Effective January 2006, White Wolf expects that all persons charging money (or paying money more than once) of any amount for attendance at White Wolf system/setting-based games must also be paying members of the White Wolf corporate fan club, the Camarilla. This sort of thing always comes down from suits in Marketing that we've never heard of, who never actually wrote a bloody game in their life. *sigh*

What policies are they enacting on the basis of this expectation?

The devils and the details therein

I don't know how to make links work in LJ, but this link will provide more detail, and links to the official White Wolf policy statement, blogged on their forum.

Mind you, I'm not *positive* that UMF-Con's traditional (and effectively mandatory, for the good of the pseudo-economy if nothing else) Table Fees aren't allowed under the loophole clause. It mentions "Generic Events Tickets, etc."...but table fees are not, in practice, generic, and "etc" is Latin for "I'm too lazy or vague-thinking to cough up the rest of this list". I detest Style Guides, but were I to write one, it would mention how the word "etc." really should only follow a list with more than one freakin' item on it, unless your audience is composed of telepaths. (Ever have your brain Slashdotted, chummer? Bring red hankerchiefs. That wetware server overload can really give you serious nosebleeds.)

Sally, by the way, is not at all sure she *wants* to be a Black Furies tribe Garou ala' WW's Werwolf: the Apocolypse anymore, and may just announce a boycott of all non-vacuumcleaner-related White Wolf activities as a protest until such a time that (quoting here) "those slackass poser geeks running things down in Georgia pull themselves away from their busy schedule of being blown by wannabe vampire witches and tell their good-for-nothing suits to stop being greedy bastards. We also want a full 'What-the-hell-were-we-thinking' Apology in writing on their website, with a Revised edition six months later that actually has all the words spelled correctly."
