Beautiful Weekend

It was a decent weekend! How was yours?

The weather was AWESOME! I couldnt' ask for better weather for the weekend. I was stuck inside for a lot of Saturday getting the house clean. I am trying to declutter the kitchen to get ready for the new cabinets, but that turned out to be a much bigger project than originally planned. Still it needed to be done. It feels so good to get stuff organized. It's going to feel even better to have a functional kitchen, with enough counter space to cook a meal without balancing dishes and cutting boards on the edges of the sink.

Saturday night, I hung out with some of my Mom friends at Julie's house. Julie lives on a ridgetop, with the most awesome scenery behind her house. We sat and talked and watched the sun go down, and it was such a great way to spend an evening. We really need to get together more often. Every time we all get together, it's like therapy. Except, I think I get more benefit from talking to them than I do from therapy. (That's not to say I don't like my therapist... she's awesome, but true friends can sometimes hone in on things that a therapist wouldn't even know about.) We had a blast. My sides still hurt from laughing.

Sunday, we had a housefull of kids. Tracey (one of the Mommies) is repainting her gorgeous 100+ year old Victorian house so I kept her two oldest kids for a few hours. Her oldest and Isaac are pretty tight so they really had a blast playing all day. The weather was gorgeous so the kids stayed outside all day long, only coming to the porch when the hot dogs were ready. Jonathan was large and in charge -- running all over the yard with the big kids, and they were good to play with him, too.

Mike finally got the problem with the Mustang fixed (it was the alternator) and took it out for a spin on Sunday. I'm glad he has it in top condition again. Hopefully, he'll be ready to race this summer. I would really like to see him actually race it, instead of just banging around on it in the basement and getting frustrated because it just sits there. :) I'm sure he would rather race than turn wrenches, too.

No major plans for today. The kids are all working on long-term assignments and it's actually kind of boring right now. The mural in Alissa's room is coming along really well, though. I need to post a picture!
