Where Am I Going in this Handbasket?

Title: Where Am I Going In This Handbasket?
Character[s]: Hermione Granger, Crookshanks, Marietta Edgecombe
Rating: PG-13
Challenge: Portkey Problems
House: Hufflepuff
Word Count: 100 by Semagic
Author's Notes: Another in the Marietta series.

Hermione was exasperated; Crookshanks had been hissing and yowling all afternoon.

"You silly cat," Granger snapped. "It's your very own basket, see?" Her fingers touched the wicker, and there was a momentary thrill of something's wrong in intuition before the Portkey activated and dragged her from her own bedroom and through the night sky.

She landed, breathless, on her knees, in a dark alley in a very bad part of London. "Wh-what?" she gasped.

"This," said a voice.

Hermione had only a glimpse of Marietta's face before the bright red flash of a curse off the wand blinded her.

House: Ravenclaw
Word Count: 100.
Characters/Pairings: Sirius Black/Rowena Vallance (or any other girl) (Mention of Snape)

She was running through the forbidden forest until she bumped into something.

“Ouch!“

She bent forward to help the person up, wondering who it was and what it had to do with her being here. She looked into a familiar face and suddenly she understood everything.

“Black!”

“Vallance?”

“Why are you doing this to me?”

“It wasn’t me this time! I swear! “

“Then why the hell is this all happening?”

“I think I have an idea.. But I don’t think that I’ll make Snivelly pay for his actions this time,“ said Sirius with a satisfied grin on his face.

Title: Reality Is Only An Illusion
House: Slytherin
Words: 100
Rating: PG
Challenge: Portkey Problems
Characters: Hermione/Severus

It was his birthday. No one should be alone on their birthday.

An owl, tapping at the window, startled him.

“Who the hell would be sending me a letter?”

He should’ve known better. Severus felt the tug behind his navel as he detached the letter.

He was standing in…a bedroom.

He barely had time to take in his surroundings when he noticed Hermione lying on the bed, wrapped in a silver bow, and nothing else.

“Granger?”

“Happy Birthday, Severus.”

“Please tell me you’re not the result of one too many Crucios.”

“I’m quite real.”

Severus smiled, even if she wasn’t…

Mother's Day

Title: Mother's Day
House: Gryffindor
Words: 100
Rating: G
Characters/Parings: Molly Weasley
Auhtor's Notes: So, I think this is really bad, but I'm going to post it to get the criticism.

Molly Weasley was cleaning up the Burrow. Why must she be stuck inside on Mother’s Day? It wasn’t fair. When she reached the twins’ pigsty of a room, she picked up one of their toy wands to throw it away. A bright light flashed before her and she fell. The hot sun beat down upon her back and turquoise water glimmered before her eyes. Molly felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around. There stood eight redheads plus Harry and Hermione. Arthur came over, drink in hand and Fred stepped forward.

“Welcome to the Caribbean, mum. Happy Mother’s Day!”

Escape // Betrayal

Title: Escape
House: Ravenclaw
Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairings: Hermione, Harry, possible H/Hr
Author's Notes: It's good to be back.
__________

There is a place she’d like to show him, a world she made of her own desire, of pristine air and crystal sky; the grass lays smooth, and the sun shines warmth into her core.

She shares this place with no one, save her closest friends: Shakespeare and Tennyson, Byron and Keats. Harry, she thinks, would appreciate them; Harry whose life was altered on a whim by a madman.

They’re alone in the library when she asks him, “Hand me that book, will you?” He reaches for the text, and she smiles as the room suddenly has one less student.

Author's Notes: Collapse )
__________

He stares at his only son, his reincarnation. He cannot decide whether he is angry at the stubborn man his boy has become, or proud of his determination.

"Draco, think of your mother. She’ll be heartbroken if she loses either of us, let alone both. You don’t want to hurt her—"

"Your guilt trip is going nowhere, Father. Either we go together, or I go alone. I’m not letting you fend for yourself."

"Very well," and he says flatly, and "Grab my cloak, won’t you? It’s on the bureau." He turns away, sighing, relieved that his blood is finally safe.

Angelic Betrayal

Title: Angelic Betrayal
House: Ravenclaw
Word Count: 100
Characters: Remus, Sirius, Peter, Death Eaters. Hints of Sirius/Remus
A/N: Hopefully this makes sense I'd meant for it to be darker and thus longer.

I see him through the open door; an angelic dream from a long forgotten memory. Before I can even think of the impossibilities I'm across the room. Looking at him sleeping I reach my hand out tentatively, afraid of him disappearing. The moment my fingers touch his cream skin I feel that pull that tells me I've been trapped.
My feet hit grass, a ring of night cloaked figures are whispering in the wind. My knees give out under my weight making it so I can only hear that familiar shuffling walk as Our Betrayer comes to stand before me.

Characters/Pairings: Remus, Sirius, Lily
Challenge: Portkey Problems
A/N: Okay, I know this is a bit of a spot-the-plotholes, but just try and switch off the part of your brain that screams This doesn't make sense! and enjoy.

“Guess what I’ve done,” Sirius grins, waving a sock in Remus’ face.
“Taken your sock off?” Remus asks, not looking up.
“Yes…and turned it into a portkey!”
“Does that explain the smell?”
“That’s the pigswort that went into the potion, Lily got it for me.”
“Lily Evans got the ingredients for a potion that creates an illegal portkey? Doesn’t that seem a bit…odd?”
“Well, yes but she seemed so keen to help.”
Without further ado Sirius grabs Remus’ wrist and places it on the sock.
They land with a crash in Dumbledore’s office.

“I’m gonna kill you, Evans” Sirius growls.

Quick Silver

Title: Quick Silver
House: Ravenclaw
Word Count: 100
Challenge: Portkey Problems
Characters/Pairings: Peter Pettigrew
A/N: I can see Lord Voldemort doing this; you know if he stopped chasing Harry and thought out his plans.

At first he just thought he was misplacing things; keys, books, his wand, small things like that, things that often get misplaced in everyday life. Then other things starting getting lost; chairs, trees, people.
They'd just vanish, no traces left, no bones or notes. He tried not to think about it, then it started happening more and more and always around him. No one stood near him anymore, the furniture disappeared, then slowly the house, he became afraid to touch anything.
Thinking he was insane they'd forced him to remove his silver hand, his fear.
They still haven't found him.

“Relax Ronniekins. As long as we got our wands---“

“…we can leave here in no time” Fred finished.

“It was a bloody buffet, you nitwits.” Draco exclaimed “A peace party. No wands, and why didn’t we think of it before? Hurry up!”

“Right. Fred, your wand please.”

Title: Mousetrap
House: Gryffindor
Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairings: Neville, Tonks, Moody
Rating: G
Challenge: Portkey Problems

Neville grows tired of waiting for Professor Vorian to show up. The tray on the desk is looking more and more interesting as the minutes tick by. He picks up a toothpick speared through a delectable looking morsel.

He finds himself staring down Tonk’s wand, before she recognizes him and drops her arm. “Relax!” she yells. “It’s just Neville!”

There’s a collective groan from the ring of Aurors.

Moody lumbers forward. “Longbottom! Don’t you have better sense than to go around picking up unattended cheese? You wouldn’t last ten minutes as a mouse!”

“It was cheddar!” Neville explains indignantly.
