sharp things with pointiness

I'm home. Working here today for reasons that apparently would have been rendered moot if I'd just spoken up. But it's a big head high person in Europe! I'm too new to tell him I'll call him after he's eaten dinner! I now have orders to do so next time, so, you know, nice guy, but day at home, woot.

While I'm still working on that attempt to catch up with other media, I'm pretty permanently time shifted for the time being. Which might be a good thing, now that I think about it. Yes, I support the writers, because, 'scuse me, what the hell? But still, ack, my shows!

Being home today, however, means I have seen and flailed at last night's SPN, and...oh, I don't feel cut-tagging anything, not even the question from the first ten minutes that I suppose imdb will answer. Anyway. [livejournal.com profile] yuletide has first priority over everything else fannish right now, but one of my goals for this SPN hiatus is to catch up on picspams, if only because I could use more doses of the eye candy. A question for those who wander, though: there was a convention, I gather, with pictures and reports, and okay, please, tell me they're safe? Or am I going to be side-stepping spoilers all over, in my day of cut-tag clicking freedom?

Other things that could be called exciting (since I just realized how long it's been since I last updated), include a daytrip that included both insanity and puppies, with pictures to come. And I got stabbed with a needle the other day. First flu shot ever, but there's no shortage this time when they were offering it for free; I told her not to tell me when, just stick me; now if I get sick, I'm going to be really very annoyed; and I've got another question. I know there's sometimes soreness at the point of jabbing, but is it normal for it to not be sore until two days later? For the record, there never was any bruising, I'm not feeling any other side effects, and I didn't get a lollipop.

...I should go catch up on comments. I've got to do a bit more work type stuff, but yeah, that is actually fannish priority #1.

The answer to teh question from the first ten minutes is yes, that was Mercedes McNab. Apparently with a nose job. ::sigh::

Puppies!

Wow, has she played anything but vampires?

And no pictures of puppies, unfortunately, but the most adorable little golden-poodle mix ever. I always thought that would be very weird, but he was puppy all over and gorgeous.

There's one spoilery thing in the con talk. I'm pretty sure it comes when JA and JP are back on stage again together at the end. JA preceeds it by saying, "I'm not going to spoil" and his idea of not spoiling and other people's ideas (like mine) do not coincide. *g* It's a small thing, but it is a thing.

My flu shot didn't hurt at all when I got it, and was sore that night and the next day. But I got a lollipop.

This is in the video from...oy, who'd I look at? sin_attract, or something like that? Anyway, okay, I'll stop then.

Yeah, no hurt right then, other then, OW, NEEDLE, but then it was like I'd gotten punched in the arm. Still no bruising, though, and it's gone now, yay. Our HR lady was all "OMG, I forgot!" about the lollipops. We had some left over from the costumed kiddies invasion the other week, so I grabbed one when I went back up to my office.

It's totally usual for vaccination sites not to hurt until later. Do you have a sort of knot, and it aches? That means its doing its job and creating antibodies that will, hopefully -- if they predicted the strains right -- protect you from flu. This year. Heat can help with the soreness.

I have too much experience with vaccines.

The longer the writers strike goes on (and it's early days yet), the more I'm looking forward to a hiatus of most of my shows. There's so many series I've wanted to try but never had time, and now my television schedule will be minimal. It's kind of beautiful.

Yay puppies!

The J&J panel is 99% spoiler-free (as in, I'm very hardcore anti-spoiler, and the one or two miniscule things they said seemed obvious enough to me as to not count). I can't say as to the Samantha Ferris one, though, since I haven't seen it.

Flu shots could easily be sore for a couple of days. If the soreness goes on longer, I'm given to understand they may have done the shot wrong (happened to me once with a pneumonia shot, hurt like hell for a week) but there's nothing to be done about it and it isn't a harmful condition. So.

Also, every time I've ever had a flu shot I've simply gotten a grosser and more resilient strain. Last year it was Norovirus. Not looking to repeat that experience.

So, I hope you have better luck than I've had!

Yes, you can be sore for several days after the shot. I bring an ice pack with me every time I have a shot now. Meep. I think it might still help after the fact? I hope so.

Also, ack 5am.
