Goint to Worldcon so of course I'm back on LJ!

I'm really more on Facebook, Twitter and the 3 places I blog more than here. My nefarious plan was always to start writing a short story or novel on here and just post bits and pieces as I went but then with all the plagiarism getting published (*cough*50shadesofgrey*cough*) I decided not to.

Husband, however, has written a whole alternative history time-line on a message board. Hey-ho.

Anyway, I'm off to Chicago for Worldcon in the near future so getting excited!

Why I Hate LA Banks Right Now

Maybe hate is too strong a word. Maybe it should read "Why I'm well pissed off with the damn incessant and annoying habit of authors and editors and bloody publishers of NOT NUMBERING DAMN SERIES!"

Now for the obligatory *GAH*

So someone suggested I'd like the LA Banks vampire huntress legend books. I selected the one I could figure out was the first one then using the inside front cover as my guide, chose what I thought were the next two. Ha bloody ha the joke was on me. The first next book was actually BOOK EIGHT in the series *GAH* OK so what's the f-ing point now I read the back cover and know the ultimate end of the other 6 books?

Can you PLEASE NUMBER YOUR F-ING BOOKS? _ALL_ of you?

I'd like to call out Patricia Briggs and her vampire/werewolf/urban fantasy books too. How the hell am I supposed to choose the first book in the series if you don't number them? Seriously! I had to go ONLINE to SEARCH for the first book (I used Ask, it gave me the answer which the publisher, author and editor failed to do).

This is a serious failure of the publishing industry. Not only have we loyal readers had to deal with re-released books with new covers, trying to boost sales, series where the middle is reprinted but not the start or end, and changed titles but now we have to deal with the almost impossible task of divining the book numbers in a series.

If you're going to write more than 1, number them in some way. Thank the powers that be we at least get the name of the series but that's simply to boost sales.

I attend WorldCon regularly. I go to EasterCon almost every year - I've even traded at EasterCon and promoted it. I buy books by the case load. I'm a serious reader so pissing me off and annoying me means I discard you as an author and move to someone else, advise others against you and you lose readers.

I am not alone. Lots of other people get annoyed by this habit so please - BREAK IT.

Yes, it is I!

Hello lovelies!  Yes, it is I - Judith Lewis the cabbit extraordinaire!

I've long been a fan of Livejournal even before that EasterCon at Hinkley where I joined in and introduced myself as a new blogger.  Geez, how long ago was that?  I remember it fondly up there on the first or second floor, in the hallway it seemed...

Ah well, my blogging has come along way since then but as I always blogged for work in a niche, I've never really been able to do my own thing.

No so here.

I'll not cover too much work stuff here but more observational personal stuff.

For SEO stuff, do check me and the rest of the women out over at SEO Chicks.  For my other blogging... I'm not telling :-D
