I miss livejournal/dreamwidth journal format social media so damn much.
Hello from the 2020 pandemic. I’ve been working from home since March and will be till this is past. Living alone is usually lovely but it is less so now. Loving kitties named after Dragon Age characters help immensely.
I have a lot of goals for the future. Move up in my career, buy a home, get in better shape. I’m pretty well on track. Fingers crossed.
I got into The Witcher and The Expanse this year. Was late on The Witcher. The music made me fall in love and the fact that it’s basically a big mythology story. The Expanse is intense but interesting.
Played Animal Crossing in the early pandemic and scared to go back.

Life is decent I have a two bedroom apartment on a lake to myself, two beautiful cats named Isabela and Aveline, and I started a great job at my alma mater in January.
I haven’t been on any social media lately. I am waiting for whatever is next after tumblr.
I miss livejournal/DW so much. I have not kept up with it at all because I have been way too active on tumblr and on my fannish twitter. But LJ/DW still has the superior format (just, you know, terrible overlords on LJs end).
Anyway!
Let's see... In real life news got a car finally, got a permanent job--not in my field but it pays the bills and it's a really cool office. Dress is casual, there's a game room where I can play Wii U at lunch and lots of other perks.
In fannish news saw Avengers yesterday and enjoyed it for the most part except for the Nat storyline (urgh).
Annnd that's it for my quick update. I'm mistaria over on tumblr too. The thing I hate about tumblr is it can be harder to follow friends because if someone posts so much you can't keep up or if they mostly post stuff you don't care about... Sigh. Fucking tumblr.
I was going to do a meme but all my answers were really boring so I deleted it. I'm at work and shouldn't be on but I realized I hadn't checked LJ in way too long and wanted to check up on it.
So I should be getting hired full time at the place I'm temping at now either as a receptionist or tech writer, which is completely awesome. The other place I worked jerked me around and it ended badly. Ugh. Back in August.
Dragon Age came out Nov 18th and it's awesome. I basically go to work and then go home and play DA then go to bed. :p I started my second playthrough Monday.
I have also been rewatching Gilmore Girls--so much love. Brittany got super into it and is watching it all for the first time and it makes me happy we have another thing to share.
Also I've been enjoying making more money and the promise of getting made permanent and have totally splurged on holiday presents for my friends and family. It makes me happy.
Lazarus and A Voice in the Dark are still my fav comics right now.
And NYCC was awesome! I got to go to the con, the Natural History Museum (plus the planetarium there that's run by Neil DeGrasse Tyson), the 9/11 memorial, the Intrepid museum where I got to see Enterprise! And I had some tasty food. I probably won't go back to NYCC any time soon because of the b/s I went through to get tickets and there were some elements about it that were pretty meh.
Also I saw Lucy Lawless from afar at NYCC (her autographs were $85! I don't even care about autographs either I'd rather get a pic) and she is so gorgeous in person. /girlcrush
And I met Adam Hughes who is my fav Selina Kyle artist and I told him so and thanked him for the respectful way he draws women (since he always manages to make them gorgeous without being gross) and he was thrilled to hear I liked his work and got into a long discussion with me about the way he draws women--it was AWESOME. I still need to hang the sketch he made me plus one of my Catwoman comics he signed and gave an art correction to. :]
Last week I started a job that's temp to permanent... so meaning long term and hopefully permanent before I'm booted off my parents insurance at the end of August. I'm a receptionist so not my dream job but steady work is steady work so I'll do my job and keep applying to other stuff as it comes open. I'm almost halfway to saving up for a car and once I have that I can start looking for jobs in other parts of my state.
I went to Japan December 29-January 4. It was stressful because lots of traveling while we traveled--we stayed in Tokyo for a couple days then went to Kyoto for NYE and also took a day trip to Osaka--but it was also awesome. I got to see a lot of cool things and eat a lot of good food. Would love to go back someday.
I watched all of Star Trek: Voyager and Kate Mulgrew is my hero. Would really love a Starfleet Academy show with her as Professor/Admiral Janeway.
Ermm and that's probably all the big stuff. lol yes Star Trek is part of "big stuff."
Also I've decided to go to New York City Comic Con this year w00t!

Piper is my favourite character in Charmed. She starts out hating her powers and being pretty shy and awkward but as the show goes on she embraces her powers because of the good she can do with them and becomes this badass maternal figure who holds her family together. She's also delightfully snarky. Just a fantastic character all around. Most of my favourite moments from the series are with her. This show also makes me desperately wish I had sisters like Piper does (I'm an only child).
Pepper Potts (does this one get bonus points?) "I was having 12% of a moment."
Pepper is one of my favourite parts about the Iron Man movies; she's fierce and takes charge, she can handle Tony and doesn't put up with his b/s, and she has realistic reactions to stuff--I've heard some people complain about her "freak outs" but come on... she proves that she's a capable woman again and again and she's not allowed to act afraid when there's something/someone trying to kill her? I love all her banter with Tony and I am a total Pepperony shipper.

Seriously the quote explains it all. I love Peeta so much and always shipped Peeta/Katniss. Generally I hate love triangles but I couldn't really blame Katniss for being torn given everything that's forced on her. Peeta is seriously what I would want in a man: he's sweet, steady, and loves unconditionally.
Milliardo Peacecraft -- aka Zechs Merquise, which is a way better name "It seems a man who can't get used to peace can still make himself useful."
I love every character in Gundam Wing but Zechs was always a particular favourite. He's a broody asshole and I can't help but love him. Him/Lucrezia Noin are one of my major OTPs. He gets lost and does some dumb shit at the end of the series but he still finds his way back to her.

It's probably sad how many of these responses involve me talking about ships. But I really like Ivy best when she's with Harley. I don't ship Joker/Harley at all (shhh don't tell my friends who love them) but I definitely ship Harley/Ivy. Anytime they team up it ends up being hilarious and awesome.
I also view Ivy as more lesbian than anything because I think she views men as something to be used/manipulated so I can't see her ever entering into a real relationship with a man. My BFF and I actually had a conversation once about how we see Joker as more asexual than anything (unless he can use sexuality as a way to get a laugh) so the only way Harley's gettin' any is from Ivy.
What I really love about Ivy, and many Batman villains in general, is that her motivations are good ones but taken to the extreme. Like she wants the environment/plant-life to be protected, which is an admirable goal. Just... y'know... She gets transformed into this hybrid plant-woman and stops caring about human life in the process.
In light of my last post I must first say apparently Selina/Catwoman is not dead. Or the most recent issue of JLA shows there's "more than meets the eye" going on. Either way no regrets on my reaction.
Life is life. Signed up with a temp agency that's actually getting me work and still applying to other stuff. Fingers crossed y'all. Fingers fucking crossed.
The Heat is FANTASTIC! Everyone go see this if you have even a slight interest in a Sandra B/Melissa M buddy cop movie. I've loved the idea since I first heard it was happening and the movie did not disappoint. Also it's currently doing better than that white washed piece of shit Lone Ranger. Don't even get me started. I've had days recently where, as I've told Brittany, I've been so mad at the white penises I've had to try to step back from reading about anymore of the inequality happening... y'know... everywhere.
Also Despicable Me 2 is adorable. I really would love to see a sequel with the girls as adults having their own adventure (with Gru showing up to be proud papa).
DC Comics: Justice League of America: whatever the fuck volume came out this month.
