helphelp pink!
Hokay. I'm not new to dying- I prefer greens and blues but now it's time for red! HOWEVER! Halp plz ;_; A year ago I tried a burgundy color (either RAW or manic panic) and it came out bright pink. I blamed it on dying just after bleaching/using toner/washing my hair, and shrugged it off.
Currently I have mostly bleached hair that is not white, but not yellow- perhaps "corn husk" color. It's been growing out all summer because I didn't want to re-bleach and dye until after my summer job. To test some reds I shampooed my hair, skipped the conditioner, towel dried, and processed dye on little parts for 2 hours (usually I'd leave it in for 6+ hrs).
I did a test strand of Manic Panic's vampire red. It went in fuscia. And is even more hot-pink-fuscia after three washes, though it's still vibrant (I'll give it that).
I then went out to buy RAW's Fire Red, did a test strand, and thought it was perfect! However, it washed out almost completely after one gentle shower. I really don't want to spend more money testing all the red dyes I can find, so I come to you for advice!
So! Am I doing something wrong to make them pink? Do I need to skip conditioner for a week or something to make my hair more porous? And what the heck can I do about the RAW color aside from keeping some in my conditioner?
