(question submitted by firewhispers)My answer: Good manners, and the notions that truth matters, that people should be treated equally and fairly, that violence should be avoided if at all possible and that no one is above the law.

Date: 20 Jul 2018 09:06 (UTC)I confess, I find it very irritating when I try to step down from a train or bus but before I can people try to get in from the platform/street. very annoying. One of the rules I distinctly remember being told by my mum when I was a child was to let people get out first. These days, apparently that's a rule long forgotten.
As to be treated equally and fairly, I think we have, as a society, come actually a long way from the days when this wasn't the case. Still a lot of prejudice around which affects people but I think we are better now than we used to.
