Well, it's been a few years, and I have no idea who still actually uses LJ or has this account on their friends' list, but this news is important enough to warrant one final post here.

As of mid-September of this year, my wife Maria and I will be parents. This is unexpected, but still a cause for joy.

Alright, I'm writing a term paper for my Folklore class and could use some help. Basically, I'm writing about urban legends (you know, things like the Vanishing Hitchhiker, the Jersey Devil, NYC sewer alligators, Bloody Mary, etc), but in video games. Specifically, what certain well-known video game urban legends are and how they've evolved because of the Internet.

So what I need from you all are examples of these legends, things you've "heard from a friend of a friend of your guildie's old class officer" sort of thing, or even the most famous ones that everyone's heard of and that have become a running gag. Things like the Metroid "Justin Bailey" code, the volcano in Battlezone, even the "Cow Level". Offline and online games are equally fair game.

Quick update: She got out of surgery around 7 last night and is doing fine, according to her parents.

My gf, goddesslain, goes in for jaw surgery today to correct her TMJ. I'll update everyone when I get news.

Ok, I figured this was more than sufficient cause to break my several month LJ absence:

Former "Baywatch" star David Hasselhoff had surgery after severing a tendon in his right arm in an accident in a London gym bathroom, his spokeswoman said Friday. The 53-year-old actor, who played lifeguard Mitch Buchannon on the TV beach drama for 11 years, was shaving at a gym in the Sanderson Hotel on Thursday when he hit his head on a chandelier, showering his arm with broken glass, his publicist, Judy Katz, said.

...I'm not sure what's funnier: that this happened, that it happened to David Hasselhoff, or that it somehow -didn't- happen to me, because that totally sounds like something that would.

Also, reason for my long drought between posts: WoW, pretty much. Got a 58 human warlock, 23 night elf hunter, 17 dwarf priest, 16 gnome mage on Sargeras (pvp) and a 40 orc shaman, 22 undead rogue, and 18 tauren druid on Perenolde (pve).

Not much has been happening other than that, really. Managed to successfully get through my first semester of Observation in a high school English class, which was cool. Also managed to scrape through with C's or better in every other class. Just have 3 semesters left to go now, woot.

Sorry I haven't updated, like, at all in the last couple of months. Here's a very brief rundown of what's going on:

-Got WoW for my birthday, explaining my absence and complete lack of reading my friends' list
-Ran Registration at AniZona again, which went well. 1200 people, and we sold out just as pre-reg stopped a couple weeks before the con. We also randomly had a flyer swap deal with ACen, so that was cool.
-Trying to get through the last week of school with my GPA intact.
-Celebrated mine and goddesslain's 2 year anniversary by taking her on the 40man guild raid of Disneyland. Got some nice drops there, including the [Earth Day Pin of Doom], a +15 Nature Resist trinket.

Last, but not least, my dad got fired today after 18 years of service to Southwest Airlines.

So, yeah. My life in a nutshell. How've you all been?
