something beautiful

about motherhood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSo…

...and meanwhile.

So much joy and anger and sadness and hope and anticipation and striving and sleeplessness for reasons good an ill. And frustration and thrill.

And gratitude.

And belonging.

Thank you to everyone who has reached into their pockets and their time and their...they're there.

[A little too much poetry slam and too little sleep recently, perhaps.]

I owe thank you notes all over. Jumping Monkey's head is finally on the road back to healing. Not as pretty as it could have been, not as ugly as it looked like it was going to be at some time. A litle mini-saga in that scar.

Next up: There was a little boy who swallowed a nut washer...I don't know why he swallowed a nut washer. I think he'll be fine! (I don't want to talk about what I have to do to check that. @.@)

Jumping Monkey Update II

(I know what you're thinking, internets. Don't go there. There's nothing electric going down. :P )

(Okay, fine. I know you went there anyway. I hope you have busfare back.)(Depending on your locale, they might not have bus service. Did you get the number of a cab company, or arrange a ride? Hush, you people with decent metro systems. We're talking about going Way Out There, not down in the urban core.)

So.

Revised.

That's what they call it when they Collapse ) so that they can suture a laceration a week after the original injury. Poor Monkey. Collapse ) All set for a really ugly scar, and a rather long course of healing. So we've gone for the stitches route.

Collapse )

Back in 6 days for suture removal. Unsurprisingly, they weren't interested in charging me more.[1] Wish they'd done it better in the first place. Still so very, very glad for all of your help.

[1] I live in a *really* litigious zipcode. But I'd rather have this resolved than gun for a punitive settlement later.

Jumping Monkey Update

...had to go back to the doctor today, as there was a suspicious color under the Dermabond.

After some discussion where the doctor felt it might be "secondary [something...healing? too many hours and too much other stuff since then, I can't remember]" based on examination with strong light and magnification...but palpation proved otherwise, and off we went for to buy antibiotics. (The doctor noted that he'd never seen this before. *shrug* it's what I was alert for, and I'm afraid poor M is going to have a rather prominent scar there. :P)

Which turned into rather more of an adventure than I'd hoped. And in retrospect I wish I'd called around for the best price on the liquid Keflex. At least the doctor's office didn't charge for the regular-hours service. And we have another followup visit scheduled on Friday.

M further exacerbated the problem by yanking a too-tight shirt (nabbed out of the clothes cupboard) over his head. I managed to keep the removal of the shirt from becoming a further problem, but damage is done. Poor kid.

7 ml of artificial orange Keflex is a lot to suck down 2x a day. I might divide it up into four doses of 3.5ml instead, which we'd discussed with the doctor earlier.

Back to the html and design mines.

[ETA: P.S. - Huge huge huge thank yous to everyone who sent something. Kind of welling up and overwhelmed with the relief and gratitude. (And to thank you to everyone reading who offered emotional support and sympathy, whether or not it came with anything else.)(And to everyone who meant to, but had something else going on, too.)]
