Right. I worked all day and my car went from GREEN \o/ right back to BROWN /o\ in the space of nine hours because it was so dry/dusty/windy and well, I really don't have much of anything to say/contribute to the world. So I'm going to explain about the shoelaces and spam you with some other random pics.

kitties 005

BigDykeyWorkboots (please pretend they're not dirty) with sparkly blue $2-shop laces. I have to express my individuality somehow! (Also: SHINY.) Heh, you can also see how the insides are getting ripped up (and, by extension, ripping the shit out of my socks) after only seven months. For the record, this is the smallest size boot they make and it is a size too big for me, really. *rejoins the munchkin army*

[Oh, HEE. I just found the video I took Christmas Day of my brother opening his Christmas present from L. - a pink Disney Princess esky-bag with three cans of beer in it. V. amusing. He says he'll use it, too. *is proud*]

kitties 006

Little Bangladeshi kitties I got from Trade Aid the other week. I really shouldn't be spending money on non-essentials at the moment, but I kept being drawn back to them because CUTE and I just couldn't take it and I had to get them. John is on the left, Rodney is on the right, and I am not crazy because Kat thought exactly the same thing before I even told her. Also pictured, my fimoTP from that most excellent of Emmas.

Hawaii 155

Taken from the rim of the crater on Hawai'i (the big island, that is) on the Tuesday of our vacation. I really love this shot, and it was my background on the laptop until it got ousted by the picture of the girls down on the beach.

Hawaii 111

This huge tour group had got in front of us, so Barb and I hung back to let it go on and just after they'd vanished, we caught this rainbow arcing out from the crater floor. It was freaking awesome and I think we were possibly the only people who got to see it.

Hawaii 092

This is lava from the September 1982 eruption. We were walking on this area when it cracked under my feet, bent the steel plate in my boot and gave me a wicked blister/sore as a result.

Hawaii 079

No prizes for guessing why I took THIS one, due South people. :D

Hawaii 076

Took this for Lissie and Joy.

Hawaii 074

...this was in the window of the US National Geologic Survey building on Kilauea. I promptly fell over cackling while B. was very tolerant and didn't pretend not to know me. :D

Hawaii 021

Rainbow Falls, Hawai'i.

Hawaii 020

The view behind our condo. (The dark area is a golf course and a canal.)

Hawaii 010

The Monday morning, when I was there by myself I woke up and there were four Blackhawks circling the harbour. I kinda had a moment, kay?

April 078

Sundial on Mt Eden, Auckland. Look! It's pointing at lots of interesting people!

April 027

Looking back across the Waitemata Harbour from Mt Victoria towards the city centre (Auckland). I just like this photo, okay? I know I've posted it before.

yoink

SO MAYBE I REWOUND THIS BIT MAYBE A LOT. guhhhhhhhhhhh. (free if anyone wants it, I just-- had to make it. I have no space. I just-- he yoinked him. ngh.)

jam1

I wanted a Claudia Black icon for ages, and I LOVE her line as Vala in SG-1 in response to someone using the term 'jam-packed' where she expands it to "packed full of jam!" and 'jamboree' keeps making me think of that moment (and squeak), so I was all "ooh, I can put it on an MJ icon!" and so I did. And then I stopped and thought about how it sounded (a first!) and realised a lot of people wouldn't get the reference and I'd just be opening myself up to more mocking than usual, so, er, no. But hey, I share here anyway. :D

ElizabeththeWraithgif

I couldn't help myself. Cap from Liz (thank you kindly, sweetheart) and icon for [livejournal.com profile] blue_raven if she wants it, and anyone else should they so desire to have an injokey Armageddon reference. *g*

[Spoiler for SGA 3x12 Echoes below!]

Aaaaaand I still have a headache (today's work texts - Me: Are there Ancient whales just off the coast of NZ or something? Because, ow, headache. BlueRaven: There must be whales! I haven't been able to get rid of this headache for four days. I say we nuke the damn things! NZ: *is nuclear free* ...darnit!) so I think I will take in an episode of SG-1 and then go to bed. I watched Meridian last night which was, um, not the best timing ever (to put it mildly) and got really invested in it and just-- waaaaaah. TEAM. So then I had to keep going to get to Redemption for the Rodney-factor to make myself feel better and omg, did NOT disappoint. I just. He. He is SO AWESOME in those episodes. He looks gorgeous (much better hair, sweetie!), Russia was obviously very good for him (*significant looks at someone who knows who she is* :D) and is just adorable and woobie and can I lick him, please? Also oh my god the bit about "Anubis, this is your agent", I DIED and then I had to rewind it which, since i HAVE NO REMOTE FOR MY DVD PLAYER meant going back to the very beginning of the episode and watching all the way through again cos I can't fast-forward/rewind, I can only jump scenes and SO WORTH going to bed after midnight, oops. Night guy kinda fired, as usual. Right. Byeeee!

Lovely, lovely photos. And I've stood on that sundial! Six tour buses followed us up Mt Eden, I have no idea, it was a shitty day for tourists to be standing on a hill. But! Sundial love. Awesome. :)

ICON ICON ICON OMG. SPECIAL IN-JOKES FOR THE WIN. *hearts so much*

I think maybe I should turn in my Greenpeace membership? *snickers*

From: [identity profile] shihadchick.livejournal.com

Thank you! *g* And, hee, yay! We kiwis are awesome with that kind of thing, yes. *has stood on it, too, oops* :D Man, Mt Eden is dire for tour buses, I'm not sure why because, okay, yes, view and exciting crater (though, uh, after Kilauea Mt Eden and One Tree Hill look like pocket change) but it's always windy as fuck up there and the carpark SUCKS. I guess it's cos they can't really go up One Tree Hill. Yay sundial, anyways.

YES EXACTLY OMG. My photoshop recovered from whatever snit it was in the other day so I HAD to make it. <3

...me too. Oops. *snerk*

From: [identity profile] blue-raven.livejournal.com

I haven't been up One Tree Hill since the tree came down, I wanted to remember it as having a tree there. And it's not as if the view's much, it's only Auckland. *high fives Mt Vic and Wellington* :D

I need photoshop. I cannot cope with gimpshop being annoying all the time. AND I AM SO GLAD IT LOST IT'S SNIT, BECAUSE I LOVE IT. *squeals all over it*

There's a little Nelson Muntz in all of us. *grins*

From: [identity profile] shihadchick.livejournal.com

TOTALLY understandable. The skyline still looks wrong. :(
And it's not as if the view's much, it's only Auckland.
:P!! WENCH! *snerk*

Oh, drat - I had a, um, perfectly and totally legal (/Nelson) copy on disc a couple years ago but it got passed on to some people over the pond and I never got it back or I'd try and send it on to you. Rats. Am glad you like, though - it's very bare bones, but, well, that seemed appropriate. (I suspect in reality it'd be more like "Elizabeth! The Wraith are coming! ...but no worries, eh?")

HEE yes.

I think the problem with Mt Eden and tour buses (also, hi, just catching up on two weeks of flist so belated commenting) is because it's on a direct route from the airport into town. I have heard a rumour that they're going to ban buses, though, because they're eroding the mountain.

Although...mountain, HAH. It takes ten minutes to walk up. That's barely a hill.

From: [identity profile] mrsronweasley.livejournal.com

Ooooooh, those are gorgeous pictures of Hawaii, and man, I'm all jealous-like and whatnot. *g* Also, your boots are possibly the best things ever - it's the sparkly blue laces that cinch it, I think. *loves*

(*significant looks at someone who knows who she is* :D)

*giggles* What can I say, he seemed to get gayer in "Redemption" so, really, there's only one explanation. Andrey was really good in bed. *cough*

But seriously, DH rocked redemption, he was absolutely hilarious. Also, the piano backstory! WAH! *wibbles for him* He kind of broke my heart there a little bit. *sigh*

I hope the evil headache goes away soon! :(
*HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGS!*

From: [identity profile] shihadchick.livejournal.com

Thank you! *snugs* And, hee, yes, am v v happy with how my boots look at the moment. The funny thing is - the cheap crappy sparkly laces? Are actually LESS damaged than the official NZ Safety-approved ones they came with. <3

He really, really, REALLY did. (And, uh, yeah, I have to admit, my first thought honestly was "yay! he had a good time with Andrey!" so congratulations on entering my personal canon, dude.)

God. Yes. Exactly!! And, mrrh, yes. PUPPY. *clings at him and pets him a lot* Mine too, man, mine too.

It's gone today! Except I think I have to use the ultrasonics at work again so it may come back. But this time I will be prepared and will nuke the whaleshave painkillers. :D *snugs you a very much lot*

*finally understands the shoelaces comment* Shiny! Pretty! Very cool. And nice, nice pictures. All of my friends are such good photographers, and then there's me who could mess up a perfect shot in perfect conditions inside of thirty seconds.

From: [identity profile] shihadchick.livejournal.com

*grin* I didn't want to explain to anyone when I could illustrate with a pic! And, thank you! And, wow, yeah, I know exactly what you mean - I'm generally far far FAR more to that end of the photographic spectrum than to the good end, these are just lucky shots, babe.

From: [identity profile] shihadchick.livejournal.com

*grin* Sweet, glad you like it! And, just-- mmm. Happy place moment. *drifts off into contemplation* :D

From: [identity profile] la-woman.livejournal.com

Gorgeous pics, Claire. I love the one from the rim of the crater and the Rainbow Falls one. Also: your shoelaces rule!

From: [identity profile] shihadchick.livejournal.com

Thanks, Ally! *grin* I still need to post that one of you and B sitting on the deck with your laptops because HILARIOUS.

From: [identity profile] mishloran.livejournal.com

From: [identity profile] shihadchick.livejournal.com
