Inspector Lewis

I know you Brits have seen 'em all before, but the "new" episodes of "Inspector Lewis" are only just now coming on TV here in the USA.  And oh, I love Sgt. Hathaway(Again.)  I always loved Laurence Fox, and I was pleased to see him when the first episode came out in 2006, but now I'm seriously falling for Hathaway himself.  Tonight's episode was "Expiation."

Haha, Hathaway having trouble with contact lenses...
Lewis:  What's the matter with you?  You're crying!
Hathaway:  I always cry when I know I'm going to spend the day with you, sir.

I can has a Laurence Fox of my own, pls?

PS  I love Oxford too.

PPS  Eeek eeek!  William Houston is in it too!  MY Will, that I saw with the RSC as Prince Hal and Henry V!  Only... why does he never look as beautiful on screen as he did there, live, in person, on stage?  Oh WILL!!!

PPPS - The University Museum!  My old friend!!!

LOL - "I'm not smug, ma'am.  It's just the unfortunate shape of my face."

Oh Hathaway, I do love you.

PPPPS - Does anyone have any Laurence icons to share?  (Is that ok to ask?  I've asked before in some specific icon thread, but I don't think anyone ever responded.  WANT.)  Also, I remember y'all talking about things from Hathaway's past coming up, but I think now I've seen all the episodes, and I never got the big revelation I was expecting.  Was it just the episode that talked about his time in school?  NEVER MIND!  I realized that I haven't seen all the episodes after all, so don't give me any spoilers!

OBA Alert

Timothy Spall and his son Rafe are to appear in a new ITV1 adaptation of EM Forster’s A Room with a View.

The pair will appear together for the first time as father and son, with Timothy Spall playing Mr Emerson and Rafe playing George in an adaptation by Andrew Davies, who adapted Bleak House for the BBC. It is being made by IWC Media, part of the RDF Media Group.

The cast also includes Laurence Fox as Cecil Vyse, Sinead Cusack as Miss Lavish and Timothy West as Mr Eager.

ITV director of drama Laura Mackie said: "Andrew Davies’ adaptation, as ever, captures the spirit of Forster’s most memorable novel, but delivers it in a fresh, engaging way for a modern audience."

Treats

Hello! I am recommending the play Treats to everyone. It stars Laurence Fox, Kris Marshall, and Billie Piper. I was fortunate enough to preview it in Richmond earlier this week before it heads to the West End. Everyone's performances were quite good although there were some dry parts to the story. Regardless, I enjoyed it and meeting Laurence Fox after the play made my week!!! :D
[akt] a horse of course

Becoming Jane trailer

In case you haven't seen it yet. I wasn't sure about the movie, butI'm keen to see it now.
Becoming Jane is about Jane Austen's first love, which apparently inspired her subsequent novels. Slightly dubious history perhaps, but the movie looks charming enough. Plus James MacAvoy is fantastic (watch the trailer and see if you don't agree!). I may go and see the film just because of his performance.
angst!

Colditz (with Laurence Fox)

I just finished watching Colditz!  It was SO good!

Collapse )

Oh cool, I didn't even know until just now that James Fox was Laurence Fox's father.  Funny that they're in the same movie and never appear together.  But now I think I can see the family resemblance.  How silly of me not to have known.  (Understand, I'm still very new to Laurence Foxdom.)

Right, as I'm new around here, who can point me in the direction of more Laurence goodness?  Movie recommendations, screencaps, icons, etc?

ETA:  Oh noooooo!  I just read that Laurence Fox is dating Billie Piper!  Noooo, he's supposed to be dating ME!  *cries, pounds table with fists*  But no, be calm.  I must remember that he's too tall for me.  Too tall, Grace.  You need someone not quite so extremely tall.  That's right.  Calm.

*sniff*

Laurence Fox

Hello all!  I'm Grace and I'm new to this community, though I've visited many times before (being a lover of all sorts of obscure British actors and films).  But I decided to actually join tonight when I noticed that you all had Laurence Fox listed as one of your interests.

I'm watching Colditz at the moment (for the first time, so don't give me any spoilers!) and *sigh* Laurence Fox is just so lovely...  He makes me happy.

I've previously seen him in Island at War (ADORE!), Lewis (yay!  more episodes are coming!  It's the Inspector Morse spinoff-sequel), Marple, Jericho, Gosford Park (though I barely remember his part - must watch it again, now that I'm interested in him and shan't be distracted by all those other actors) and just recently Deathwatch.

Sigh.  That's all for now.

Oh, and since you like Sam West, I'll mention that I saw him play Hamlet with the Royal Shakespeare Company a couple of years ago!  He was good... but *blush* I've never been a Sam West fan, so it was kind of wasted on me (though I adore Hamlet.)  I wanted it to be Will Houston (who I'd fallen in love with the previous season as Prince Hal/Henry V.  Oh love...)

Oh, I also love Paul McGann and brother Mark McGann, for whom I have a wee community, mark_mcgann.  Sigh, obscurebritactorlove...
