It is worth noting that in the previous SPI at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Levineps/Archive#01 February 2014, checkuser found User:CensoredScribe and User:Tranquility of Soul to be "unrelated". Psychonaut (talk) 22:30, 27 May 2014 (UTC)reply

It states that they are unrelated to Levineps. It makes not mention whether they are related to each other. A comparison of the edits to comic book categories alone indicate that ToS is related to CS. MarnetteD | Talk 22:35, 27 May 2014 (UTC)reply

In this edit, he adds several wildly inappropriate categories to a fiction-related article (a video game). In this edit, he identifies a fictional character as a mass murderer based solely on his own original research, and he edit wars to include it. This is essentially the same thing as CensoredScribe's instance on adding his bizarre interpretations of Batman as a psychologist and chemist. This edit, this edit show his continued interest in Batman-related articles, and this edit shows a similar interest in Superman, a character that he also previous edited. In this edit, he shows an interest in category:fictional swordsmen, a category with which CensoredScribe was obsessed. @Mike V: I hope that you take a look at the edits by the previously identified socks? Their editing is confined to adding categories to various articles. This new sock has followed that exact same pattern. In other words every edit is a diff that supports The Farix's statement. While most of the edits are to comic books and video games but the socks go farther afield on occasion. They ignore the guidelines regarding cats, i.e. that there must be sourced info in the article and it must be a defining feature. This sock was using edit summaries for awhile but has stopped. I suspect to avoid giving the game away. But this one is a classic example of CS's MO. It always boils down to "I saw (or read) it so the I put the category into the article." I have seen a lot of WP:DUCKs quacking in my time editing here and this one is as loud as the come. MarnetteD|Talk 05:29, 9 August 2014 (UTC)reply

This is a procedural report made at the suggestion of Ponyo. "Bullets and Bracelets" was blocked as a sock of CensoredScribe after this thread Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive270#MarnetteD has some loose standards for sock puppet investigations.3B Tranquility of Soul shares little resemblance to CensoredScribe. After the block B&B admitted to the socking and also mentioned that "Sockratic Method" was another sock that they had created in the past. B&B's talk page has been rev/deleted by Ohnoitsjamie as a courtesy to the various editors (including myself) who had received personal attacks in the rambling unblock requests but you can check with O to see if I have misread anything that was there. Now the editors have already been blocked but Ponyo mentioned that "As most of the CU data for CensoredScribe is stale, adding newly discovered confirmed accounts to the SPI would likely be helpful for future checks."   • Thanks for your note and your time Vanjagenije. As I mentioned Ohnoitsjamie performed the courtesy rev/del but any admin can check what was there. B&B stated that they had admitted to using SM as a sock in an email to Arbcom but the things that person has done and written are so "twisty turny" that I wouldn't know whether to trust that statement or not. I had a thought this morning - is it too late to ask for a checkuser. This person willingness to create sockpuppets makes me think that there might be some waiting out there for us. Thanks again. This is an old one, but perhaps worth checking into. Edits are all creating, adding, and removing categories from various articles. What brought this to my attention was when an IP complained that Pikachu was erroneously categorized in Category:Fictional pikas even though there is not a single source making the claim that Pikachu is related to the pika. This user has created Category:Arrowverse characters, a category similar to those that Censored and their socks have created in the past. Admin/Checkuser note: There is the possibility that Censored and User:TreCoolGuy are related socks, given recent SPIs for both users (see this archive, plus Tre's archive for what I mean). Based on the closing admin's comment back in June 2016, I felt this was the more proper SPI to add this user, though you may find that Tre is the more appropriate one to add this check. I came here to make the same report. This new user account recreated Category:Marvel Cinematic Universe actors with text essentially identical to what was deleted more than a year ago:

You couldn't possibly write with such a close similarity to the old text if you'd never seen it, and what new user knows to go to archive.org to find a page's appearance before its deletion more than a year earlier? Note that I am mainly familiar with this user through interactions with their confirmed sock Schmidt-austin. Just like Schmidt, FrenchToast's (who has only been active since late March 2018) contributions are primarily that they continuously create and recreate (see also: , , ) bad character categories related to adaptations of comic characters, which are almost always deleted per consensus and then recreated by this user. Also like Schmidt-austin, most of FrenchToast's contributions are either sandbox edits, WP:FILM or WP:COMICS articles, creating these categories, or mass-adding these categories to comic character articles (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , ). Examples include some variation on Category:Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, Category:X-Men franchise characters and, in FrenchToast's case, Category:Arkham series characters. The only time either one of them uses edit summaries or discusses anything is when their status is questioned and they are at risk to get blocked (or want to get unblocked) (, , , , ).

Wrong. That old category was constantly deleted because it ended up being filled with non-MCU specific character that just happen to appear in the MCU. I created that new category to be clearly specifically for the MCU only characters. And if for real think I'm a sock puppet then I feel sorry for you, considering you can easily find in my edit history that I have combated these kinds of poor categories in the past. This user was partially blocked by King of Hearts from creating categories in a recent WP:AN thread , and a few users there (including TheJoebro64 and Izno) expressed their concerns that Cwf97 is CensoredScribe. Since a SPI was likely coming sooner or later, I figured it was best to go ahead and file it. The main cause of concern is that Cwf97's editing style overlaps a lot with CensoredScribe's - Creating copious amounts of trivial categories, heavily editing film, comic book, and character related topics, refusing to engage in any communication except briefly after they are warned (before going right back to not communicating), ignoring notices and warnings, ETC.

I actually had some suspicions that Cwf97 might be CensoredScribe/Schmidt-austin when I filed the (oddly nitpicked and overlooked) ANI report against them in November 2019. However, aside from the cricket noises at ANI, the main thing that kept me from filing a SPI was the fact that Cwf97 has been active since 2016. In the four years since then, CensoredScribe has created various other sock puppets that have been spotted and blocked, which leads me to believe there is a chance that this is a coincidence.   • Nobody else is commenting, so I guess I will. I'm not feeling it. CensoredScribe's edits treat Wikipedia like it's Wikia. They're crufty, incompetent, and based on a fan POV. Cwf97 mostly just seems to like creating massive amounts of unnecessary categories. Cwf97 doesn't argue bizarre things like that "Batman has every science skill" and then attempt to categorize Batman as such. I'm closing with no action. CensoredScribe is known for creating and populating hyper-specific fiction-related categories. The accounts above have all done the same. Particular areas of focus include fictional characters' occupations, nationalities, military ranks, and weapon types; navigation templates; Marvel characters; and My Little Pony. For a quick comparison, see the CfD notices on their user talk pages. Notice also that they all add the "category explanation" template. duckmegaphone Sounds like a duck quacking into a megaphone to me I looked into a few more of the created categories and sure enough they're previously deleted ones made by CensoredScribe. I will block this account.

Requesting a CU given that this account was created in August 2021 and just blocked another account Sgnurdlew (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) a couple days ago as a sock, suggesting there may be more sleepers. No CU requested, of course. I'm not extremely familiar with CensoredScribe, but at first I was convinced this was them. They are re-populating recent category creations by the last sock, Nigoyyakot. However some behaviors are different and I second guessed myself, so decided to let people who are more familiar with the master's patterns to take a look. I was initially drawn to the IP's efforts to populate Category:Fictional kyūjutsuka.   • No, wrong continent for CensoredScribe. Maybe some day I'll write a page on the CheckUser wiki that describes the Brazilian socks I'm aware of, the category-obsessed socks, and the socks who edit pop culture articles. But I can't go into it here. For what it's worth, editors on this ISP most often bounce around on a /47 or /48. I don't recognize this IP editor, though it seems to have been around for years; see Category:Fictional demon hunters. If this is a sock, the trail will have likely gone cold a long time ago. I noticed Wahspsneh creating hyper-specific fictional character categories like Category:Fictional capitalists and Category:Fictional characters from Valencia. This is the third time a CensoredScribe sock has created Category:North American superheroes. I am requesting CheckUser because CensoredScribe usually has more than one sock running concurrently. @RoySmith: I'm pretty sure Samantha Ireland (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki · SI) was him as well. That account created categories for "Fictional robotic martial artists", "Fictional improvisational dancers", "Fictional Atlanta Police Department officers", and so on. But I'm deleting some of the many, many "fictional" categories created by Wahspsneh and I came across the new account User:Deulslirep who is adding a lot of articles to the categories that Wahspsneh created over the past few months. Understood. I actually find it reassuring that checkusers ask for a second opinion. The consequences of being identified as a sockpuppet are immediate and usually end an editor's activity forever so you want to be sure and, from what I gather, checkuser results are often not black/white in terms of certainty. I am not super familiar with this user, but previous socks have created very specific fictional character categories, which this account has (like Category:Yuri harem anime and manga, Category:Fictional characters with regressed ageing, Category:Fictional secret agents and spies in anime and manga) and even recreated Category:Female harem anime and manga, which was originally created by a CU-confirmed sock of CensoredScribe. What overlap? That editor vandalised in a mention of "Chris (son)", while I added information on the prequel novel The Evolution of Claire, written by Tess Sharpe and released in 2018 in conjunction with the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. And I added the "Musical navigational boxes" category to that template because half the links on the template are about the musical adaptation and its film adaptation. It fits. New user registered and creates Category:Fictional redemption seekers, a very specific fictional character category, as their third edit. They then created Category:Anime and manga about non-monogamy and polyamory not too long later. Creating specific fiction categories is a common behavior for this user. Not to mention the latter topic is related to Harem (genre), a topic this user has edited extensively in the past (, among others). CensoredScribe was known for its edits relating to fiction categories, particularly creating super-specific ones. This account has already created a category, Category:Fantasy comedy anime and manga. In fact, of the account's 42 edits so far, almost all of them are adding categories to pages, which is what censored scribe was known for. This account has also edited some of the same articles as the last confirmed sockpuppets: Reapers (Mass Effect) (, ), Key worker (, ), Galactic Empire (, ), List of Cardcaptor Sakura characters (, ), Attribute (role-playing games) (, ), and Yuri (genre) (, ).
