Okay, short and sweet. Who wants to start doing manga reviews? I know THEM has multiple manga addicts (just ask my wallet -- at least it's cheaper than drugs... I think...) seems like we ought to be able to get a good group together.

You are all cordially invited to join in at the new THEM Anime Boards. Don't worry, you don't have to know anime - we have a lot of non-anime related forums and threads, and we don't discriminate by fandom.

The website design is going very well. We are planning on having the site completely up and running (with all present reviews converted) by the 15th. Yes, that's only 11 days, but we will manage, as we have about a half-dozen staff working on the conversion from 3.0 to 4.0.

Anyone interested in seeing 4.0b as a work in progress is encouraged to peruse the following URL:

We have also received several donations for website maintenance use from various and sundry donors, including Anime News Network, as well as readers in various parts of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Finland. All proceeds from these donations are to help offset the costs of running the site, including web hosting and Internet connections. We will be including a thank you page in THEM 4.0 to recognize the donors' contributions.

Anyone interested in writing reviews for THEM is encouraged to do so. Submissions will be accepted by the following formats:

In person at the meeting (typed only, I spend enough time reading handwriting at my day job at the pharmacy).
Via e-mail in .txt or .doc format.
Through LiveJournal.
At the THEM Anime Forums in the Reader Review Forum (http://www.themanime.org/forums - registration is necessary to access them).

This weekend, we will be at CopperCon running the Anime Room, however, progress will continue on the website thanks to our online staff members.

inagawayuu has thoughtfully posted an under construction page for the anime reviews site. As reviews are edited and cleaned up, I will be posting .txt versions on the THEM Anime Lite page linked from the main site.

If you are willing to commit to working on the THEM Anime website ...

I have no e-mail access at work. I can't do this over e-mail at all.

Therefore, you are encouraged to set up an account at the THEM Anime Forums (http://www.themanime.org/forums) and sign up on the list of people working on the website there.

I will give you access to the Site Administration Forum and discussion will ensue from there without interruption from other members who aren't involved with the site.

If you are unsure or unwilling to commit, do not sign up. I can't wait for people who don't want me to depend on them.

You don't have to know anime -- but you DO have to know at least HTML. I would prefer people with knowledge of PHP, SQL, CGI, and other programming languages, but I'll take what I can get.

This is NOT a paying job. I can not pay you. If you can't handle that, do not sign up. I haven't been paid a single cent to administer THEM Anime in six years, so unless you are willing to take this on as a free service to anime fandom, then please do not join.

If we do not have a working website by September, then THEM Anime will be closing since I am unable and unwilling to continue being the primary maintainer of this website.

If you are unable to contribute to THEM Anime by way of maintenance or design work, but are willing to contribute in some other fashion (donations, reviews, etc), you are still encouraged to join the web board anyway, or comment on this thread.

We had to do it....

Tonight, I made an open call on the THEM boards for a full-time webmaster and for some new reviewers. Reeka, you will still be compensated for your design, because we still want to use it, but we realize that you don't have the time to do what all we need to have done on the site. I need to know what you will want for payment for us to use the design.

We are NOT doing this because we are mad at anyone and this is not a personal thing. It's because Carlos and I can not keep up with the web side of things, and we simply don't have enough members of the club sending in reviews. We did this so the website can survive. We've worked too long on this site to see it go away, and if we don't to this or find a webmaster by the end of the month, then we will declare the review site Dead, and trust me, we *don't* want to do that!
