MARVEL Television: The Conundrum of the MCU

MARVEL TELEVISION: THE CONUNDRUM OF THE MCU

Sometime between the release of 2018's "THE AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR" and 2019's "THE AVENGERS: ENDGAME", Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige made an announcement that stunned a good number of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans. He claimed that the ABC series, "MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D." was never part of the franchise. Not only did this news stun a good number of fans, but me as well. Collapse )

"Breaking Up the Avengers"

"BREAKING UP THE AVENGERS"

Ever since I first saw "CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR" back in May 2016, I have been in a state of confusion over the series of events that led to the break-up of the Avengers within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The more I examine those events created by the film’s screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the more I find the narrative confusing. So what exactly happened? Collapse )

The MCU and Its Spider-Man Fetish

THE MCU AND ITS SPIDER-MAN FETISH

I have a confession. I am getting tired of the media pushing this idea that the MCU "needed" Spider-man. I get it. The media has been churning out these articles on behalf of Disney Studios and Marvel Films. But I find this mindset disturbing. The media and many of the franchise’s fans are wallowing in this belief that without Spider-man, the MCU will fall apart. What? The franchise had survived and THRIVED for eight years without Spider-man. What was this sudden need for him? Collapse )

"The Sokovia Accords: A Narrative Blunder"

"THE SOKOVIA ACCORDS: A NARRATIVE BLUNDER"

Three years ago, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), along with Marvel Films and the Disney Studios, introduced to the world the thirteenth entry of the movie franchise, "CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR". Although the movie is officially regarded as a Captain America solo film, many moviegoers and critics tend to view it as an unofficial Avengers film. The film also introduced a new story arc to the franchise called the Sokovia Accords. Collapse )

"THE AVENGERS: ENDGAME" (2019) Review

"THE AVENGERS: ENDGAME" (2019) Review

After eleven years, three phases and twenty-two movies, a certain era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) came to an end with the release of "THE AVENGERS: ENDGAME". This movie became a major win for both Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Films at the box office and for fans who saw this as the culmination of the Infinity Stones story arc. Collapse )

"THE AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR" (2018) Review

After ten years and eighteen films, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) finally released "THE AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR". The movie represented the first half of a culmination of the previous films that either focused or touched upon the super-villain Thanos' attempt to attain possession of a collection of powerful gems known as the Infinity Stones.
