I maybe volunteered to do a show report. For the twenty-fourth. (Which is in four and a half weeks. Oh my GOD.) Um. I mean, I'm sure they'll pick someone else, but. Heh. *crosses fingers*
Summer: "I'm a vegetarian, and by the end of the shooting I was eating steak!" (on all the weight training and fight work she had to do for Serenity. I had a flashback to this line at dinner, okay?)
I saw a lady walk past me when I was rushing to be somewhere yesterday, and I caught just a glimpse of her pendant. She was gone by the time it resolved properly in my mind's eye - it was a just-big-enough-to-be-clear stargate. It was so very very cool and I desperately want one. Because it was beautiful. I need to stop wanting very delicate one-off type jewellery, I just don't have the hand-eye coordination, time or patience to make it, let alone the skills.
I definitely didn't think anything about puppies during the SGA panel. (No, actually, I really didn't, which is probably for the best, because some of my/our own personal canon really needs to not be right behind my eyes when I'm looking at people.)
Also, am being frustrated like crazy by the lack of information on gateworld/in canon in general, in that okay, yes, Novak should just be a civilian in the Stargate programme and all, but. She wears the same uniform as the military people and if there is insignia (am about to rewatch Prometheus Unbound ('Hans Ollo' hee OH DANIEL JACKSON I ADORE YOU) to double check that) I can't read that anyway because, okay, yes, dork, but: dork with terrible eyesight and inability to read military ranking symbols. (I tried in my JAG days, and just... yeah. I lose.) And, um, yeah, I realise five days before it's due is so not the time to start agonising over tiny canon details that probably no one a) cares about or b) can confirm/deny but hey, I like to sabotage myself in style, ya hear?
Also, having watched the episode with the alternate 'verse Sam and Kawalsky (me, watching the teaser: *with great delight and shock* "KAWALSKY?! ...dear show, HOW many times are you going to make me do that already? *loves*", but I digress) last night, I am being intensely frustrated because: if they could rejig the baby Zed that Jack built to get to the Asgard homeworld for Alternate!Sam to get to THEIR Asgard homeworld by, basically, doing physics and cannibalising a staff weapon, why the fuck couldn't they do that to get to Atlantis? Is there an actual answer or is this a black hole of canon that I should run the hell away from before my brain hurts?
Dear self, stop trying to make the pretend physics work. Especially in conjunction with continuity. This will never end well. Love, me.
I'm trying not to make this primarily Stargate but 1) that's what my brain is running on right now (and it's my next deadline) and B) uh... I got nuthin'.
Oh, no, wait, I got something! I was thinking at work today that I absolutely want to refilk Banned from Argo along the lines of how we were joking (I think in
shoemaster's journal?) about how dS fans should maybe be banned from Inuvik. Because that would be HILARIOUS.
In addition, last night Mum and I watched the penultimate episode of Slings and Arrows S1, and you know how I was all "I've seen the first five episodes"? Yeah, not so much. I'd seen the first four episodes and about the first five minutes of episode five. So we both really enjoyed it but my GOD am I ever viciously hoping that Holly gets, like, run over by a steam roller or something. Cripes. I just... *fumes with intense dislike and horror* And, okay, she's a complete cow and has very little to reccommend her at this stage aside from the gorgeous hair, but I do slightly enjoy Claire in S&A if only because then I get to hear Paul saying my name. Ahem. I never said I was a good person! :D Also, Rachel McAdams, omg, how are you so beautiful? And I also would like to punch Richard in the nose A VERY MUCH LOT. The end. Oh, and I also want to get my Reduced Shakespeare dvd back from T soon because I am craving it. Heh.
I was super efficient this weekend and bought two cards. Of the, er, mumble-ten-or-so I meant to get. Damn, that seemed so much more impressive before I put it in context. Rats. Also, there may be more Polls of Ambiguity and Contraryness to follow shortly. Hopefully. Oh, and a local-fen type poll thinger, because I think those of us in the Big Damn City should try and get together sometime soon.
I am having thoughts about coffee, or about someone's house for dvd-age (I would love to volunteer my own, because I like my house and also I am a big fan of not having to go out but I do freely realise it's a fair way out for most folk) or about having Fangirl Rambles around various scenic places (weather permitting) - although I will freely admit that latter is mostly because I totally want and need to do more exercise type stuff and I am far more motivated to do so when there are people to talk to rather than just having to let my own thoughts go all Coriolis effect on me. :D (That metaphor is far more picturesque if you start thinking about a particular Simpsons episode.)

Except in another shot, it looked more round than chevron-like. Ah, well.

But all the same, thank you muchly for remembering and coming back to comment - I have very little time left before it's due now and just rewatched Critical Mass the other week anyway, so I'm kinda glad to not have to do it again (even though there is totally a lot to love there. I am just being distracted by S3 of SG1!)
