Make a post with the names of all the files in your WIPs folder. People comment with the title that most intrigues them, then tell them something about it/post a snippet!

I already talk your ears off about my WiPs through my Six Sentence Sunday posts and annual WiP Post of Doooooom, but I thought this was a fun meme to share. I'm putting my own shortlist of files I've done something with this year below in case there are any takers.

... how dare you stopping right THERE?! *huffs*

Since you mentioned it's an erotic Twine game, and the elves are already accounted albeit not defined as sex workers (booo!) I must presume that's what the humans are good for? :D

Catfish and Hush Puppies (and is that by chance part of a series or something with Licorice Drops and Jelly Rolls and Paint and Pie?)

Gosh I don't have any WIPs right now. I like the idea of your Wishbone Compass, I love 'stranded on a desert island' fics.

See that is where you absolutely triumph in writing: world building, description and details. I am hopeless at all that, I prefer dialogue, I was just discussing this with CatMoon. You can describe a scene and immerse your reader in the rich details but I can’t. Me and Cat were saying that we often write a fic full of dialogue then go back later and fill in some description. I've even started writing my fics as film scripts with just dialogue, then I’ll probably go back and fill in the descriptions, thoughts, feelings etc. later. I also often dictate my stories, it’s easier and the dialogue sounds natural.

It’s great that we all have different writing skills, isn’t it?

Your motivation for writing this fic and the excerpt from it are so lovely and I’m looking forward to reading it 💖

Wow! I always thought I was inferior because people keep saying there's too much dialogue in my stories and they want more description and world building 😅 I can't do world building, that's why I write fanfic- the world is ready-made for me.

Do you think dictating dialogue would help you? I do that because then I'm just talking and it sounds natural. The problem I have is making characters sound distinct. So my Downton Abbey/Maurice crossover fic is a blessing for me as each character naturally sounds different. Thomas is all Yorkshire 'by 'eck, ee bah gum'. Alec is West Country 'ooh ar my lover'. Clive is very posh 'I say, old chap, jolly spiffing.' Maurice is kind of in the middle, well spoken but not posh. Rather clipped. Anyway, I'm woffling.

Not sure if you read my 10th anniversary drabbles, those are mostly dialogue if you want to read dialogue fics.

But whatever happens, I really admire your world building skills. I am hopefully getting better at it.

You could try indeed. It doesn't have to come out perfectly, you could just say things like 'Fang says something about this, Izzy says something about that' instead of trying to make it sound realistic, sensible and natural.

It's not like I dictate stories and it all comes out perfectly first time. Definitely not. I just say vague things about what I think will happen, therefore there are lots of pauses, awkward bits, things that need editing and changing etc.

That's the good thing about writing stories down isn't it? We can edit them an infinite number of times til they are exactly what we want 😊

It's just speed. When ideas are pouring out, I can just start talking and the device types it out for me. I don't have to slow down, because there is no way I can type as fast as I talk and think. I use Word Dictate which types straight onto the page. I don't use dictaphones or whatever, I only dictate when the words go straight onto the page. But it comes up with some hilarious mistakes! It takes me a while to figure out what I said and what it heard 😅 And it's so prim and proper, if it thinks it hears a swear word it puts ****

Dictating saves my eyesight as I'm very short sighted and my eyes get tired as I work on the computer screen much of the time. And it also saves my hands which are getting arthritis now.

Yes I read so many stories which obviously haven't even been read again before posting, I think some people just write The End and press 'post.' 😫

I think I'm just 'fast'. I can touch type fast but I talk faster and my brain jumps from idea to idea so I have to get things noted down quickly.

But as I said, I advise that you don't dictate into a phone or similar then try and transcribe it. It's too much of a hassle. Only dictate into something that immediately writes down what you say.

And no one is listening and judging you. I always dictate when my family aren't around or I get self conscious. You can dictate as slowly and eccentrically as you like.

Oh text to speech is so great for editing isn't it!😊

Love this! Haha, "Subtlety" is NOT Lucius' second name, nope. :D Also love Jim's determination to find The Perfect Tool, and I'm looking forward to reading Izzy's input. ♥
