no order whatsoever

* Yuletide signups, OMG.

* Doctor Who folks, do I need to have seen all the way through Ten's season to watch Torchwood?

* Firefox 2.0 looks funky. (No, I don't know if that's the good or bad kind.)

* I have found my fall apple scent! Not that the majority of you care, but Punkie Night is precisely what I've been looking for since I first thought, "Huh, so...BPAL," and that is a Big Damn Deal to me.

* On a related note, I really wish they'd brought Snow White back. Anyone got any they don't want?

* My VCR no longer tapes on a timer, and I can't get the tape that's in there out of there. Bah, and bah humbug.

* The dog is gone. This is good; Toby-Dog he was not. Sam and I celebrated with the finest tuna and cookies in all the land.

* I almost bought fuzzy knee-high socks with alternating stripes of ORANGEBLACKORANGE today.

YOU ARE SUCH A FREAK.

(Dude, you write in teenyfont, I'm so gonna call you out on it. *g*)

Hey, you going to be home early again tomorrow? Is there a good time to call?

[identity profile] jenlev.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
hee! and yes, wrote in itsy-teeny-weeny font because i'm utterly spaced this evening. well, at least that's my current excuse.

i will be leaving at noon tomorrow come hezmana or high water and would love to chat. i'll leave my cell on in case you get my voice mail on the landline? :)

[identity profile] elishavah.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Uh-huh. Riiiight.

::loves you::

And yeah, I'll give you a call about 1?

[identity profile] jenlev.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
heh heh heh...i also keep list of scary excuses to use as needed. ;)

:::loves you right back:::

how about 1:30 instead as i have to stop and do a few errands on the way home? (gah, groceries and stuff)

[identity profile] boofadil.livejournal.com 2006-10-26 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you're pretty good as long as you've seen through new!Who 2.02, though seeing the last two eps will give you more of an understanding of Torchwood. Sort of.

[identity profile] elishavah.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Hm, I made it through 207 before getting behind and getting distracted, but from what K and others are saying below, looks like I should catch up.

[identity profile] boofadil.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I do recommend watching it, if only for how gorgeously the last three or so eps are shot. I loved it. Others didn't. I just don't think it's necessary to watch it to understand Torchwood as a show. Most of the references (except for one so far) all seem to focus on the last eps of season 1 and the Christmas Invasion. *shrug*

[identity profile] kerlin.livejournal.com 2006-10-26 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Doctor Who folks, do I need to have seen all the way through Ten's season to watch Torchwood?

I don't think it's strictly necessary, but I'd highly recommend it.

I'm liking Firefox 2.0 so far, not least because I spent an indulgent hour loading it up with all sorts of plug-ins that I'm now running ragged. *g*

[identity profile] elishavah.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Guess I'll catch up, then.

And HA. Oh, I'd been holding off on exploring, so far. What have you found that's making you happy? Share!

[identity profile] kerlin.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Lessee.

I am loving FoxyTunes, which puts a very discreet media player in the corner of your browser that can then control another media player - I've got iTunes running through it right now. It cuts down on the back and forth.

I also swear by the Web Developer tool bar, which lets me dissect sites in any number of ways. I use an extension to search the library catalogue here. I've added Wikipedia and weather.com to my search bar. I have to edit certain things in IE, so I've got an extension to open a tab in an IE environment.

There are also a few security features...I beefed up the adblocker and grabbed an extension to block Javascript.

...I have no geek icon. Laura will have to do.

[identity profile] elishavah.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm, I've got all of those except the beefed-up adblocker. What does it deal with that the normal block doesn't? Like, can it preemptively zap those damn slide-over ones?

[identity profile] thepouncer.livejournal.com 2006-10-26 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Those socks sound terrific. Yay!

Boo to VCR woes. I am waiting of Firefox 2.0 for a couple of weeks, so that my extensions will be updated and usable.

And I know, about Yuletide. I'm delaying sign-up until early next week, because I still need to ponder what I want to request. I have 30-odd fandoms I'm going to volunteer to write, but crafting the ideal request! Eeeep.

[identity profile] elishavah.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
They were REALLY FUZZY. And I almost got them, but then realized the only place I'd wear them is around the house.

No timer makes for practically useless VCR! Which isn't a tragedy in this day and age, but a true pain in the ass. As for extensions, yeah, a couple of mine have gone useless, which is annoying -- as is the auto-spell check, which I really need to figure out how to turn off, because damn it, kerfuffle is too a word! Quit it with the freaking red underline!

And I KNOW. I'm boggling at the number of people who have submitted requests already. What do I want?! I don't know!

[identity profile] thepouncer.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I have white socks with Tigger embroidered on them - I never thought I'd wear them, but I've decided to embrace the quirky socks and even worn them to work!

[identity profile] j00j.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Strictly speaking, you should probably watch all of Ten's season before starting Torchwood. However, if you don't mind being spoiled for the end of that season, you can probably start watching. You'll need to fill in a few blanks, though, as they refer to events during that season. Also, Ten's season does tell you a bit about how Torchwood operates.

[identity profile] elishavah.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Gotcha. Will catch up. Just knowing how it's been mentioned here and there already (I saw up to 207 before I fell behind and got distracted...and realized that I really don't like Ten much), I figured there would be more, but good to know for sure.

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
You may have the desire to stick something in the VCR to extract the tape. I have this on good authority that is a very bad idea. (I was stopped in the nick of time with violent descriptions of me exploding and dying because of the VCR.) Actually, now that I think about it, it was sticking the screwdriver in the TV/VCR combo that caused the screaming. I have actually taken the stand alone VCR apart and extracted a tape before (and then transferred the tape from one case to another:)

Hugs you:)

[identity profile] elishavah.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
!?!

That's a little disturbing, yes. Anyway, it's a blank tape, so I'm not too worried about killing it, and it records and plays fine, so it's functional. But I still have some movies on VHS...

{{{{Thea}}}

[identity profile] thassalia.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
After I took the top of the VCR and wiggle everything around, it started working again:) But I believe this was a testment to its fear and not my mechanical skill:)

[identity profile] destina.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
yay, the fall icon is back. :)

[identity profile] elishavah.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't get rid of it. Can't, really.
