I was excited to see the news that [community profile] yuletide is finally dropping FF.net from eligibility requirements this year. It looks like Dark Angel might be eligible again (as of last night, it was 68 stories below the 1000 complete 1000+ word stories in English threshold on AO3).

I am less excited that my ballot for the OTW election didn't arrive. It wasn't in spam either, so idk. I filled out the contact form for elections, but who knows if I will get a response in time to vote. I am not going to be home this weekend so I may have to chalk up that $10 as wasted. ETA: and they re-sent it and I've voted. Speedy!

So yes, I am going to see Friend L (as opposed to Baby Miss L or Assistant L) this weekend for a belated birthday dinner and pedicures and general hanging out. She's apartment-sitting in a very nice condo, so that will also be nice. I am excited as I haven't seen her since November of last year!

Whoa, it'd be amazing if DA were eligible again! I also wish there was some way to include fandoms that used to be more active, but have since faded. I don't even know how you'd quantify that, though.

Once or twice they did a "ten-year rule" thing where fandoms that were 10 years off the air or older were somehow eligible? And I know they allowed SportsNight in when the old archive disappeared and none of the fic was imported to Ao3. But yeah, if there were some way to do that that wasn't just # of stories - maybe it would have to be that but over a specific time period? Less than X stories posted to AO3 in the last five years? idk.

Wow, I had no idea that was even something they were thinking of. Is it only based on AO3 stats now then? I guess that makes it easier for them to figure out what's eligible or not. It could open up a bunch of old inactive fandoms, assuming they haven't been imported to AO3 with Open Doors or something.

I don't think any of us knew until the announced it last week! But it does make things easier for them and yes, I think some fandoms that were not eligible may become eligible now.
