March Reads & Playlist

Hello!

This might be a new thing on the blog, especially if I want to talk about the books I read in a month, so maybe it would be a good idea to include these subjects together. Let’s start with the books.

💚 Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
💚 Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
💚 Stranded with a Dirty-Talking Shifter by Olivia T. Turner
💚 City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
💚 Stranded with a Ravenous Shifter by Olivia T. Turner
💚 A Deeper Love by Cassandra Clare and Maureen Johnston
💚 The Sirens by Emilia Hart

It’s been a Cassandra Clare month.

I started reading The Infernal Devices series back in November. I really enjoyed the first book and gave it five stars and then quickly attempted to read the second, but I had a difficult time connecting to the story at the time and I decided to push it back. In a way to make sure I didn’t do what I did with Janette Oke’s When Calls the Heart back in 2024, I put the series on my reading challenge and I’m very glad I did it as I had a reason to go back to it–not to say the characters and events weren’t enough to pull me back.

I’m still a little bit confused by certain events, but I really enjoyed that world and fell deeply in love with the characters, and then after I finished the books, I decided to give the original series The Mortal Instruments another try, even if I didn’t include it into my original lineup. Honestly, I wanted another series by Cassie, The Last Hours. I’m currently in line for the audiobook of “City of Gold” as it’s the next series in line and includes the children of the characters mentioned in the TID books. I have already read “City of Bones” in 2020, so it was just a refreshment and now I’m in line for “City of Ashes” and I’m hoping the audiobook will still be available when it’s my turn so keep your toes crossed for me.

As I was swept up in that world, I found another set of books that were shorter but kept the ‘fantasy’ theme alive, in case anything diverted me and I found series called Marooned for the Night written by a few authors, one of which was Olivia T. Turner. I had never heard of her or the other books, but I read the fourth book first and then went back to the beginning and so far, they are pretty good and I would like to read the ones written by Olivia; I’m not sure about the others, but open to it at a later date.

My next book was a surprise. I had wanted to read it back in September, I think. The cover and blurb were intriguing to me, and I had one of those moments where I knew I would enjoy it wholeheartedly, but I was just not in the mood to have it without the audiobook. I couldn’t find it on my LbbyApp so I had to ignore my gut again and push it away. I was going to include it in my reedling challenge. but I just kept it off for some reason. However, I went looking on the app again and there it was ready to borrow and luckily it was still available on KU so I took the opportunity and I definitely don’t regret it.

It was SO good! We may be entering our fourth month of the year, but I really believe it’s my favorite so far. I also took the hint that since it was my fourth book that talks about sirens/mermaids that I think it’s officially safe to say I’m in my oceanic era. So, if you know anything that would resemble The Sirens by Emilia Hart, please send them my way! Hopefully I can find the audio through my local library.

Now, let’s switch our focus on the music I was enjoying–honestly, music takes a step back whenever I get on my audiobooks for obvious reasons, but I’ve been watching more reels on Facebook, and my algorithm has been giving me a lot of music I wouldn’t be able to find on my own. Most of the time, it’s Instagram doing this, but I try to keep myself open to new stuff on all of my social media platforms.

Here are my Top 15 for this month. If you’re interested in checking out the full playlist, click here.

June, July & August Playlists!

Hello!

Well, here I am.

Back on another Monday (I’m currently recovering for a stomach bug!) day to release my Spotify playlists of the last three months.

As we are now coming out of the summer months, I am changing my summer playlist like crazy. I’ve rearranged songs that I thought I would incorporate throughout the season, but then I’d take them out completely. I hope to have that out for you late September, but like with everything else, we’ll just have to see, and I hope you guys can wait for the right time.

I feel like as long as I continue to create the playlists, I will hopefully post them on here so everyone can hear something different and/or new. I haven’t listened to a lot of albums. I’d say around four at best. Sleep Token, Royale Lynn, Stray Kids, and one other that I can’t recall at the moment.

I don’t mean to leave you for basically two or three months and come back for a week, but at least it’s something, right? The links to each month’s playlist are attached to the covers. All right, I think it’s time to dive into the playlists. Enjoy!

January & February Playlist

Hello!

Welcome back to Got Meghan’s Blog.

It’s been a minute since I’ve published ANYTHING on here and I’m actually happy to be blogging again. I have a lot of stuff I want to do this year–blog wise! And I hope you will enjoy at least something I’ve done in 2025. Come back on Wednesday and Friday to see my new Reading Journal and what I’ve reading lately.

I didn’t want to give you a new monthly playlist without including what I was also listening to in January, so with that said, here are my Top 10. The main reason why I was only able to do a smaller list compared to February’s is I listened to LuAnna: The Podcast and Tudor Dynasty more than music! I was shocked to see my playlist under 100 songs, but I really liked the change a little bit. If you enjoy podcasts like these, please give them a go! Give me your suggestions for comedy, women, history, type of podcasts in the comments.

If you’d like to check out the full Spotify playlist, click the decorated banner.

What Have They Done To Us by Mako, Grey, Sasaha Alex Sloane
High On Me: Retold by Saliva featuring Lauren Babic and Judge & Jury
Wish I Could Forget – Zomboy Remix by SLANDER featuring blackbriar and Bring Me The Horizon

February has had a lot of interesting releases. Lacuna Coil has put out a new album (I have yet to listen to it though!) and Papa Roach has come back with a new song, along with Shinedown and 10 Years. I’ve loved every single Imagine Dragons has been on lately! The real kicker of the entire month has been Backstreet Boys’s new song. My inner child has been doing a happy dance and the fact that they’re celebrating a new Vegas residency and the 25th anniversary of their third album “Millenium”.

March is interesting as a whole, because most of the songs that come out are the “starter course” for the summer. Everything about summer festivals, albums, tours, etc usually explode in the third month of the year. I’m very excited about what else is in store for us!

Let’s get into the final playlist of the day. Click the blue and white banner for the FULL Spotify playlist.

The Appartition by Sleep Token

All right folks, I am done for the day. I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post. I’m not sorry for making it so long, I had a lot to say and of course the lists require quite a bit of space too. Some people are happy with this format, and I’ll be honest, it is better on me to create it like this. You can always skip my thoughts and favorites and just listen to the actual playlists instead.

Summer ’24 Playlist 🍦🥇

Hello everyone.

I’m so happy summer is over. I know I don’t talk a great deal about the music I enjoyed this year, but I want to save some things for the September playlist next week.

As much as I adore autumn, it’s usually a hit or miss for us where we live. We have been experiencing a lot of “Indian Summers” where the summer temperatures will creep back on us when we’re not looking; that’s when my chronic pain kicks up a few notches and I have to watch the trees change colors from my bedroom.

My mom and I have been looking forward to decorating the house for autumn/Halloween. She has really blossomed since having our new porch, as she bought these fake leaves garland to go along the rails and it looks so pretty. She had another wreath for the front, but she didn’t like how it turned out and I liked it with its quirky look, and it now hangs out on the backside of my door.

I have a special light, my dad made it for me a couple of years ago. I have used it in the past for Christmas decorations, but this year I really wanted to create something fun, and I was so excited to bring out my trustee orange and white plaid pumpkins with some family decor like a Halloween globe and little witch that tends to cause trouble every once in a while. My mom had a strand of garland left over and it fits beautifully up on the light.

The final addition are these medium sized lanterns, and they are so cute! They are black and have a little scene in the middle of a haunted house and tiny bats flying in the sky. They have a switch on the bottom and go perfectly with the vibe I wanted to create this year. They were priced nicely, better compared to the wreath I bought… It was such a pretty gothic wreath, but it didn’t want to stay up on the wall and it broke apart. My mom and I were so sad, but I am enjoying what I have in my room to celebrate the new season.

Now that I’m finished, let’s get into the summer playlist. The real reason why you’re here right? No big deal, I’m fine with it. However, I do want to give you a warning that there is a lot of K-Pop included in the 2024 Summer Playlist, so you may want to prepare yourself for this.

If you would like to listen to the whole playlist, click here.

I am still planning on releasing my September playlist next Monday, so that’s why I wanted to keep this on the shorter side. So, keep an eye out for that just in case all of the K-pop isn’t part of your style.

What were your Top 3 or 10 this summer?

July & August Playlist

Hello!

Does anyone get to the middle of a month and suddenly forget you haven’t switched to the next? I was so confused a couple of weeks ago, I almost gave you the Summer 2024 playlist. We even moved my calendar closer so I could get a feeling to blog and map out the scheduling and I still didn’t realize it. For some clarification, II do not publish until summer is officially over, which will happen on September 22nd, for any of my autumnal folks out there!

For today, I thought I would do what I did back in May and give you August’s top 20 and July, because since we went up north, we were all forced to listen to my sister’s music. She has pretty good music, but she likes the skip button just as much as I do! The thing was, every once in a while, we had to listen Cocomelon’s nursery rhymes for a good twenty minutes for Kimber… Thankfully, it wasn’t Blippi. I hated that guy when Nolan was her age. Now Nolan loves BMTH!

Anyways, here is what I was into for July. If you’d like to listen to the full playlist on Spotify, click here.

Sweet Escape by Alesso featuring Tove Lo
Body Say by Demi Lovato
Who’s Laughing Now by Ava Max
Tough by Lana Del Rey featuring Quavo

Chk Chk Boom by Stray Kids
Can U See Me In The Dark by Halestom x I Prevail
I Will Not Bow by Breaking Benjamin
Unfolding by Luca Fogale
Deal With It by Ashnikko featuring Kelis
Hurricane by BADVILLAIN

Whenever we start on another year or slide into August, I tend to dive into the nostalgic pool for a while. In the last couple of years, I have found a way out of this habit and exchange it with the current aesthetic playlists I’m creating for a certain book. I’ve finally stopped with The Empyrean by Rebecca Yarros. I’m still in the process of reading the novellas Victoria Aveyard wrote with the rest of the Red Queen series, but I’m slowing down on it, so that’s good.

I know you’re probably over me talking about the aesthetic playlists, so I’ll just tell you my Top 20 for this month. Again, if you’d like to hear the rest of the songs, you can click here too.
