How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 9th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID. Using an account does make it easier to see people's responses to your fills though!

There's this saying, regarded by many as objectively true, at least in vulcan culture that is, that tea makes everything better, and, you see, Spock is a subscriber to this mindset, at least he thinks that's how the terran saying goes... probably, as Jim would say: mayhaps. His bondmate (and wasn't that a pleasant thought? he had a bondmate now, and it was joyous) definitely caught up on the fact that he felt that way, considering his choice of gifts and insistence on going to every obscure teashop he could find on each shore leave (which Spock wasn't protesting, since he did like tea and indeed thought it makes everything better, especially alleviating stress and nervousness (and making for a great excuse when he needed to escape head-in-the-clouds crushing-on-him yeomen)) and he—Jim, that is—was definitely using this knowledge for evil (once again human saying, and those were 'rubbing off' on Spock more and more, being bonded to a human and what not) by distracting Spock with more and more elaborated tea set-ups and trivia about different ways of brewing. Spock could appreciate it, after all, vulcans had eidetic memory and their bond was strong, so for Jim to shield so strong as to actually hide something for him, and then give him a gift of knowing the new thing was... well, suffice to say, tea wasn't the only thing making everything better, since Jim exists and is doing just as good job as the hot-leaf drink usually does.

When Claudius turns his focus to ask Laertes about his suit, he stammers for a bit before Ophelia leans over the back of the couch to give his shoulders an encouraging squeeze, and he decides that as long as he still breathes there is hope.

"You shouldn't have been the dreamer today," Ariadne shouts over high winds, as she scrambles upward to get away from the rapidly flooding ground, "I had a great layout, and you're ruining it!"

Arthur tries not to sneeze, he really does, but Ariadne catches it and glares down at him as she continues scaling a fire escape ladder that rattles with another fierce gust and a spray of rain.

"You were right," he yells back apologetically as he climbs after her, and wonders if dreaming up some cold medication will settle the storm.

Most everything is on fire; not unusually so, Speedy has to admit as she makes her way through the wreckage, buildings choked with smoke and pouring bodies out into the streets, fleeing the night over the embers of the South-Central District.

No -- what's unusual here is the man putting out the fires, standing steady and soot-covered at the center of it all, commanding traffic and diverting survivors forwards because somehow despite being Gotham born and dead, the Red Hood knows Star City well enough to know the best paths to safety.

And it's not something Mia has time to dwell on -- there is a city to rescue and lives to save and a bomber to punish -- but there is still a moment of recognition that passes between them as she hefts up her bow and sails past the cocky two-fingered salute of the red masked stranger... enemy... ally? and she is left to wonder what exactly has changed in the last year that makes it feel good to know Jason Todd of all people has her back.

Roy breathes out the smoke from a joint through the bathroom window, trying not to think about how much he wants heroine when his 3 year old daughter is finally sleeping on the couch on the other side of the door in her kitty onesie. Jade would be coming back tonight from Hong Kong from doing who-know-what (Roy knows-what but would rather focus on the way his body relaxes when he exhales smoke and not Hong Kong and not how resentment builds at the exhaustion his beautiful child brings him and not heroine). The memory of dark eyes and a voice like the revving of a motorcycle makes Roy look at the small sandwich bag holding three more joints neatly roll in white paper and a cheap gas station lighter, the writing on the bag making his world feel steadier than the weed could ever hope to: "For when it gets too hard. -J."

. . .not that he was expecting it to be so; hell, at least Ramses had been willing to go on a second date, even though their first one had been interrupted by mummies and when they'd finally put them down by being arrested - which, Dad was right, was way harder to get out of - a sane person probably would have run away from him without looking back.

Susan doesn't look up as she packs the last sweater in her steamer trunk that she bought secondhand and is already showing signs that it might not make it to the new flat, ignoring Lucy's wide, wet eyes staring at her. At least it's better than the hot look Peter shot at her as he walked past her room three minutes ago, not that she'd admit to noticing that either. Edmund is absent, but he had already come through earlier, tried one last time to talk her out of leaving before Christmas, but at least he was decent enough to help her pack even as he tried to convince her to stay; it's a blessing he's not in the room at the moment, or she might have given in to him.
