"Loneliness has followed me my whole life, everywhere. In bars, in cars, sidewalks, stores, everywhere. There's no escape. I'm God's lonely man."

My comfort movie.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver (1976). Family and friends looked at me like I was crazy for telling them that I couldn't hang out or make plans because I wanted to stay home and watch this film. And I committed, dammit! 😭

Sweaty men, wet trucks, unstable explosives. Everything I didn't know I needed in a film.

I think I had at least 3 moments of panic while watching this one.

"This shit is ridiculous. I mean, why Thriller over here ain't trying to eat us?"
"He's a vegetarian."

Watching bad zombie movies is my guilty pleasure. But I actually kind of enjoyed this one. It was corny, sure, but kinda fun?
Plus, a vegetarian zombie!? Dunno why they went with that but hell yeah. None of the characters were likable though.

And Nick Cannon being in this was not on the bingo card. 😭

"She's obsessed with me!"

Excellent. Proof that studios do not need a large budget to make a decent film. The lighting techniques really set the tone too, especially in the scarier scenes.

Obsession definitely exceeded my expectations - the leads' performances were impressive, the humor didn't feel forced, and it was SUCH a fun watch. Super intense at times too.

Also, the guy in the shop killed me with his nonchalance. He was hilarious. 😂

I can't wait to watch this again. What a great movie. 👏

"You have to have men who are moral, and at the same time who are able to utilize their primortal instincts to kill without judgement... without judgement. Because it's judgement that defeats us."

Finally got around to rewatching this and it's just brilliant. Colonel Kurtz was an incredibly complex character and Marlon Brando knocked it out of the park in every scene he was in.

The French plantation scene wasn't really necessary but it didn't take too much away from…
