Each year I re-post the memories which many of you have shared with me of your experiences on 9/11 and I ask the rest of you to please tell me your stories, too.
Ten years after that awful day, I still grieve, as do many of you. And I'm still interested in hearing about where you were that day and your experiences were, whether you were oblivious to it all or you've lost friends or acquaintences (as is the case for angelicus, mockingbird39, nephele and harmony_bites), or perhaps, like me, you simply echo John Donne's sentiment, "Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind."
So, please tell me your stories. I’m not looking for your opinion of 9/11 now; I’m interested in what that moment in time was like for you then. What were you thinking? What were you doing? How did it impact you personally? How significant is that date to you now, a decade later?
And here are two links to the same document containing stories from angelicus, cookie2697, janajoh, mockingbird39, muffinkath7, nephele, tasyfa, jandjsalmon, laurenc21, martinigrl, rhetoretician, lapaglia44, harmony_bites and me. All stories are used with permission. However, if you'd like your story to be removed from this list, or if you'd like to tell me your story now, but don't want it archived for future use, please let me know. I'm interested in hearing your story whether or not you're comfortable with me sharing it with others in the future.
Thank you!

Happy Birthday, mockingbird39! It's midnight in Boston now, and judging by your earlier texts (you do remember those, right?) you'll be pretty hungover by morning. So I'm posting now. In honor of your current state of being (and since I couldn't deliver Captain Jack to you. I tried, but he's still in some off-planet bar, hitting on some sailor), I bring you:
Also, I wrote a review of Innocent, and I only insulted you once, since it's your birthday. Whore.
(Sorry, Roswell fandom. I'm afraid Jason Behr missed this momentous date by one day. This is unsurprising, as I've heard from a few reliable sources on my f-list that he's a bit slow. Bless his heart.)
I bring you three wonderful writers - er, no pun intended - a birthday greeting fit for a queen. (It was made for the Queen Mum's 100th bday.)
Pookie is in here watching the Buffy musical, "Once More With Feeling," which the hubby and I thought would be okay for her at this point. She loves musicals, there's nothing too graphic or scary in this episode, and not any adult content for us to be concerned about.
And yet.
Now I find myself in an argument with her about why she can't mimic Spike's expressions. I caught her saying, "Bugger this!" She thinks it's funny-sounding gibberish (though she also thinks that about most Brit-speak, lol!) and refuses to believe it's a vulgar figure of speech.
Hopefully she'll obey on this one. Otherwise, I'll be hearing from her school soon, asking me why my daughter is swearing in Brit.
I'm a sucker for old commercials, particularly those that get me bawling (which is not really a hard thing to accomplish, truthfully). So here are some links and a poll for you.
