Brown has never been this menacing—the film needed way more of him. A shockingly violent, emotionally charged revenge tale with flashes of greatness, but the weak editing, unconvincing fight choreography and a rushed ending keep it from fully landing. Feels like a movie constantly brushing up against something incredible without ever quite getting there.
The Bride! Feels like 3 movies stitched together—some of it brilliant, some of it a total mess. It’s gorgeous to look at and it’s got another unreal Buckley performance, but by the end it disappears up its own ass with way too many ideas.
Pillion is graphic, brutally honest and quietly devastating. Skarsgaard has genuinely never looked better, even when the film drags you through something uncomfortable and difficult to watch. It’s occasionally beautiful, mostly depressing and far more thought-provoking than I was anticipating.
Trashy soap opera-esque limited series. But goddamn was it a binge worthy, addicting and a downright fun whodunit.
Somehow Gunn has managed to do it and not only outdo the extreme superhero fatigue we’ve all been feeling, but create a phenomenal (and visually stunning) start in this “course corrected” DCU. This is the Superman we needed and he is BACK like never before.
