mmm

Hi

I see this community isn't very active, but I had a question about my Maine Coon.

Photobucket

I've been trying to get ideas about what to do about his pooping. Ever since he was a kitten, he poops on the floor in front of the litter box. Always in front of the litter box. He never pee's, only poops. I've tried everything. I've scrubbed the box, I've scrubbed the carpet, I've changed litters, I've tried to punish him, I just don't know what to do about him.

I've been reading around and seen that some breeds of cats just do this. Has anybody heard of this happening with M. Coons? Does anybody have any ideas??

This is Stacey

Glamour puss

I got Stacey last December after my 20-year-old cat Buddy-boy died. Stacey had been on the euth list at a city shelter when my friend Patty pulled her; I totally fell for her and took her home on Christmas day of 2006.

She weighed about 7 pounds--emaciated for a Maine coon, especially when her records show her as having weighed 12 pounds just a few months before. She was so shell-shocked she wouldn't eat anything for a couple of days. She's a totally great cat, though, and doesn't take any crap from dogs--even Jerry, the springer spaniel I brought home in February (who thinks he owns the house.)
OH SNAP!!

Hi, I'm new, I also came to gush about my maine coon.

His name is Chester and he's a full blooded Maine Coon. He'll be turning 5 this march. He does all sorts of funky things that I haven't seen cats do before, like chirps and drools. He's now full grown at 26 lbs.

the pip squeek next to him is Sir Chadwick, also maine coon, and he's 1.

Hi everyone my name is Heather. In January I adoped a Maine Coon mix from petsmart. His name is Pippin (for the Hobbit of course) and it totally fits his personality. I have a question It's been getting really hot here in the mid to upper 90's and Pip likes to come out on the balcony with me while I read, I'm worried with all his fluff that he might get overheated. So is the long hair an insulator like it is for some dogs, or should I keep him inside when it's this hot?

EDIT: This transport has been cancelled.  Click on the link for more information.  Thank you!

 Hello,

I'm posting here because we're looking for help with a rescue concerning your breed.  Below can be found the details for a cat that needs your help desperately to get to the safety of rescue.  Without the aide of volunteer drivers, this cannot be possible.  Please at least take a look; he has a place to go and someone to care for him, he just needs help getting there.  Thank you.

Ozzie is a two year old Maine Coon cat.  He is a very sweet cat that was dumped at a shelter and has been taken in by a temporary foster until transport could be arranged to rescue.  That was almost a month ago.  This will be Bart's third attempt to make it all the way to rescue.  Now traveling through Utah.

Details here (feel free to comment with any questions you might have either here or there):

In light of the recent switch to a livejournal without new account codes, I have created this journal to gush about my maine coon/siamese cross, Emily. The Maine Coon is just such a neat breed, and I thought it'd be nice to have a community dedicated to the little buggers.

Two rules: Be respectful and have fun!

Ciao
