Thank you for the ask! Here’s another snippet from across the great divide:
Charles knows that he probably shouldn’t kill Simon Mould. It’d cause way more problems than it’d solve, even if he knows Crystal and Niko would be willing to help him hide the body in a heartbeat. Plus, he’d make a mess of Edwin’s flat, and that would just upset Edwin. But looking at Edwin, who’s sitting so tense that he looks like he might break in half, his face deathly pale and hands gripping the arms of his chair, it’s hard to remember that. Edwin looks afraid, and that’s enough to make Charles’s blood boil.
Charles takes a step forward. “Back up.”
But Simon doesn’t budge from where he’s standing over Edwin, even though his eyes are wide as they flick between Charles, Crystal, and Niko. “You always seem to show up where you’re not wanted, Rowland.”
“You don’t want me here, mate?” Charles mimes a disappointed expression. “That’s a shame. Why don’t you go cry to your fiancee about it?”
“Simon and Emily are no longer engaged,” Edwin says.
“Oh, good for her,” Crystal says from behind Charles. “She can do so much better.”
Simon whirls on her. “What do you know about me and Emily?”
