Kind of?! Mostly I wanted to draw something cool!

Four is threaded by a mind controlling spider critter called a Threader which is part of The Arathim Ascendancy hivemind. The Chain trust that Four has found an agreement with it and is still himself. However, at some point he would be called to the Ascendancy so that’s what I drew.

The Ascendancy and Gelfling have a history of war and destroying each other’s nests and villages. However, for this AU, both are suffering from the Darkening. It is a blight slowly killing the land and infected creatures are going mad. The Chain are seeking the source of and a way to end the Darkening.

For Four, a Darkening-sick Threader latched onto him and he took pity on it and has agreed to let it stay. As a Gelfling he has a stronger connection to the Crystal / Light Force and it’s preventing the Threader’s sickness from progressing. Since the Gelfling and Arathim have a shared goal of ending the Darkening, Four believes this could be a beneficial allyship. Four’s Threader is semi-cut-off from the hivemind due to the sickness so it’s safer, in theory, for Four to host it. However, the chain and Four are unsure of what will happen if/when the Threader is noticed by the Ascendancy - if Four would be fully mind controlled - how can they trust what is him vs what is the hive, etc. (if you’ve watched the Netflix series it’s similar to what’s going on with Tavra! I just don’t know what to do with the Skeksis yet.)

I’m throwing ideas at a wall and seeing what sticks BUUUUT that’s the idea at the moment!
