So if you HAPPENED to be on my page in the last hour or so, you may have noticed that it looked pretty chaotic, if you HAPPENED to refresh it multiple times you might have noticed that it was gradually reconstructing itself. Well now it's all finished. I was working on reclaiming another of my favorite layouts. Spring Argyle and now it's perfect again.
These have been a little bit of a struggle for me because LJ apparently eliminated the Bloggish theme on which I based tons of my layouts. Also PhotoFuckit said it was done existing for it's intended purpose, so I transferred all my images to Imgur and had to go through the CSS and fix every single graphic link, some of which I had not properly labeled in my code so I had to guess and try different ones until I had the right thing. I have a bunch of images that were IN my folder for this layout but which were NOT in the actual layout. So I guess I'll remove them to save myself confusion another 20 years in the future. lol
Also, I've already grown a small 3rd boob under my arm from my jab. Took a couple of days to grow it last time. Just thought you'd like to know. lol
I changed my layout back to Winter Snow so my flashy holiday theme will no longer assault your eyes this year. Just my falling snow animation. lol (I feel like someone didn't like that at some point, but I do and I put a fair amount of work into it before I really knew how to make an animated gif from scratch.)
I know not everyone is that excited about my old Yule Theme "The Holly and the Ivy" but I just spent nearly 4 hours repairing it, so I'm very excited about it. (Actually I spent about an hour and a half on this, and the rest of the time trying to figure out why I can't get my Winter Snow theme saved correctly in My Styles. I guess LiveJournal has killed the S2 Bloggish (Unstyled) Theme and I'm rolling old school. It was the best one to work with, and all the rest of them sucked by comparison and still suck from what I can tell.
My last little piece of joy was correcting a single character in a link which put my blinking Yule lights across the top of my container. They make me happy. lol.
I have a big day tomorrow for my day off. I'm picking my mom up so we can go meet the family lawyer over at my brother's house to assess whether it will be worthwhile to at least finish some work he seemed to be doing (he had taken the door and skirting board trim off in some of his rooms and had painted, but hadn't replaced the trim.) or if it would be better to just sell it as is. I'm voting for doing that small amount of work as it would probably only take an afternoon or two to tack new baseboards on, and if they are not in his garage it won't cost much to buy new ones to match the rest of the house. It looked like he had taken up the carpet and was planning to refinish the hardwood floor his office when he finished painting, which is why he probably had the trim off in the first place. If it were my choice, I'd also just go ahead and finish that too. Just that little bit of work wouldn't cost much even if we did hire someone to do it, and it's mostly work my daughter and I can handle having done it before in our old house. It would raise the value of his little house, so I think that would be worthwhile not just because WE would get more out of it, but also would probably reduce the likelyhood of his wonderful nice neighbors ending up with a crappy neighbor ending up in his house.
I'm just stopping by here. Honestly, I feel like hardly any of my friends are using livejournal any more. Photobucket totally destroyed all my beautiful themes that I worked so hard on. It's been so long that I don't really remember how to make them again and I don't want to waste time making new ones... or learning how to adapt my old ones... OR taking the time to find a new place to serve the images from. So I'm back to boring default layouts. At some point I did apparently move my cute little cloud mood icons over to LiveJournal Proper.
So I'd love if anyone is still here, to get a comment so I know you're still around. I know there seemed to be a mass migration to a basically duplicated service, but I don't remember what it was called, and since I haven't been LiveJournaling with any regularity, I don't know if it's still that active either. FxcxBook has pretty much ruined everything. I hate it so much, but but that's how I stay in touch with family and friends so....
Since I've been writing again, having finally figured out WHY I haven't been writing, I've made some changes to my setup. No longer using my office for writing. It's not comfortable. It's fine for stuff I need an office for, but I needed my swing arm and couch setup back. So I've been writing a lot more recently. Chasing the Trail FMA fanfiction has two new chapters and a third underway. I've been working on Gaia's Song some too.
October this year was extremely unkind to me, so I'm still in recovery from that. The stress got me pretty sick for a while, but Docs and meds seem to have me on the right track for recovery from that, and my stress level has started to decrease now that I'm starting to feel better physically. It kind of sucks when you're sick because you're so stressed out but being sick is the thing that has put you over the top of your stress tolerance.
Anyway, I'll leave it there. Give me a shout out and i'll try to check back and see how things are going.
PS if you have a photo sharing site you use to serve pictures, let me know what you're using and I'll check it out. I told Photobucket to kiss my ass. I took everything off of it and uploaded one 'artwork' that basically said "Goodbye Photobucket! You suck now" lol
Oh and WOAH! Photobucket... what the hell has happened to you... All my cute little handmade mood icons have turned into this giant "BUY MY SUPER EXPENSIVE $$$$400 A YEAR PACKAGE IF YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO HOTLINK YOUR PHOTOS TO LIVEJOURNAL OR ANYTHING!!!$$$"
Seriously? WTF... Anyone using custom mood icons? Where are you hosting them now? I've been gone too long... This ugliness needs to go away quickly.
I had forgotten that I finally designed an Autumn layout that I actually liked. So I thought I ought to change it before it's winter. I don't think I changed my Spring layout to Summer until it was almost Autumn. I haven't designed a layout in forever and ever. Seems like at least a couple of years. I just don't spend as much time online as I used to, and much of my online activity is done on my smartphone.
I'm guessing my posts must be made of utter and complete boredom the last couple of times. Either that or I need to get a few more friends. So many people on my friends list are gone, or inactive or deleted. Lol Talk to me people. Let's have a conversation about something.
The Holly Green, The Ivy Green, The prettiest picture you've ever seen. It's Christmas in Kilarney, And all of the folx at home!
(my favorite version here, performed by the Irish Rovers)
PS: Yes I know this is early but I was trying to find my Autumn layout, and it apparently no longer exists? (WTF?) so I put on my The Holly and the Ivy one for now since tomorrow is official putting up the Yule Tree day, and the landlord finished correcting our light switch to outlet connection just in time after nagging him for two years about it! hahaha!
Ok... So that green bubblegum layout I found was really cute for a minute. I first looked for something like it because I had accidentally overwritten my wonderful Spring Argyle layout from last year when I was working on a new layout for queenofhearts. (which came out really cool, go look at it and tell her to start writing again.)
However, I kind of got tired of it. It had elements that I DON'T use, and didn't have some that I do use. So I opened up the style sheet for my Argyle spread, and fixed it. And it took some doing too, because there were some things that did not want to align properly any more for instance, I had to tell the beta column to be in an absolute position, other wise it would drop below the alpha whenever the window got narrow enough that 75% of the width was more than the whole width minus the 275 pixels that are the minimum width of the alpha column. (this is because the calendar background will go wonky if the alpha column doesn't stay the same width all the time btw).
So thankfully it's back as it should be, and you'll get to look at my wonderful pastel pink, green and yellow argyle background with all the lovely colors of spring flowers and stuff. Sorry for those of you who can't get past your anger with pink and recognize it for the perfectly valid color that it is. Just focus on the nice green and yellow that is actually more prevalent than the pink bits you are focusing on! hahahah!
I even updated my old argyle default icon to make a no frame version.
As such, I have updated my layout. I don't know if I'll keep this or not. We'll see. This was made out of a template I found online and seemed like fun, but it does have quite a few elements that I don't really use. So we'll see how that goes.
A new Animated Mood Theme. I can't believe nobody ever made a cute heart mood theme. A couple of these were a real pita. Sleepy had some kind of weird artifact in frame 5 that kept showing up even after I saved it multiple times, even after I remade it from scratch. UNTIL I saved it in a different folder and then once I'd established the artifact was gone, I moved it to the right one. Gee... Thanks Windows. Because obviously if I save some changes I don't want them, right?
As with the Cloud one, some of these repeat, so I'll only post the ones that are different from each other. My favorite in this one is Exanimate. Full is fun too. Least favorite? Probably Hungry and Thirsty. They were supposed to look like they were concave because of hunger or thirst and I don't know if that's how it comes across or not. I was never quite satisfied with the light effect.
Obviously these are designed to work best on a light background. I wish animated gifs could have a partial transparency or that they'd come up with a new standard for animated graphics that would be like the difference between a jpg and a png file. No such thing as an animated PNG that I know of. That would be grand. That would be ideal. I may work on these later to make them more compatible with all color backgrounds. For the moment though, it was a custom theme for a specific person with a specific layout and you're welcome to steal them if you like. caveat: please don't link them from my photobucket.
