5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Book Challenge

Hello!

I had found this challenge on Instagram back in May, and I was going to only post it on there, but I’d really like to get back into these types of posts again, especially if they’re as easy as this one. So, everybody is welcomed to join this challenge or tag, whatever you want to call it.

5 Favorite recent reads:

It was actually really difficult to choose because I’ve had quite a few good ones lately, but sticking with my monthly favorites, my favorites have been: The Lady of the Rivers by Philippa Gregory, The Lady of Larkspur Vale by Kasey Stockton, I Am Henry by Jan Henrik Vasterstraten and Massimo Barbato, King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard and Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros.

4 Auto buy (or Most Popular) Authors:

If Kennedy Fox hadn’t broken up earlier this year and then remove all of their books (I’m still not over it!) they’d be in the running for first place, but my other favorites are definitely worthy of every bit of glory, and they are Melanie Karsak, Kasey Stockton (my newest obsession!), Vanessa Vale and Alison Weir.

3 Trobes

This was an interesting search for me, because I wasn’t sure there were any trobes outside the world of romance, but I was wrong and there are TONS of trobes in every category or genre. This website was very helpful.

My favorites are ‘enemies to lovers’ for the romance side; ‘a hero’s journey’ and ‘what life was like’ are definitely directed towards my love of historical fiction. I am naturally thinking about how another person lives, both past and present. I like to see how someone’s perspective of life can change within themselves and/or time.

2 Places to Read:

I only have a few places to read. Unfortunately, I can’t lie on my stomach and lift my own arms and head up (that is certainly too much work!) like most people. However, I do enjoy being able to listen to audiobooks. I was and actually prefer to use YouTube, they have a lot of versions of classic literature, like Charles Dickens, Jane Austen and Oscar Wilde, but there are a few modern authors who upload their own audiobooks to their channels like Kasey Stockton and I tend to search for videos with text or subtitles.

My other absolute favorite place is outside, with my cats. I started with just my book of the moment, but now I take my little “breakfast in bed” table that is at the perfect level for me to do everything from crafts with Nolan to reading and taking notes for my reading journal. I generally have to keep a small space for Chatter or Grumpy to rest on. Thankfully, they are more comfortable to clean and sleep next to me and the table.

1 Book I Can’t Wait To Buy:

As far as I know, I’ve preordered Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros when it comes out in January 2025. It seems like I long wait considering the fact that she had the first two of the series release in the same year… However, I know and understand for the wait. I’m still waiting for Melanie Karsak to release the third book of The Crows and Eagles series, and it’s been pushed back twice…

I am hoping to buy another book that isn’t new but would complete at least one of the book series on my bookshelf and that is the collector’s edition of Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I have the other three in hardback, but not the first book and I’d really like to get least the regular hardcover or the shiny red, sprayed edges with its own case I tend to find on Amazon. I wouldn’t bother getting Glass Sword as I hated that one. Maybe for my birthday since I’ve got OS coming a month afterwards? 😁

Well, that’s it for this post. I hope you have enjoyed it. I’m truly surprised I didn’t ramble on like I did last week. I really need to stop doing that!

If you decide to do this challenge, whether you post it on Instagram or your blog/YT, let me know in the comments.
