Alright, one last reminder: The Fall 05 Club Fair is this Thursday the 18th. It goes from 6-9pm, but check-in starts at 5pm, so if anyone wants to help me set up, that's cool. It's in the 2nd floor of the MU, Ventana ballroom and we'll get a table and 2 chairs (we can get more from other tables, or people can bring their own).

We need some miscellany, stuff, and various things to set up on the table. Things like the D&D phb, X-Crawl phb, Stargate phb, random sci-fi/fantasy books, anime dvd boxes that people will recognize and some they might not, etc. I'm bringing the banner, my laptop to run a slideshow of pics like we did last year, and sign-up sheets (with name, email address, and lj name). freedomred is bringing a tv to play things on, I believe. miwasatoshi, if you could print out about 50 or so FAQs or email me the most recent version so I can print em?

Also, I seem to have misplaced the meeting and bowling date sheets, but I'll get those reprinted and post em up here. davetheinverted, if you'd post em to the website? These are the meeting dates from when I first confirmed them. I'm not sure if I ended up getting them to cancel the 3rd Thursday each month for Live Action night, but I'll deal with that when I get the sheets reprinted. Do we still want to do this (meet at ConHQ for Live Action on the 3rd Thursday of every month instead of having a meeting at ASU, or do we want to meet on that Thursday and move Live Action to the 3rd Saturday of each month, after Anime and Bowling, since we do have 2 saturdays a month off)?

See everyone at the Fair or the first meeting. Lates.

Alright, I got confirmation for the Club Fair. It's Thursday, August 18, from 6-9pm, with check-in starting at 5. Any volunteers to help staff it and/or ideas for stuff to bring? The picture slideshow and random anime seemed to go over well last year.

Also, now that I've got a bit more free time to prepare for next year, is there anyone who'd care to help me go through the Library and finish organizing it so that we can get an updated catalog?

Hey all. Got the info on the Spring Club Fair tomorrow:

Weds. Feb 2, 10:30am-1:30pm
Hayden Lawn

I will bring the banner and some newbie FAQs. If anyone can help staff and maybe bring a couple DVDs of some sort to show off (the boxes, that is, since we won't have outlet access), that'd be nifty.

I also need at least one person to hang around through the middle, as I've got class from 11:30-12:30.

Club Fair update

The Fair went quite well. Got 43 signups (only eleven of whom are J-names), and several more people who took flyers w/o signing. Thanks to Andy, A-----, Carlos, Jen, and Duckie for helping staff, and Dano for the loaners.

First meeting is Thursday the 26th, at 5:30 in MU 080. See everyone there!

A brief note for THEMers

I intend on creating a Cartel this school year reinstating the hikes, most likely to be called the Outdoors Cartel. I will be placing a cap on participants, most likely at 8-10, and they will most likely be about once a month. Note that much of this during the summer implies early mornings ... expect to see less of me at Reconvenes. I need to get back in shape.

If you are interested in going on hikes, planning out-of-town trips, or participating or even leading field trips for wildlife viewing, please comment and let me know. I'd rather this be a SIG than a cartel, but I know this isn't something big for every member in the club. (In fact, it's something that CAN'T be done by everyone in the club, 30+ people on a hike doesn't exactly work well logistically. ^_^)

When is the Activities Fair again? I will be available for the Club Fair, I'll be on campus anyway for an appointment with the foreign languages advisor.

I will be an active ASU student from this fall up until probably fall 2006 (spring 2007 if absolutely necessary), so now I get to firma aqui for every club census, w00tness.

As always, reviews are welcome, and doubleonad still owes me a Fighting Spirit review.

XOXO Carlos

Hey, everyone. Here's a brief rundown of things left until regular meetings resume.

First off, we have no reservation for bowling for August, because they were keeping the lanes open for Orientation Week, I'm assuming. So, that leaves us with a few options. Do we want to descend upon the MU anyway, and if so, do people want it on the normal second Saturday of the month (the 14th, this week), postpone it for a week or two to allow returning people a chance to show up, or just dump it for August and resume September 11 as scheduled?

Secondly, the Club Fair on Thursday, August 19. The actual event runs from 6-9PM in the MU, but we need to set up the table and such at 5, with Check-In at MU 226 Ventana Ballroom. We will be provided with 2 chairs and a 6-foot table (pre-assigned in alphabetical order, so I have no idea where we're at, exactly). I have the banner, will print out sign up sheets, bring along copies of the FAQ and cards, and Duckie has already volunteered to help staff the table. That gives us everything we really have to have, but I still need ideas for extra table stuff. I was thinking we could put out various DVDs of anime and SF stuff, both popular and obscure, and perhaps a rulebook or two for RPGs. This is just if anyone's willing to lend their stuff, of course. Feel free to comment with other ideas (remember, we're dealing with freshmen here, shiny things are good :\)

Finally, normal Thursday meetings will resume August 26th. We're having a Fiesta all semester, folks. MU 080, that is. If anyone's forgotten over the summer, 080's at the south end of the MU Lower Level/Basement, near the elevators. Yes, we have a regular room now, it seems, and hopefully we'll get most of the Fair signees to show and help us fill the space up.

I believe that's it for now, people. Later.
