*whimper* ...I want to leave work early tomorrow for ninja ukelele shenanigans with Amanda Palmer. Sadly, I suspect TPTB are not going to be too keen on this plan. Especially since I've had like 8 hours off this year already early, of which I have only made back about 5.5 so far. And I have to leave early both Thursday next week (wedding oh god) and Thursday the week after (flight to LA OH GOD). *TWITCH*

I know, I know, my life is epic pain and suffering etc, these are not exactly big or bad problems. I just. Want! SIGH. Being indispensable, at least least one of a very very small staff? SUCKS.

Sadly, under these circumstances I don't think I can parlay having worked an hour late today into getting away with it. In related news, IH all [particular product that by now I am really sick of both sampling and testing]. Seriously, whenever they are done with that road it better be the most awesome road ever. Because grrrrrr.

However, despite getting home way late I have got a lot done already, so frankly? YAY ME.

And, lastly and totally unrelatedly, a very very happy birthday to my most darling [livejournal.com profile] melissa2u. I hope that you have a great day, I am thinking of you and sending much much love, always, and I hope this coming year treats you with kindness and brings you many joys, both the anticipated ones and the ones you don't expect. *lovelovelove*
Just got home from spending a ridiculous amount of time in town mooching around. I took a massive pile of stuff in to Real Groovy to trade in, and to my everlasting joy, they actually took five seasons of Buffy off my hands. \o/!!! Blah blah music store geeking and general purring over loot. )

And, wow, I can't believe it's like 7pm already. Where did my weekend go? Eek. I should go try and knock some more stuff off my to do list now, huh? YIKES.

Although, oh! If it's that time here, then it means it must be right on midnight in her time zone, so lastly and most importantly, I want to wish a very, very happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] melissa2u, one of the most awesome, generous, fun, talented and generally kickass women I know. *pouncetackles* I hope you have a lovely day, honey, and that you can continue to enjoy your crazy snow, and that the family spoil you, and that the coming year is filled with shiny things and all kinds of goodness. And I can't wait till we get to rock another GA line together (or, you know, just hang out and watch bootlegs for houuuuuuuuurs). Much much love!

Hi, all. We're going with the sort-of-notes format (edit: or, okay, apparently not. sorry?) again because, well, despite the fact I've been online for less than five hours today (shut UP, it's a Saturday! I am normally online for much longer on the weekends! Quit judging meeeee!) I can hardly see the screen at the moment (stupid tiredness, stupid eyes, stupid brain, etc), so:

But, firstly! Most importantly! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MELISSA! *smooches you* I hope you had a good day - it sounds as if you did - and I'm glad your family were wonderful for you and that work went okay and you got to speak to so many friends. Much love, as always, and I hope to have a chance to snug you in person again sometime in the near future. Cheers, darlin'.

~I finally went to the mall today. I've only been putting this off for, uh, a month? Maybe a month and a half? My location is... bookshop! )

Okay, I had to lj-cut a lot of this because it's short but it looks REALLY LONG when posted. Um. Please bear with me and read it anyway, I swear it's not all (or even mostly) fannish. )

And, lastly, we come to the point where I am going to take shameless advantage of you talented and knowledgable folks (yes, I am buttering you up for a reason, but it also happens to be accurate!) and have a short sharp round of Help Me Obi Wan FriendsList, You're My Only Hope!:

1. Does anyone have reccommendations for (preferably) desktop-based software (or some kind of firefox or gmail plugin, maybe?) that functions as a daily calendar/reminder type of thing? I don't know if I'm describing this well, but I am basically after something that will pop up or that is very easy for me to remember to look at daily that will tell me things like "this is X's birthday" or "I did/must do Y!" on such a day. I mention this firstly because I have SUCKED with birthdays this month so much I cannot even express it - I was late for Sunny and Mel and I forgot to ring Nicole entirely - and I love the semagic reminder feature but obviously, a) not everyone has their birthday listed on LJ and 2) there are non-birthday reminders I want as well!

2. KAT DO NOT READ THIS ONE, OKAY? Can people rec me really good Jack/Daniel? Please? Because I can totally see it, and I want to read it, but for whatever reason I am apparently inordinately, horribly picky about this pairing and so far have only read like three fics TOTAL that actually work for me without making me twitch or sidle away going "...nah". Just, you know, whatever your favouritest fics are. That would be lovely. Thank you. We now return you to your regularly scheduled LJ. Unless I think of something else, anyway. <3

In conclusion? Vala/Cameron/Daniel. Because yum.
Melissa, how are you so awesome? I just got the parcel (Mum said it got here yesterday) and thank you so very, very much. I love the card, and yay, kidlets! And my boss also thanks you because he's getting a copy of the Pearl Jam next week from me, now. *g* *snuggles you like whoa* (And Star Wars Christmas ornaments! SO COOL. *is fucking spoiled like mad, yes*)

* * *

So, my room is crazy fucking disorganised right now (to be honest? It hasn't been straightened up since I went mad wrapping things two days before Christmas, what with me not being home for a fortnight and then being grumpy and apathetic for the last week) and it's driving me crackers, so the first thing I did this morning when I got up was to take a 'before' shot, in the hopes it will inspire me to get as far as being able to have an 'after' shot. We shall see. About six hours have passed and I have read my lj, answered fewer emails than I should have, talked to Kat a bunch (WHEE), tidied approx one square meter (this would be good except my room is huge) and watched an episode of SG-1. Oh, and realised the really old shirt I was wearing that I found in the wardrobe was pretty much obscene and so I shouldn't wear it unless no one else is home (which is sadly not the case). I was aiming for something cool because it's super humid but, uh, I think that may have been a bit TOO thin. Heh. Needless to say, I got changed. :D And now I am going to try and write, and also tidy. Either way I win, right?

* * *

Okay, and for the sake of honour, I should do this since I bugged several of you already (hi I am needy!) - comment to this and (unless you ask me not to) I shall tell you at least one reason why you are made of awesome. This sobriquet covers essentially all of my flist AND the people I think are great but haven't friended back yet (because otherwise my head would explode with too much to read) so, you know, go nuts. Or raisins. Or possibly even sultanas.
