BUT….. the European Parliament still has to vote about it.

If you haven’t signed the petition against ACTA yet, please do it now, it will be presented to the European Parliament. And they are kind of the last hope we got to stop this. If the parliament votes NO to ACTA, it can still be stopped. SO DO IT.

ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Happ Halloween!

So who else got snow last night? This is insane!

It's day 2 of Halloween here in town.  One of the definitely amazingly awesome things about my hometown is that Halloween is a 3 night celebration: Mischief Night, Trick-or-Treating, and the Halloween Parade.  We actually move the night for trick-or-treating so that way it doesn't coincide with the parade - yes we are that obsessed with the holiday.  Best part of the snow last night? Totally deterred the typical Mischief Night issues.

We didn't really decorate that much this year - we've got the strobe light behind a gravestone and a fog machine on a remote, as well as a giant spider in a bush.  All by the door and sure to cause a few kids to be a little hesitant to come to the door but we also do two different bowls for little kids and everyone else (already ran out of Halloween play-doh, though). 

And I managed to make my cowgirl outfit work-appropriate, so I'll be dressing up in the office :).

So Happy Halloween in advance to all of those gearing up for their big candy nights tomorrow!
