Sooo I am super bad at updating! Life highlights:

Last week I started a job that's temp to permanent... so meaning long term and hopefully permanent before I'm booted off my parents insurance at the end of August. I'm a receptionist so not my dream job but steady work is steady work so I'll do my job and keep applying to other stuff as it comes open. I'm almost halfway to saving up for a car and once I have that I can start looking for jobs in other parts of my state.

I went to Japan December 29-January 4. It was stressful because lots of traveling while we traveled--we stayed in Tokyo for a couple days then went to Kyoto for NYE and also took a day trip to Osaka--but it was also awesome. I got to see a lot of cool things and eat a lot of good food. Would love to go back someday.

I watched all of Star Trek: Voyager and Kate Mulgrew is my hero. Would really love a Starfleet Academy show with her as Professor/Admiral Janeway.

Ermm and that's probably all the big stuff. lol yes Star Trek is part of "big stuff."

Also I've decided to go to New York City Comic Con this year w00t!

I can't believe how long it's been since I updated! Whoops.

Well nothing is really going on anyway. I'm much more active on twitter if there's anyone reading this who isn't following me! Same username. It's a protected account so I can say what I want and so that if someone I don't want finds it who knows me IRL they don't get to read me uncensored. I also have my "professional" one that's attached to my real identity. Both are pretty much about video games, comic books, and feminism though haha.

My three days of intensive editing are over just in time for a weekend up north -- yay! It's not the editing that was stressful it was definitely the pushed up deadline. I hate not have a day or two to just leave something alone and then to come back with a fresh perspective.

Anywho... silly meme time! I started filling this out to take a little break from editing the other night but then I noticed the inconsistent capitalization and started editing it. o_o

Technically I'm supposed to show you the meme and tell you to give me a fandom and then I'll fill it out but I've already filled out ones for Harry Potter, Star Trek, and Gundam Wing. In other news I submitted my JET application! Woohoo. Not much else new to report. Looking forward to spending time with my family on Thanksgiving and am reading some good fic at the moment. :]

Edit: Does anyone know of any character memes out there? I'd love to do a 30 day character meme. Talking about ships was fun but I'd love to give some character appreciation too since a lot of my fav characters don't factor into ships (at least not ones I read on a regular basis).

Okay, first. I did make bacon chocolate cupcakes all those weeks ago! I only put bacon on top. They were tasty but not as OMGAMAZING as I thought they would be.

So now I will start yet another 30-day meme and see if I can finish this one. I will warn in advance that I'm going to allow myself to update this randomly (and play catch up in most cases) since with the last one it was hard to count down the month like this. :p

Day 01 - What is your current favourite ship

This is tough 'cause at any given time I'm usually really excited about a particular ship in a particular fandom (while still dabbling in other things of course). I haven't felt the pull of obsession for anything since I read The Princess of Gryffindor, which is a really excellent dark fic revolving around SSHG and has a lot of strategizing going on that made me excited.

As of last night I was in the mood for Sarek/Amanda from Star Trek. For me they're probably the most interesting TOS/AOS canon couple because there is a lot of wiggle room in fic to come up with how they got together and made things work. Last night I reread igrockspocks well done Logic Demands That You Take Off That Ridiculous Hat...

While I'm at it I think I'll also do day 2:
Day 02 - What was your very first ship?

This question is tough because I've always been a bit ofa hopeless romantic. I've buried it more and more under a surface of sarcasm over the years but that part of me definitely still exists. So, I'm pretty sure I shipped whatever the canon couple was in anything I watched as a child.

My first OTP was probably Misty/Ash or Batman/Catwoman when I was in middle school. Batman/Catwoman sounds way better though so I'm going to go with them.

This meme may be a bit tame 'cause I've stuck with the same couple of ships pretty consistently in terms of level of attachment. I will try to mention some of the more obscure things I've read/watched/etc.

Brittany and I watched the first episode of Deep Space 9 today and it is such a crappy first episode for a series. There is all this plot and unnecessary confusing-ness. I couldn't get into it and I was so happy when it was over. I'm still going to watch more and am looking forward to it but yeah... this episode was just too dense.

Edit: LJ somehow randomly set my journal settings to only show 10 entries instead of 20. Umm... I've had it set to 20 since the first day I had this thing. So weird.

Had yummy BBQ with Ainsley today. Talked about some entertaining things and watched lots of Sex and the City. :D Good times. My productivity level is so freakin' low. But! I swear I will get stuff done tonight. Probably. More than likely.

Going to have a Star Trek marathon with Brittany tomorrow. Almost have every episode of every Star Trek series ever on my hard drive (though not TOS since I can watch that on youtube...).

And beer rhetoric will be going to my former place of employment to see the Lugnuts play.

I really, really hate questions like this. I have many favourite movies that span pretty much every genre there is.

Movie genre that barely has to try to keep you content: Superhero movies or anything involving people with powers (as if you people didn't know that already)! I enjoyed Hancock (while seeing the flaws, yes), 'nuff said.
Movie you've watched most often in this past year: Star Trek
Most recent movie you watched + whether or not you liked it: Watched Choke with Steph finally today! We read the book (Chuck Palahniuk!) and even though the ending of the movie is changed a bit I really enjoyed the movie and was a little surprised at how much stuff they left in. I think they handled the material really well. :)

Aaaand... that's it for today. I was hoping to do some awesome post with pics and such but I left this until 15 min. before day three starts so... this is the entry. Ha.

Going to see a movie tomorrow with Emily B. Oooh and I got to have sushi today for the first time in a long time. :D

Edit: Forgot to mention the epic nerdiness that was beer rhetoric last night. We talked about superhero movies and comics several times and I broke up a drunken (very rambly) argument about Batman vs. Superman by shoving my phone (it was playing the original Batman theme song) into the middle of it. It was hilarious and awesome. I played euchre with some people and there was a moment where I said something really really silly (and dorky and a little stupid) and then my friends just took what I was saying and turned it into something even more hilarious. I love my people. LOVE. We are all going to a Lugnuts baseball game next Thursday... haven't been to a game in forever (not since years before I worked there).

So I have a job. I don't get paid much but I am now an editorial assistant for a small literary journal. The cool thing is I get to do a lot of different kinds of editing (from simple copyediting to the more important developmental editing) and I get to work from home. Although working from home is working against me right now. And the abundance of friend time I've had this week.

The other awesome thing is it just got picked up by a publisher in the UK for this issue (will be published in November) so my name will be listed as editorial assistant in an internationally published journal.

So I have decided to start doing this 30 day meme because it looks like fun and it will keep me updating. Here is day one~

Day 01 - "Favourite Song"

I love music and I have many favourite songs... So I will post my current favourite song for your enjoyment.



I'm not really a Dixie Chicks fan but I heard this song in an episode of True Blood and I knew I had to have it. It is absolutely beautiful from the lyrics to the music. Parts of the song always bring certain images to my mind: hanging freshly laundered sheets out to dry outside and living in a cottage in the middle of no where... then crawling into bed later with those fresh sheets smelling unbelievably good. Mmm. Peaceful, simple, beautiful, comforting.

In other nerd news I beat Portal -- which is a hilarious and awesome game! I really want to buy my own weighted companion cube now.

Oh, and I saw Iron Man 2 Friday and it was good and I got recced an amazing Iron Man fic and so now I've been reading some Iron Man fic... Heh. I blame Robert Downey Jr's sexiness.

I'm not sick of gifs yet so you get another gif... I walked today!



I had a rough start to my day... I only got about a half hour of sleep and I started my period. My mom also yelled at me about how it would be weird for me to wear pants. Buuuut... it was 40 fricken degrees out. If it had been nice I would've worn a dress. W/e, I wore pants. I'm a rebel. Some other girls were wearing pants too and I had several girls go, "Damn, I really wanted to wear pants I wish I would have."

Ceremony went faster than I expected... walked across the stage... I hugged everyone after the ceremony when we found each other in the lobby and my grandma was all teary, so was my dad. Yesterday I talked to my dad on the phone and he told me he's been crying all week and reminiscing about when I was just a baby. It was really sweet; I love my daddy so much.

The wind stole my tassel when we got outside (the only thing I wanted to keep... but I'll be buying another one) and it was madness so I didn't really get to hug anyone goodbye or take pictures with my people.

Went out to lunch with my grandma, grandpa, mom, step mom, and daddy. It was nice even though I was a sleepy child.

And I came home and slept~ Now I'm watching True Blood (on the second episode! woohoo!). Ate hummus for dinner... Delicious~ And yep.

More updates on life after graduation and the job hunt coming soon!

To be honest I'm excited to be able to play video games again guilt-free. Well, not totally guilt-free. Despite being done with school I have a few things left to work on. And I'll have more work to do soon, hopefully.

Where did these last four years go?

In any case I'm looking forward to a summer of Star Trek marathons with Brittany and beer rhetoric with some absolutely amazing people. :) Not to mention the blog I should be starting with Ainsley soon.

And I need to continue my comic! Can't give up on it.
