This is fanart for @sister-dear​​​​’s fic My Heart’s Forsaken Me. I love the fic so much! There are so many good scenes to choose from when it comes to drawing. However, I especially enjoyed the juxtaposition of this scene where Wars is trying to have a serious conversation with Sprite and Link and Four are just,, lighting fires in the background.

Kind of?! Mostly I wanted to draw something cool!

Four is threaded by a mind controlling spider critter called a Threader which is part of The Arathim Ascendancy hivemind. The Chain trust that Four has found an agreement with it and is still himself. However, at some point he would be called to the Ascendancy so that’s what I drew.

The Ascendancy and Gelfling have a history of war and destroying each other’s nests and villages. However, for this AU, both are suffering from the Darkening. It is a blight slowly killing the land and infected creatures are going mad. The Chain are seeking the source of and a way to end the Darkening.

For Four, a Darkening-sick Threader latched onto him and he took pity on it and has agreed to let it stay. As a Gelfling he has a stronger connection to the Crystal / Light Force and it’s preventing the Threader’s sickness from progressing. Since the Gelfling and Arathim have a shared goal of ending the Darkening, Four believes this could be a beneficial allyship. Four’s Threader is semi-cut-off from the hivemind due to the sickness so it’s safer, in theory, for Four to host it. However, the chain and Four are unsure of what will happen if/when the Threader is noticed by the Ascendancy - if Four would be fully mind controlled - how can they trust what is him vs what is the hive, etc. (if you’ve watched the Netflix series it’s similar to what’s going on with Tavra! I just don’t know what to do with the Skeksis yet.)

I’m throwing ideas at a wall and seeing what sticks BUUUUT that’s the idea at the moment!

srb posted last night and was then swamped by the oot news buggies on your dash! (really really excited about the oot remake actually iffy on the artstyle but I'm looking forward to seeing what's changed in the designs and world I wanna see Hyrule Field so bad!)

(the lines are from ~2023-2024) OH it just occurred to me maybe some people won't get the reference? this is riffing on the LU comic doodle where Wild and Four bicker over a tomato being a fruit vs vegetable + a reference to the Minish Cap manga where in Link's bio Akira Himekawa wrote that Link was too powerful and needed a weakness so that weakness will be he doesn't like green peppers it's funny to me Wild and Four both have food nitpicks to get at each other with lol conversely I think Four would really like monster extract food (because it's purple) and Wild can do that for him ALSO THE FIRST DRAWING OF FOUR CAME OUT LOOKING LIKE CHEATSY'S ART I know I know. Wild too that first one looks like someone else's artstyle it was not on purpose but I see it

I heavily referenced and color picked from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance comic vol #1 for the background and spitters. The tdc comics are all so beautiful. There’s a lot to learn!

Things are pretty miserable for Four but it’s not a threat on his life.

It’s been a while since I’ve watched AOR (and if you’re rewatching it rn then you know more than me! xD ) (I don’t remember if pain-sharing was a thing in the show, but if not I am adding it for angst woooo!) In this AU the Ascendancy is being infected by the Darkening and it’s causing the Arathim and subspecies to go mad and attack their own. To protect itself, the Ascendancy is sloughing off the infected Arathim from the hive mind. The abandoned Arathim are dying, it’s just a matter of what gets them first: the Darkening, or being severed from the hive.

linked universe lu legend lu hyrule lu au au Firefly Hyrule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love when they're bugs <3 <3 <3 I tweaked the designs just a little. I wanted to push Hyrule closer to the firefly insp for funs I hope that's alright! I wanted to reflect the segmented antennae and body parts especially! in the firefly photos I found some of the fireflies had a segment between their head and wings that was red with a black spot in the middle. so I swapped out the moss cloak for a woven grass capelet-thingy to represent that. the glowy parts on the pants being similar to the totk miner's armor set was a nice coincidence. I had a good time with this! Hyrule glows YAAAAAY!!!!! wrensage seeing you pick up my LU AU AU tag is really funny the tag is a joke for myself (and for organizational purposes) but if other people want to use it lol go for it Blue if you're reading this @ you too xD

ray responds asks the server has been around since 2019 and just celebrated its 7th birthday I've been in the server since 2020 and I've had a good time. would recommend! it's pretty quiet nowadays (well. compared to the covid lockdown era haha) but it's a good place to share art and find recs. oooh and there are weekly prompts and polls which are a good starting point if you need some inspiration. There's a lot of history on the server! (imo LU main is where the LU fandom took off. there's just so much there! it was such a hub of community and creativity during lockdown haha. I'm super grateful for how welcoming of a space it was and for the people and support and artists I was introduced to in that time.)) (one of these days I'll stream... one day...) OH! there are some server exclusive gifts from Jojo such as process work and Q&As. definitely recommend joining if just to check those out! A follow up to my blue ring comic! I got a comment from kobolddraws on it over on instagram and have been holding onto the idea of Blue Ring Four since.

The hair tucked behind an ear while blue is a must!

IT'S NEARLY EXACTLY 3 YEARS LATER sheesh!
