↘ I'm newly in love with Mitch Hewer thanks to [livejournal.com profile] flareupwithlove linking me a clip of Maxxie on Skins and me proceeding to watch Maxxie-centric episodes. Ugh, Maxxie, the things your fabulousness and pretty mouth do to me. I even made a wallpaper strategically, so I get sex eyes all the time now. (Even when I have a video file or IM window open, he peers over the top at me. It's awesome.)

↘ I had like, five promising icon posts open in tabs and was all ready to upload new icons, but I only found one I really liked. Bummer. Speaking of icons, I have a few recent posts at [livejournal.com profile] ancientgate that I never linked to.

↘ Spent today with my sister as she got the SUV appraised. The dealership would take it off her hands for 10k, but she still needs 2k upfront. Plus, her BF is stuck in Kansas City. He'd originally flown out there with his uncle so he could help him drive his car back here, but apparently the guy at the shop had been lying to his uncle and the car is nowhere near ready. So they're stuck until he has money to buy a ticket back. It's been so quiet in the house lately, with just us girls here.

↘ I've had bizarre dreams lately. Last night, I dreamt I was at a con and ran into the Glee cast, then managed to get interviews from them. Before that...God, I forget, but it was epic in a Jurassic Park kinda way and involved the Glee cast somehow.

↘ Watched Slumdog Millionaire for the first time last night, and ended up watching the ending about five times in a row. God, it was perfect. Am also a little in love with Dev Patel, now.

↘ Added to my long, long list of TV shows to watch: Alias, Eureka (catching up), Royal Pains, Sanctuary (catching up), Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Six Feet Under, Skins UK (giving it a second chance), Warehouse 13.

↘ I'm sure I had more to talk about, but I have a post to write, tags to get to, and blog stuff to take care of before I give in and play as much Dragon Age 2 tonight, as I'll be at Jordan's all week.

↘ Oh, no, one thing. I made an appointment with a clinic tomorrow morning, to look into birth control and seeing if I qualify for Family PACT, which is a program that provides (hopefully, for me) free women's/reproductive health care. Free birth control if all goes well, yay.

↘ OMGGGGG, this cover of Teenage Dream by The Rescues is insanely gorgeous (especially the drums in the last 30 seconds). They also do one of my recent favorite love songs, My Heart With You.
His Face All Red: A fantastic, short web comic, totally worth the read.

♣ Jordan and I have a hotel room booked for tonight, exciting. There's an indoor pool at the hotel, so we're going to swim a little, watch a few movies (I'm 3 away from hitting 100 new movies watched this year), and try to polish off two bottles of champagne between us. I'll have time for some tags tonight, but will then probably disappear later on.

♣ TR: Everyone will be attending, but only Karen and Billy will be top leveled. I'll be tagging the rest around, let me know if you want a thread.

♣ Last night I started about 15 movie downloads, most of which were made before 1960. I'm most excited to get Jordan to watch A Fish Called Wanda and Seven Samurai, and I've got all the Cary Grant/Hitchcock films for myself.

♣ It's like Marvel left all their good titles for release this week, I've got about ten comics downloading right now, jeez.
Today we did Christmas Eve presents, which was mostly to tide the kids over until tomorrow. Jordan gave me a ring he bought for me last week (I picked it out, but he was mean enough to make me wait until now), and his mom gave us season five of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on DVD. BEST GIFT EVER. We immediately went and watched the blooper reel and a few deleted scenes, and we're going to watch the entire season because I don't think he's seen any of s5 yet.

Then we took a well needed break and went to the movies on our own - though we almost didn't, since it started snowing last night and will keep snowing until 9am tomorrow. Craaaaazy. But, we saw True Grit, which was just...yes. I'm not a big western fan, but it looked good and there was MATT DAMON'S SIDEBURNS so I couldn't resist. It was great.

Then we had dinner and came home and I'm snacking on an entire Christmas stocking full of candy, including Everlasting Gobstoppers. :D

Oh, and we also stomped around in the snow (all fresh powder), which was enough for me for the rest of this vacation.

And over the past few days I've downloaded some 5gb or so of DC comics, mainly various Batgirl volumes and a huge Supergirl torrent. Excited~
SHARKTOPUS IS ON RIGHT NOW.

Join me in AIM chat fyeahsharktopus to watch together!
♠ I got a Winters/Nixon, Spiers/Webster claim for War Big Bang, which should be interesting. XD [livejournal.com profile] eudaimon also sent me her draft of her big bang to fanmix unofficially, and I'm just gonna like, rub it in all your faces because it's amaaaaazing.

♠ When I came home from the library, my sister's bf and his aunt were watching the last ep of True Blood and discussing how hard Eric is. So strange.

[livejournal.com profile] dutchesschaotic and [livejournal.com profile] silensy making me watch Adam Lambert's rave in the forest finally got me over my irrational dislike for him. That, and people not talking about AI 24/7 anymore, anyway. Now I can't stop listening to If I Had You. -_-

January Jones is a great Emma Frost, but what the fuck is going on with X-Men: First Class? Ugh. Just. It's in the 60s, with younger Magneto and Xavier, but Emma is grown, and there's a young Banshee and young Beast but no Cyke or Jean? Fuck that noise. Fuck. That. Noise.

♠ Todd Stashwick said I am carved out of awesome. *_*

♠ Ping on iTunes was a disappointment. It would be much easier if you could like a song/artist directly from your iTunes, but you can't, so there goes that.
CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE CAST OF TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY?

WHAT DID FANGIRLS DO TO DESERVE THIS MUCH MALE GOODNESS IN ONE PLACE?

In other news, I have:

- Fallen in love with Benedict Cumberbatch thanks to Sherlock
- Played and finished Mass Effect 1 & 2 (finished 2 at level 24 and nobody died!)
- Made tons of new friends with Jordan (who is incredible, and things are going so well)
- Have stooped low enough as to apply at Pizza Hut, McDonald's is probably next
- Devoured s3 of Lost, I'm on 3x17 right now

Gail Simone commented on [livejournal.com profile] pseudicide's post at Girls Read Comics Too, which was incredibly cool.

Not much else is going on, really. I suppose I should do some sort of TR update post soon. I have nothing to do today but work off a hangover, go through 1.14 gb of new music, and look for more jobs to apply to.
Jordan and I saw Inception tonight, and oh my God, you guys. I can't even describe how I feel about it -- it's been so long since a movie's moved me like this, made me think and want to watch it fifty times just so I can analyze every single inch of it.

Also, I've stopped hating Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Also, I want Tom Hardy (HANDSOME BOB!!) in my pants like yesterday.

Also, Cillian Murphy, I still LOVE YOU.

Yaaaay, now Jordan and I are starting tonight's True Blood.
♣ Last night we all went out to TGI Fridays for a Battle of the Bands that one of Jordan's old friends was taking part in. I started with a Chocolate Martini, we had Jaeger bombs, I had three other amazing Fridays drinks. I was having a drunkenly good time (as those of you who follow me on twitter may already know :P), meeting people, I signed up for karaoke and picked Rock the Casbah for Casey...and then the next thing I remember after that was puking in the bathroom, hugging the toilet, lying on the floor crying and being carried to the car as we all left. Swear to God, I spent most of the ride home clutching Jordan and crying (like, I'm talking hyperventilating kind of crying) because I'd never been that drunk before so I was freaking the fuck out. Soooo, that's never happening again. :|

♣ Luckily my hangover today consisted of sleeping in until nearly 2pm and feeling sleepy most of the day, so I was still feeling good enough for Jordan and I to go see The A-Team tonight and YOU GUYS. THE A-TEAM WAS EPIC.

The A-Team is everything you could ever want out of a movie based on the TV show, and everything you could ever want for a really fantastically done action flick. There were amazing action sequences, every single actor in the movie looked like they were having a ball with their roles and it was just...man. After the intro sequence, when they show the team getting together for the first time, I turned to Jordan and said, "the movie could end right now and I would be HAPPY," and he agreed.

♣ I saw these shoes on tumblr today:

And when I squealed about them and declared I must find a pair like that, Fuego told me I just had to give him a pair of white shoes and he'd make them for me. Best friend ever.
Day 02 - Your favorite movie.
Starship Troopers

This may come as a surprise to anyone who isn't [livejournal.com profile] frogmajick, but Starship Troopers really is my favorite movie. I thought about Black Hawk Down, Lord of the Rings, Master and Commander, Sunshine -- all amazing movies, all in my top ten, but I don't nearly watch them as much as I do Starship Troopers. It's not just a cheesy scifi movie, but a great satirical look at war. And yes, it's kind of bad, but that's what I love about it.

I can quote just about all of it by heart, and it's been the movie I watch before every single job interview I go on. It calms my nerves. XD

"Come on you apes, do you wanna live forever?"

The days. )
New York won tonight, and it looks like I'll be getting my hopes up this season after our horrible no win streak last season. Everybody's looking in top shape, the team's gelling, our goal keeper is amazing -- AAAH! Hope! For New York! It's a fragile thing and I've had it shattered before, but I'll be damned if I still don't believe in them.

♣ My dad gave me his T-Mobile My Touch before he left the country, and I got it in the mail today! They were supposed to switch my number over to his account, but if that doesn't happen, I'll just be taking his old phone number. I've been playing around with it all day, and it's brilliant. The android system is great, and I love having all these apps - so far I've got Twitter, Facebook, Wordpress, LJ and a bunch of games on there. AND I can upload music to it (though I need to buy a bigger memory card) and it syncs my contacts with gmail. He had to give my sister his charger, but I don't have to buy a new one, since I figured out I can just use the firewire/usb cord my external drive uses to charge it through my laptop. Happy happy.

♣ My Sephora stuff came in the mail today; I only paid some $4 for a lip balm I already like, and I got a some mascaras, eye shadow/liner and a bunch of samples as a birthday gift.

♣ We didn't see Clash of the Titans today, since my sister's bf wants to see it too and he was in Vegas with his boys yesterday/today, so we'll see it when he drives back down tomorrow. If he's too tired, I told her we'll just go release the kraken without him.

♣ I love everyone today, and you know, while I don't really care about doing stuff on my birthday, it's been really awesome having a sister who actually cares about it and wants me to have a great day. And she said when I get a job, she'll sell me her Honda and co-sign an auto loan to do it if we have to. Things are looking up, man.

♣ Oh, and I read some comics, too. ([livejournal.com profile] girlreadscomics!)
SO GUYS. I'll be booking my plane ticket to San Diego for a week from now or something, but before I leave I'm going on a day trip to DC to visit a museum, which I've always wanted to do but somehow never got around to in my combined 6 or so years living in VA, and visit [livejournal.com profile] amberlynne.

MY PROBLEM IS I CAN'T DECIDE ON A MUSEUM.

I've whittled my choices down to the Newseum, the International Spy Museum or the National Air and Space Museum, which I've always wanted to see. I'm going to start looking at all their exhibits and see what grabs my interest the most. I'm excited. XD Maybe I can even plan it so I can visit two in one day, if I focus on a certain exhibit instead of trying to look at an entire museum. Though if I do the Newseum, I'd spend the whole day in there.

LOL, Predators.

And my mood theme reminds me: How fucking strange is it that Q-Tip from Generation Kill is on the list of possible actors for Captain America? I love him, but he doesn't fit the bill. Sorry bb Wilson, I still love you.
- Internet! I think these people around us actually like, turn their computers off at night, so I can only steal wireless internet during the day. And it's slower than what I'm used to, but hey, I'm here.

- Last night I talked to my sis in San Diego, and she offered her place to stay at, so I'll probably be flying back out to Cali in the next couple of weeks. My life, Jesus. On the plus side, I think we're close to convincing my little sister to coming out there too, because it'll only be a year until she's 18 and then she can come back out here to VA and live her life. It's a hell of a weight off my shoulders, though I'd feel much better if she comes with me. I still feel a little crappy about everything, but I'm focusing on the good. Like not being homeless on my birthday! (I can't believe I'll be 25 in a month, wtf is that.)

- Yesterday I finished s2 of Burn Notice and started on s3 of Psych, finally. I've watched a lot of movies too, including The Blind Side, which makes me wonder just why I used to hate Sandra Bullock. I mean, I couldn't stand the woman until years ago when I watched Two Weeks Notice, which is pretty much my favorite romcom ever, but I've loved just about everything she's been in lately. It's so weird.

- Fandom March Madness is looking like the final showdown is gonna be Sheldon vs Buffy. As of right now Sheldon and Brennan have been tied for much of the voting, though. Insanity.

I think I'm gonna take a walk. The weather's amazing, and there are more than a few places in Old Town (it's a five minute walk away) that have outdoor seating.
1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

Quotable. )
The new international trailer for Clash of the Titans is out, showing more awesome footage and some semblance of actual plot! And then it continues on with the same footage from the second trailer. I'm still excited, regardless. Greek myth!

I'm going a little crazy cooped up in the house. I go for a walk around the neighborhood to get exercise, but with everyone gone all day working, I have no way to get out and do some job hunting of my own except online, and I've heard nothing back. Old meme.

I guess I'll keep on tagging away, listening to delightful new music I'm finding through The Hype Machine, and work on this superheroes after the zombie apocalypse TV show prompt Stef gave me.

I never thought I'd see the day where Brad Colbert/Kara Thrace happened, but it has and I kinda like it. Hot blond badass on badass, what's not to love?

PS: What is with the hate on for Nate Archibald? D:
This is I watched and read in 2009! About ten less movies and a few less books than 08, but that's because I discovered comics and really plunged into them. I started a list, but stopped updating it. I've easily read twice the amount I have listed there. This year, I'm including TV episodes because I watched a crazy amount in the last few months of the year.

Everything I list is stuff I haven't read or seen before.

I assume there's a smallish Holmes/Watson fandom already, but if it doesn't motherfucking explode after this movie, then I'm going to be extremely disappointed. They were waaaaaaay beyond bromance, Watson was practically his wife. His awesome, kickass wife.

Also, after watching Criminal Minds last night and today, I've realized Holmes was pretty much the original profiler.

"Just so you know - you sound like a fortune cookie." [livejournal.com profile] eudaimon, he made a joke! I feel I must note this every time.
I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep, so I thought, 'I know what I'll do, I'll watch a movie. Oh! I haven't watched Pandorum yet! And we did get VIP seats and asked questions at the Pandorum panel at Comic Con, so I kind of feel loyal to it.'

BAD FUCKING IDEA AT 3 FUCKING AM, HOLY FUCKING SHIT.

I'm not a horror movie fan at all, but Pandorum was incredibly well done, scared the shit out of me, and I was actually engrossed in it the entire way through. Mostly because as soon as it starts, it's off. No wasting time on exposition or getting to know the characters in and out, just balls out claustrophobic (which is really what made this movie scary to me) space ship horror. Fuck yeah.

...I also take back everything I ever said about Ben Foster, because I actually found him hot.

Even though I still believe that he must have it written somewhere in his contracts that he gets dirty and grungy and gross in every single movie he makes as an adult to wash away every trace of Flash Forward.

I'm going to try to go back to sleep now. In daylight.
I'm so pathetic when I get sick, especially when it's a sore throat and, as it was last night, oversensitive skin. Those are the two symptoms I hate most of all, and I'm mostly just glad nobody was around at 11pm when I was whining pathetically into my pillow every time I had to swallow. Sigh. I'm pissed the sore throat is still around for a second day, usually it's fading by now. I don't need it still around tomorrow, I've got the first Women's Club meeting, then class, and I'd like to not feel horrible for the four hours I'm going to be spending on campus.

Drag Me To Hell was kind of underwhelming. I'm just not a horror movie kind of person, so it takes a hell of a lot to impress me - or even find a horror movie worth watching and I was mostly bored through it.

--------------

So, I thought I'd posted that yesterday, but in my Grey's-Pass Out-Grey's-Medicine-Pass Out haze I apparently didn't. But! My fever finally broke about 1am this morning, which meant I slept a full 10 hours without waking up once, and most of my sore throat is gone. It's still a bit sore, but it's more a dull ache than a sharp pain when I swallow. Hooray!

I still feel like crap, but at least it's a manageable sort of crap, and I can get up, watch the baby for the two hours I'm needed, then head to campus. I could do with a full back massage, though.
The baby's had a really bad runny nose for the past week, and I've finally caught whatever he has. Sore throat and fatigue when I woke up today, ugh. I've had two cups of tea, some cold syrup, a banana for lunch, and stayed in my warm warm bed watching movies on my laptop.

A few reviews of what I've watched in the past few days because I'm feeling sorry for myself and you should amuse me: )

Next up is Jennifer's Body and Drag Me To Hell, and I'm mad at Gamer for being lame and not playing on anything. The torrent I got it from was taken down, too, so I can't troubleshoot.

I should eventually haul my pathetic self out of bed and get somewhat festive for giving out candy tonight.
I watched Die, Mommie, Die last night when the internet went out. That was the single most hilarious and awful thing I've ever watched. I mean, I get that it didn't take itself seriously, but god, some of it was just painful. Stark Sands telling Jason Priestly to take out his bratwurst* and put some mustard on it for him was nothing sort of FUCKING HILARIOUS, though. Stark was worth it. I think. Yes, he was.

I have to redo some of my homework because I did too much of it (how retarded is that?) and then I've got X-Factor #50 to read. Fifty, guys. I mean, wow. After this is when they move to the 200 numbering, and I think the next issue is going to be a double issue. \o/ Sooooo many comics this week, though; the list of them filled up my entire Wednesday section in my school planner. Today is a happy day. :D

Meanwhile, meme:
