries covering fine art, natural science, history and our changing exhibitions programme. Exhibitions cover a variety of subjects and may have links to what your pupils are studying – check our current exhibitions here.
Not sure we have what you’re looking for? We could still help, if your class is studying a specific subject and you think we might have something relevant, get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.
If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, check the FAQ below, email schools@tulliehouse.org or call 01228 618718. We want to help.

Frequently asked questions
What is on offer?
We have an extensive offer for primary groups linked to our collections and exhibitions. As well as workshops we also offer virtual assemblies and a loan box scheme. The best place to see our core offer is by looking at this year’s poster.
Sometimes we run special events linked to our collections or exhibitions; the best way to find out about these is by signing up to our school newsletter.
The school loan box service is for those looking to add to their lessons in class with quality objects and replicas – current boxes. Boxes are allocated on a first come first serve basis to schools for half a term. You will need to be able to pick the box up and return it to the museum yourself, unless otherwise stated.
Not quite sure what might work for you? Then get in touch with our friendly team who will be able to give you more guidance on schools@tulliehouse.org
How do we book?
The easiest way to book is to contact our learning team via email – schools@tulliehouse.org. If needed, we can then arrange to give you a call to chat in more detail. You can also call us on 01228 618718.
To ensure we can deal with your enquiry promptly when booking a workshop, it’d be great if you could include the following in your first email to us:
- What you are interested in
- Some options for visit dates
- The year group and number of your pupils
- Any special requirements or additional needs
- If you will need space for lunch
Are you still offering self-guided visits to the museum?
Yes, please contact schools@tulliehouse.org well in advance of your visit to check which galleries and exhibitions will be open to explore. Entry is free for school groups, but a group booking must be made via email.
What is the cost of the workshops?
Check out the school’s poster to see the current price of our workshops. This also shows discounts you can take advantage of if you join the school membership scheme.
Membership offers discounts on workshops and access to our loan boxes and virtual assemblies at no additional cost. Memberships are priced according to the size of your school – see here for more details and to purchase.
Can I make changes to my booking once it is confirmed?
Yes, absolutely. We are always happy to alter bookings, timings or numbers, just let us know via email and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Is there a cancellation fee?
Once we have received your booking and your confirmation letter is sent out your booking is confirmed. Cancellations will be charged on a sliding scale:
- Cancellations within one week of the workshop date will incur 50% cost of the full workshop fee.
- Cancellations within two weeks of the workshop date will incur 50% cost of the workshop fee unless the workshop is rescheduled.
- Cancellations with more than two weeks’ notice will not incur a cancellation fee.
Do you have behaviour guidelines?
Teachers / Group Leaders are always responsible for appropriately managing children’s behaviour, allowing our facilitators to direct the learning and focus on delivering an inspiring and engaging workshop.
Do I need to advise about specific needs in my class/group?
Yes please, it’s always helpful for our facilitators to be aware of additional needs so they can make adjustments where possible. Please provide information on allergies, hearing/visual/mobility impairments, behavioural needs and ESOL.
Do we need to do any preparation before the museum visits us?
Teacher notes will be sent to you once bookings have been finalised. Please read these carefully as they advise on any requirements our staff will need such as room set up and technical requirements (if booking an outreach workshop). You will also receive a health and safety information pack on booking. Quite often, we ask that children are put into groups prior to the visit to save time during the session. It’s helpful for you to share any documentation we send with other adult helpers that will be there on the day so that they know what to expect.
We may ask for other information that would be helpful for our staff team too, such as parking arrangements for outreach sessions, so please read any email communication carefully and respond where required.
What happens when you arrive at our school for a workshop?
Our team will arrive in good time to set up for the session, so we will need the room to be clear for at least 30 minutes prior to the start time.
What happens when we arrive at the museum for a workshop?
Head to the front desk to check in – make sure you bring your booking confirmation with you. The front desk will then let our team know you’ve arrived and we’ll come to meet you. Quite often we recommend the children use the toilets on arrival before we take you all through to hang up coats, store lunches and commence the workshop.
If you’re coming for a self-guided visit, you just need to check in with the front desk with your booking confirmation and they will help you with anything you need to know before heading to explore the museum.
How can I give my feedback?
We really welcome your feedback. You will be invited to scan a QR code to complete an online evaluation form at the end of your workshop session or sent one via email after your visit. All other feedback can be emailed to schools@tulliehouse.org
Do you have a safeguarding policy?
We do, you can find it here.
