Surprise!

No school tomorrow!!!!

Thank you, Boys' Basketball Team!!!

Because the game is at 9:30 AM and it would be a logistical nightmare to send the kids to the game and expect them back for the rest of a school day, they're just giving us the day off. Sweet!!! Of course, it makes sense -- we're in school a full 10 days longer than the public school system, so the principal gives us a break whenever she can. It's nice to get these little surprises once in a while.

Unfortunately, there's a downside to this -- grades are due on Monday for the 3rd 9 weeks, and we hadn't anticipated having tomorrow off, so some of us aren't going to get that last day of the term to have a test or take a grade. My students aren't going to finish their projects but I think I can grade them based on what I anticipate they would look like with one more day of work. Normally, I wouldn't do that but these kids were really needing this project to go on this term's grade. Whaddyagonnado? I guess if a kid really works hard over the weekend and does more work than I had anticipated, I can readjust the grade on Monday.

Mike and Isaac are off to Cincinnati on Sunday. Mike's getting a new dirtbike for the kids. Joseph will take Isaac's mini, and Isaac is moving up to a bike with a clutch. The plus side is that Mike's friend Rodney owns his own motorcross track, so the boys have a place to ride that is closed off to traffic, free of rocks and roots, and we can use it whenever there's not a race going on. The downside is... well... it's a dirtbike. And you know how I feel about those things.

The upshot is that I might get a canoe. Yay. :) Me + a calm lake + canoe + solitude = happy times.

Oh, well. For a day off, who cares? Now, if the sun would just come out again, it would be a perfect weekend.
