So today I dreamed that I got up and went to work... didn't go to my first job just got up and went straight to my firstsecond. Only, I didn't get dressed. I drove to work by a very roundabout route (since that work is only about six blocks from my house) and then a couple blocks down maple I realised I had nothing on but my longjohns.
So I went back to my house... which was a two room dorm... to get dressed. And my brother (who looked nothing like my brother) and Audey Thompson (a character I created for an RP) were still in bed. Audey was saying something in his sleep like "Okay I'll be up in a minute. Just give me a minute". In the other room of the dorm there were two guys I didn't recognise watching TV who didn't even acknowledge that I'd come in. Weird. Audey also had this little tortoishell kitten who purred really loud.
So after digging in my laundry a while having dug out Audey's purring kitten, I get up and go back to work... only... I walk... actually I plan to ride the bus, but it's only like 3 blocks from where I would have met the bus. Did I mention that I NEED my car at this job? Ok. So I end up walking the rest of the way becuase it takes me less time than it takes the bus to come.
I get to the job again. First of all... It's not a pizza place any more, it's like a classroom. And the teachers are not my boss. I get there and realise that all I did was take off my longjohns and throw on a coat. *snort* Yah... so.. Well I don't remember anything really after that I dont' think.
(ok.. I edited out some typos I found later... That'll teach me to blog a dream on the fly!)
I know I haven't talked about it much but so far the new job is going fine. To be honest, I'm a little leery about blogging my job stuff, since I never know who might read it. That's the reason when I posted about the job in the first place I didn't say the name of the company or the name of the contract, and for anyone who does know, I'd appreciate if you didn't either.
As far as the job goes, for the moment thought there isn't much to tell. We have a 5 week training course to complete and then "The Big Test". So after 4 and a half weeks of training, we did our final assessment today (never mind we still have some things to cover yet) and then after this week, 4 weeks of transitional training to do after we're done. I *think* our schedule will change slightly though, from 7 am to 8am start time, which is fine by me. It'll feel like I got to sleep in for at least a week before I get used to it. It sure will be nice to be able to stay up until 11 again. This 10pm bedtime is for the birds I have to tell you! It makes it hard to stay up or sleep in on the weekends when I can. You have no idea (or maybe you do) how annoying it is to wake up at 9 am on a Saturday morning and be unable to go to sleep.
Anyway, back to "The Big Test" I wasn't particularly worried about the test in the first place. I don't usually get test anxiety. I don't freak out if I don't get a perfect score, though it's nice. Right now I guess I'm about the top of my class. Until yesterday, I had 100% on all my small assessments. Yesterday I made up a test I missed last Friday because I went home sick for three hours. Unfortunately I DID miss one of those questions. I learned later that that question, I answered correctly according to our documentation, but that the test doesn't know the answer has changed. Apparently had I been there to take the test with the rest of the class, I would have been given the answer along with the rest of the class, but I wasn't so I missed it and scored a 90% on that one.
Anyway, so everyone spent the morning winding up or revving up for the test we knew we were going to spend the rest of the day after lunch taking. As I said, I wasn't particularly worried about it. I felt I knew how to find the answers. See .. .the test isn't so much a test of remembering every detail, but of knowing how to access your tools to find the information you need as you work with a customer. The information can change from day to day, so the emphasis is on making sure you're using your tools correctly and getting the information out of the system rather than your brain. I can do that. I had good confidence in that, so I wasn't worried. I knew I would pass easily, and in fact finished my test before the majority of the class. I think maybe 7 or 8 had signed the score card before I did, and (don't take this as bragging, ne? I'm not. It's just an observation, and in fact some of them if they had taken just a bit more time might have matched me too) I scored higher than any of them.
What did surprise me was when I clicked the 'finish' button and my score loaded.
100%
So I guess they might keep me on for transitional training now. ^_^ This is a good thing.
Just finished watching the last episode of Knights of Sidonia on Netflix. I really liked it. The story was good, and the artwork was beautiful. I was just a bit surprised that I'd sort of suddenly come to the end of it. That's a little bittersweet. On the other hand, a series that leaves me wanting more, generally indicates that it was a good one, and well worth watching if you enjoy Anime. Even if you usually don't it's worth watching.
Without giving any real spoilers, I'll just say that it's a post exodus future space & mecha based war against a monster species series. The music is really good. I loved the theme song and the English voice acting was also pretty well done. I may go back and watch at least some of it in Japanese and see how much it differs. I felt like the voice actors did a good job of relaying the sense of struggle in battle, and the tight and difficult emotions that can come from being at war with a poorly understood, devastatingly dangerous and difficult to defeat enemy bent on the annihilation of all of humanity, with which there is no real means of communication and no hope of negotiation whatsoever.
The Anime is based on a manga series by Tsutomu Nihei, published by Kodansha in their magazine Afternoon, and in English by Vertical. The anime adaptation, was produced by Polygon Pictures, is a Netflix exclusive.
There was a lot left unresolved in the series. Plenty of room to carry on the story either with another season, or I'm sure there is probably already fanfiction happening as well being as the original Manga began in 2009 and has been available in English for two years now.
So does anyone have any recommendations what to watch next? I'm working on a pretty big crochet project right now, so having a good series is helpful. Now that I'm out of Sidonia episodes and also just finished watching the second season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 of The 100 has no release date yet for Netflix, so I'm looking for other options.
