Pansy had a thing for him.

He knew this, but he didn't feel the same way. He let the ruse play the way it should---or rather as he knew his family thought it should. When no one else was with him, he watched the other girl, carefully. She had stopped liking Harry, and he was pleased. But now she was often accompanied by any random Gryffindor male.

"Happy Christmas!" Pansy kissed him and sat down. "This is for you!"

He pretended to like it. At this point, he was the best actor in the world.

He had to be.

The first of every month, Ron woke to find something on his bed.

Now in his fifth year, he expected it. Required it. He had no idea of the sender, but this time it was Honeydukes chocolate, and he figured that even if it were Neville, well....

He knew it wasn't Neville. It might be Lavender, whom he'd seen watching him. Or Padma.

He hoped, though, it wasn't any of them. He was hoping for someone else, but he kept thinking it was irrational, because she was the smartest person he'd ever met, and he was just....another ginger Weasley.
