MARVEL TELEVISION: THE CONUNDRUM OF THE MCU

Sometime between the release of 2018's "THE AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR" and 2019's "THE AVENGERS: ENDGAME", Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige made an announcement that stunned a good number of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans. He claimed that the ABC series, "MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D." was never part of the franchise. Not only did this news stun a good number of fans, but me as well. ( Collapse )

CONTROVERSIAL FINALE: "BOARDWALK EMPIRE" (2.12) "TO THE LOST"

The Season Two finale of "BOARDWALK EMPIRE", (2.12) "To the Lost" has been viewed as an end of an era for a good number of the series' viewers and television critics. It marked an event that left some fans satisfied and others in a state of anger and resentment. But one cannot deny that this event – along with a few others – allowed the series to enter a new phase for its third season. ( Collapse )

"DAREDEVIL" SEASON THREE (2018) COMMENTARY

The last episode of the Marvel Netflix limited series, "THE DEFENDERS", ended with costume vigilante Matt Murdock aka Daredevil asking his compatriots - Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand aka Iron Fist - to leave the Hand's crumbling headquarters, while he remains behind to convince his former girlfriend Elektra Natchios to leave with him. The Midland Circle building crumbled to the ground. And the limited series' last scene featured a battered Matt waking up in a room with a nun by his side. Season Three of "DAREDEVIL" conveyed Matt's further adventures following the Hand's destruction. ( Collapse )

"STARDUST" (2007) Review

When I had first seen the poster for the 2007 movie "STARDUST", I could not drum any interest in watching it. In fact, my interest remained dormant after viewing the trailer. Then someone suggested that we see it, considering there was no other movie in the theaters we were interested in seeing. I said "no thanks". However, it did not end there. This "someone" literally had to coerce me into seeing the film. And you know what? I am glad that he did. ( Collapse )

"BEING HIS OWN IRON FIST"

Unlike many fans of the Marvel Netflix (aka Defenders) franchise, I actually enjoyed its fourth series, "IRON FIST" very much. Especially Season One. I managed to enjoy the series up until the moment when Danny Rand decided that his girlfriend and martial artist, Colleen Wing, should become the new Iron Fist. After that . . . oh dear God.
