Due to this movie being passionately loved by many people I love, I went into this with some expectations. Namely, I expected this movie to be good. It was not good. However, it was great. You know how it is. It made me nostalgic for all the hacker friends I had as a kid in the 90s, who I'm sure thought this movie was beyond hilarious. Every time Fisher Stevens was on screen I wanted to bully him into paste. Exquisitely stupid. I will watch it again.
Good lord did the satire of this go over my blessed little head when I saw this in the theater at age 15. Watching it again as an adult I do check out when the soundtrack becomes mostly machine guns, but I gotta appreciate how good the bugs look even almost 30 years later.
Elizabeth Berkley's dancing in this is one of the most viscerally threatening things ever put to film. A movie that set records in the number of times I said "what??" Gina Gershon the only person who understood what movie she was in. I drank an inadvisable amount of wine for a Monday watching this. Awful movie. So much fun.
