How to Prompt

Prompts should be one prompt per comment, formatted in this way: fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence

Example: Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand

Prompts may also be open ended, unspecific, or anthropomorphic, such as:

any, any, I don't like sand
or
Earth geography, sand, I don't like humans very much, either

Prompts for relationships are welcome; a / is used for romantic/sexual relationships and an & for platonic. A prompt that uses both means the relationship can be written as either romantic or platonic, such as:

Star Wars, Anakin/&Obi-Wan, I don't like sand

Prompts may be repeated if they are unfilled; there is no obligation to read through every prompt to make sure yours isn't a repeat. This year's 3SF will stay open for new prompts through Sunday, February 11th.

How to Fill

Respond to your chosen prompt with a short fic of three sentences containing the fandom & characters requested!

Prompts can be filled more than once, as many times as someone has a new idea for them.

Notes & Rules

No, fills do not need to be exactly three sentences! It's more of a guideline. Please abuse grammar and punctuation as much as desired.

3SF is a Choose Not to Warn space. Spoiler and content warnings are not required, though writers are free to add them if they please. If you see something you don't like, just scroll until you do!

A Dreamwidth account is not needed to participate. Anonymous prompts/fills are welcome, or you can use Open ID.

He knows it's wrong not to warn the team of what's coming, but that'll just open up a whole new set of problems— questioning how he knows about this, or insinuating that he's lying to prey on their fears, or whatever else their excuse to antagonize him will be this time.

So he stays silent, which is remarkably easy despite his fears.

He's had quite a bit of practice.

Beatrix doesn't hate Steiner; she thinks she could respect him, his sense of duty and his determination even when he's in over his head, if he wasn't so clearly jealous of her and her fighting force. If he'd focus on improving his own skills without worrying about hers, he'd be a better fighter. Why does he insist on attempting to downplay her abilities, she thinks in frustration, instead of seeing to his own?

Bulkhead made Miko feel big, and not just when she was standing on his shoulder, listening to every step he took make the trees quivers and the rocks bounce. He made her feel big when he listened to her ramble about her love of shriek metal for two hours with an air guitar in hand, when he went out of his way to do the best for her (even if she hated it at the time), when she said that one day she'd be a Wrecker as tough as he was and he looked at her like he believed it was really possible.

With him, she never felt too small to be seen.

What could I have done? Kei thinks, even as he shrinks back, heart bleeding in his chest; Sho is waking, and soon, Kei knows. . .

Sho hisses, jerking and lurching upright, his eyes gleaming golden and his fangs extending behind his plush lips as he stretches his jaw; Kei waits, knowing . . . pretty blue cuts through the gold like ice, and Sho stills . . . then folds his arms around himself and sobs, crumpling.

Kei goes to him, murmurs apologies that could never be enough, and tries to think that he has chosen the better - that Sho may mourn, but he remains here, with Kei; it was selfish to keep him but to let him die surely could have been no worse, Kei tries to think, and clings to Sho as he burrows into Kei's shoulder as he had when he was truly the little one Kei named him.

Of course, Tsumugi knows perfectly well that real blood is a deep red in colour and not the bright pink it's always appeared as throughout Dangan Ronpa's run; after all, the characters in the series itself have always reacted to it as if it's a normal red, and so when she's participating as a member of the cast herself she has no problem reacting to it in a convincing way, even knowing what the audience watching it all is actually seeing in the broadcast.

As a diehard fan, though, she always likes to mentally apply a bright pink filter to all the blood she sees splattered around her and before her eyes. It reminds her that this is the Dangan Ronpa she loves, and that this is all just fiction and the people dying around her are just characters, and that she herself is just another character in the show.

Kei went to her, curled on one of the benches, looking past the construction - demolition - equipment to her mother's work; she had been coming here every day for four years, since she thought she was old enough to do so on her own, seeking comfort or perhaps a connection of some kind in the mural.

Kei slid a hand over her back, welcoming her when she let out a shaky breath and turned into his embrace; he hadn't liked it when she started roaming so, fretting over her in a way he had never, quite, with her father, even when Sho was younger - but then, Sho had been a wild creature like a stray cat long before he had found Kei . . . Hana was a spoilt and sheltered little thing - and . . . he would shield her from this, too, if he could; he frowned, looking up again and thinking.

“Ah,” Worf’s eyes gleamed, “but if the ritual is rejected, then is violence appropriate?”

“Rejected how?” Deanna asked carefully.

Worf scowled. “The so-called ambassador threw the tea in the Captain’s face.”

“Is that when you shot him?” asked Riker. He was carefully facing away from Deanna. Coward. She could still hear the mirth in his voice.

“The phaser was set to stun,” Worf corrected. “I acted in defense of my Captain.”

Riker lost his battle with discretion and laughed out loud. “Defending him against tea?”

“It was very hot,” said Worf, very seriously.

Deanna sighed. It was going to be a long shift.

Cass had never put as much effort into her trained talents of observation as she did when she first met Barbara Gordon: a person so different from everyone she had met beforehand; a comforting, solid bridge between her old life and the new one. She fixated on the analytical tint in Barbara’s eyes as they were illuminated by the computer screen, late at night in the Clocktower; on how they changed to a warmer hue when she smiled, raising her hand to Cass’s wrist in an affectionate gesture; on the physical prowess of her core when she put a tank top to spar with the sticks against Cass.

The way her own gaze was inevitably drawn, stuck to the pursed frustration of Barbara’s mouth when she spied something inconsistent on her panopticon; the inconsistence in how her breath either caught or quickened when Barbara smiled and touched her, bare skin to bare skin, no barriers; the warm at the pit of the stomach when Barbara’s strained, glistening muscles were on display, and how it mixed with the excitement of a playful, pretend fight –Cass had a lot less experience, categorising her own body’s unfamiliar reactions to such seemingly inoffensive input.

I have… a lot of feelings about Cass x Barbara and how Cass could start exploring this side of herself once she’s in a more stable place in her life, with someone both “safe” and distant, the way a mentor-crush can be, so this is where my mind immediately went ^^U

You wanted them to want things, Kei thinks to himself, rubbing his brow against the dull ache he swears he can feel setting up there; he is glad that they want things and that they will express it, even that they will whine and fuss, like the children they are - and besides that. . .

"There's more." Kei says, producing the new, unopened jar from the pantry while they are not looking and setting it down between them, lips twitching as their squabble stills to be overtaken by cheers.

When Will can’t sleep, when he is so tired that he feels electric with it and can only toss and turn, he carefully climbs out of the bed that he shares with Molly and treks over to their tiny guest-bedroom-slash-office. The bed there is less comfortable, always slightly dusty and smelling a bit like neglect, but in that little room, alone under the covers, he finds it easier to close his eyes and relax, even if sleep still evades him. It’s easier to imagine himself a few years back, curled up in his old bed in Wolf Trap, listening to the wind rushing through the fields outside, and listening for the quiet sound of footsteps on the front porch.
