I cooked. Lots. (And lots and lots and lots)

Today's activity was Multicooking.  Four hours of it. I'm really exhausted now. For those of you not in the know, multicooking is when I cook about 10 different dishes at once (or in one afternoon) and split it into individual servings to freeze so I can just grab what I want individually and stick it in the microwave.

My end result? I have in my freezer:

14 Spaghetti and Meat Sauce
11 Baked Spaghetti Squash
10 bowls of Chicken Soup (one vat)
7 Baked Sweet Potatoes
5 Steamed Carrots
4 Home Fries
4 Beef Stroganoff
4 Steamed Broccoli
4 Steamed Zucchini
2 Fried Eggplant

I will not have to cook my lunch for quite some time now. I am very tired.

House Showings

Honestly? I think that my realty company in intentionally scheduling showings for days that it is supposed to pour down rain. Seriously. Saturday it was supposed to pour down rain. It didn't. The propsect never showed. The one before that two showings while it was pouring down rain. The first one was fine. The second, the sump pump got stuck off and the well overflowed right before they got there. Today, I get two calls from Exit saying they have showings scheduled for tomorrow. One for 3 and one for 6. needless to say, it's been pouring down rain all day... supposed to rain all night, and also all day tomorrow.

I went out back and dug as much of the leaves and crap out of the back stairwell, because another thing that has been happening is that the drain gets clogged outside and then after a while, it starts to seep under the door where it runs across the floor into the basement floor drain. (This is an unfinished basement btw, so it's not a natural disaster, just annoying, and doesn't look good to the buyer. I can't find my auger, and don't know how to use it anyway (as demonstrated by my attempts when I bought it before I lost it.) I can't afford to have roto rooter root out my drain. They came out once when I had money and it was clear for a long time, but they never put a cover on it, so needless to say a lot of goop has gotten into that hole again in 5 years. I'm terrible about that kind of stuff. I just don't think of it until it's a problem again. Unfortunately, I was unable to clear the drain, because now that it's pouring down rain, I can't actually SEE it. I can't bail the water out of the incline as fast as it is raining in. So I can't even clear all the leaves and stuff because they're floating around in the water. I did dig a lot of sediment out of the drain, but since there's plenty more in the incline I imagine it will fill back up pretty quickly. This is frustrating, and If I find out that my realty company is working against their own agent by scheduling showings at times when it is most likely to show poorly, I'm going to be pissed.

I'm seriously about to fucking fire everyone, and list the house on Craigslist for the amount of the mortgage, buyer pays all costs, and takes on all repairs. Right now I can't even list it very competitively, because the closing costs will add about $5000 to the amount owed on the house. If I could list it for what I owe, it would sell even IF that back basement door leaks when it rains because I can't afford $75 or whatever to have Roto Rooter come out right now and auger it out and most of my friends are frankly just TO FUCKING LAME to come over and help me even when I ask desperately for someone to help me (like when the gutter fell down on my power line, and I begged for anyone to come nad help, and suddenly everyone I knew locally went dead silent for the entire week. My neighbor ended up helping me fix them. I wish I liked my house as much as I like my neighbors. I have very good neighbors, and if the people looking at the house would go over and talk to my different neighbors they would sell the house for me if they wanted a nice quiet neighborhood with good neighbors to raise their families in.

I really wish I had been able to buy my old house in West Carrollton. If I had known I could get financed for as much as I did, I would have bought it and stayed there. I loved that house, and still have dreams about finding it for sale and buying it. Now, I couldn't buy it for what I could have then.

Anyway. I'm going to go sulk in my living room now, having given up bailing out in the rain, having been soaked to the bone and made no progress at all. I have now had my hot bath and am drying out. So I'm going to watch All Quiet on the Western Front, which I'm ashamed to say I have never seen, even though it's a classic. I do promise though, that if it actually turns out to suck, I will rip that damn DVD right out of my player and put in Cars, which I am equally ashamed to admit not having seen, but which I have no doubt in the world will be amusing.

PS... after working out while the weather was nice for two weeks, it has now rained or been cold pretty much every day for two weeks, which means I have not been on my bike, haven't been eating right and though I was almost down to 140 again, now this morning I was at 152. *sigh* go me. I really love that spring means summer is coming, but seriously, I hate the rain. And I despise winter. I want the weather to break so I can get out and ride my bike. Couldn't we just have sunny and 70°+ at the same time? Even just NOT RAINING and 70° would be acceptable.

And now to end this depressing rant, I will add an upnote. I am instructed that there is a yarn shop in Yellow Springs now. I am broke until Friday, but I think since I have a house showing at 6:30, I will go and check it out after work tomorrow.

ETA: All Quiet on the Western Front Utterly failed to keep, or even GET my interest at all. I even gave it half an hour to be remotely believable or interesting. Ultimately I watched Cars which was infinitely more rewarding.

House Showing

Blargh! So... I'm thinking that this lady that looked at my house is not going to be making an offer. I just don't think so. They arrived almost an hour early, before I had vacuumed which I usually save for the very last last thing to do so it's super fresh. UGH... cheapcarnival's room was a disaster. I didn't get any of the crates put away in the guest room, which I am probably adopting for the winter (because it's warmer in there. Two crates of Yule stuff was still out because I'm not done with the tree, or getting things situated or anything. UGH AND UGH...

Now watch... this has to be the worst condition the house has ever shown in, and this lady will make an offer hahahha!

CRAP! CRAPCRAPCRAPCRAP CRAP!

Welp... my furnace is out.. isn't that great? It's just what I needed right now. Also, will wonders never cease... every possible receipt in the world is in my house book.. oh... all except for the quote from the furnace company on my new furnace that was installed in 2003... which I know has a 1 yr labor warranty, 5 year parts and 20 year heat exchanger.... The guy says he's sure it's a 20 year heat exchanger, but that usually parts are one year... so unless I can find that quote and receipt wherever it is besides where it BELONGS... I will have to pay for parts too... and I had my paycheck, and the rent my roommate paid me this week (finally) and that totals about $280. This better not cost me all of this. >_<

P.S. I really can't believe that I don't have a tag that says "crap". Now I do. Going to bed now.. will miss at least half a day of work for this one... AGAIN with the missing MONDAY.... >_< WTF WORLD!?

Going to go look for my receipt in the only other place it could possibly be... then bundle up and go to bed.

OH yah...

If anyone has any full sized flat sheets, or full sized comforters in decent shape, please feel free to chuck them my way.  Having perfected my bed making technique building a new one for marynachaotica, I am now going to make mine over so that it works as neatly.  That means no more tucking twin sheets around the edges. I need full sized with patterns that do NOT care if I turn it sideways.  I don't need the fitted sheets, but if you have them too, or pillow cases that match, why I'll be glad to take them. the fitted ones can always be made into extra matching pillow cases, or curtains.

I will take, but do not care for thread counts over about 300... they are too dense and it makes the fabric stiff and uncomfortable.  any lower than about 180 and it gets a little TOO threadbare haha.. but if you have something real dense and stiff and you want me to get rid of it for you, just chuck it my way anyway. Any will do as long as they are not too worn.  Thanks bye!

In other news:

Yes I had a nice trip.  Thanks for asking.  You know, I couldn't afford to really do anything... I just drove out and visited with my friends out in KC, and then on the way back stopped to visit friends in the City of E'ville for a couple of days too.  It was nice to get away.  Now I have to start taking serious steps to get things back in order here.  You may know that last year I put my house on the market. Well the agent I hired not only failed to sell it, she didn't show it herself a single time. I'm pretty sure all she did was list it on the MLS and Internet and just sit and wait for it to sell itself.  Well, anyway, I've decided that selling the house is really what I have got to do.  Since the accident put me out of work for so long, and then I went to about half what I was making, and all the stupid things that have happened to me since then job wise too,  it's been nothing but a struggle...

I had one roommate that I had to evict in December because he decided that he could quit one job after another, and then when he lost the last one that he could just skip paying the rent in order to have enough left out of his unemployment check (i.e. rather than get even a minimum wage job) to buy smokes and other unnecessary things.  I struggled through winter working two jobs and also doing home cleaning until I got my current roommate.  But he is moving out at the end of the week, and going to Columbus.  It's a good opportunity for him, so I don't begrudge him that, and he had said he was probably only going to be here until September.  I'm sick of having to have someone else in my house just to make ends meet.  My most recent one has been the best kind of roommate in that he is almost never home, since he's usually in Columbus or at his girlfriend's house.  But I can't make him stay hahaha.

So after a lot of thought, I decided again to sell the house.  I never intended to keep this house more than 3 or 4 years, I just wanted something simple to take care of for my first home until I was used to the idea that it was my house, but also my responsibility.  The reality has been that while I thought I was buying a newer home (built in 1971) with the expectation of having a home with modern construction techniques used, what I got was a little box with plaster and lath walls instead of modern drywall.  A basement full of spiders that I just can't stand, and I don't have a canister vacuum... I'm going to try to get one because the upright while it has a long stick of spider slaying it is very cumbersome to carry around.. and I need to go down there with that sucker and suck up ALL the spider webs and scary looking stuff down there.

I'm going to start Ebaying things I don't want that are valuable (such as my Franklin Mint Monopoly that has been in a closet since Lexi was big enough to start messing with it and I have not been able to enjoy it at all.. nor had a place to really put it anyway and I can sell probably for at least $100 even with some of the bills missing [Little Lexi fingers you know.] My Mountain bike [Have a perfectly good Road bike and that's what I ride, so... there's about $200 there] and then little crap I'll probably garage sale, then cheap cycle, then free cycle, then throw away. I have too much stuff again.  I got rid of SO much crap when I moved to Missouri.. and the last 6 years have packratted scads of it away.  I'm going to put a moratorium on gifts from my friends if they are just crap that sits around.  I like books, I like role-playing games for my Playstation, I like Manga and I like movie and Animé DVD's, and I like nice clothes hahaha.. I will actually use them, so my new rule is no more knickknacks.. I get so much knickknack stuff as gifts... and I hate to sell it or give it away because it's a gift you know, but geeze!  TOO MUCH STUFF.

Anyway, so today with the saleability of the house in mind, I went up to St Francis to see if I could find a sheet to so some work on my bed.  (you know my special roll up bed.)  I found a sheet that will work GREAT.  I also happened to find a pair of classy looking tie up curtains in a semi sheer sort of mauve colored fabric... they were only $6 so I picked them up too.  They look great with the matchstick blinds on the windows... just excellent.  I also found ... I guess it's probably alpaca wool... but it's kind of like an Indian blanket weave and it's mostly white with violety mauve designs.. guess what.. it matches the curtains perfectly... and it fits perfectly as a cover for my little blue couch. YAY to that.. so I've been rearranging my living room today to try to sort of get it looking more like it should. I'll have to roll up the green rug in there, because it doesn't match any more, but that can go in the guest room, and the sisal rug can go in there, since that will match the matchstick.  I'll take some pictures when it's done.

There now. just a little status update.  Oh, I applied at Teleperformance.  I can pick up the phone, greet people, listen to them complain and do my best to make them feel better for 10-12 an hour, and unlike apparently a lot of people, I won't quibble about their need for people to have a pretty open availability.  Who cares if they need me to be available 24-7?  It's not like they're going to ask me to work that!  That's my new plan.  Anyone want to try to countermand my choices?

House Rules

1) If you are the opposite sex from me, never EVER appear naked in front of me without MY express permission. PERIOD. I don't give a rats ASS if you are asleep. If you are naked the door is closed. It's common courtesy. Thanks. if it's 67° outside, I guarantee you I will NOT be running the air. That's what windows are for. (Be aware that if you were very very sick and it was not self inflicted, I might have some sympathy for some unexpected nudity. This was not the case.)

2) There is not to be drama in my home. If you live here, you can talk to me about problems plenty, and I will listen. I will NOT feed your issues, I will talk to you and help you deal with it. Do not call someone else who will create drama out of your problem either unless you fully plan to remain elsewhere the entire time, and leave the person helping you have drama outside my home.

3) Never ever touch my beers. (this has not been an issue since the previous roommate... I'm just stating what should be obvious and wasn't in the past.) I RARELY ever buy them and a 6 pack will often last me more than a week if I do have some. NO you can't have one. Don't even ask, and NEVER EVER take one without asking and inform me later "oh I grabbed one of your beers." (This also applies to my cooking wines, some are cheap, but some are very expensive. Having half a bottle of expensive sake disappear last year did not amuse me at all) Don't use them.

4) People who live here may be here any time they want. That doesn't mean that other people can automatically be here any time they want too. If I am going to have a house full of people, I'd like more than 3 minutes notice. Thanks.

5) NEVER EVER EVER leave glasses (or any other dishes) sitting on the counter unwashed. I cannot get my hand down inside a glass you have used to get the goo out of the bottom after you have left it sitting on the counter. ALL dishes used must be washed immediately. I realise that I have bent this rule some recently myself, but it's me that has to deal with it then... and I don't know what to do about these three glasses on the counter because my hand is NOT fitting inside them.

Thanks for listening. Sorry for bitching but GEEZE! Thanks so much for the eyeful.

And Now for Something Completly Mundane

Any of you lot who have heard about my bed but have never actually seen the situation of my room. Here are some pixies. strategic rugs cover a giant stain on the carpet where it appears an entire bottle of blue food dye was crushed and ground into the carpet. The green rug will go back into the living room, and be replaced by a light brown one I already have picked out This room is likely to continue being orange for about 2 more weeks if that. Depends on what Ace Handyman tells me about the advisability of painting the walls against the exterior while it is cold enough outside to make the walls feel significantly cooler than the interior walls. If that is the case, then very likely the interior walls will cease to be orange, and the exterior once will continue to be orange only until the weather breaks a bit.
